What I took away fromt his video, as a guy that never played actual multiplayer flightsims like this, is that If I ever play this game I will just request instructions from ATC and follow those. Just starting to discover this rabbit hole and the whole back and forth between pilots and ATC sounds like the most immersive, fun about flight sims.
This was one of the most informative 20 mins I have had on an aviation channel!! Can you please make a how to/getting started guide on getting into vatsim ATC.
The frustration and annoyance in your voice is something I know all too well 😂😂 it’s even a thing that during events my colleagues and I start betting money on which pilot is gonna turn when he isn’t supposed to
I can use VatSim since I sim on Xbox, but this video is still fascinating and very informative. You are a great sim ATC’er and a great pilot in real life!
Thanks for the tutorial! Helps allot, I'm new to flying in the US and KJFK and I was assigned the YNKEE transition SKORR5 departure to KBOS the tips helps allot understanding how to depart and arrive at KJFK!
Very helpful. Switching over to fs2024 from FSX (long story) and am looking forward to flying into JFK (home airport) frequently in VATSIM. I WILL make the left turn! Btw-i take it we make the left turn for go arounds as well?
Great video -- thanks for putting it out -- I hope it becomes part of every N90 event pilot brief package! I got it... Kennedy... 31s.... Right is WRONG! :) Again, great video!
Are you a pilot/aspiring to be a pilot or just interested in aviation? I can hear the passion in your voice and the video was super intresting even for an avgeek who doesn’t do vatsim.
Can we start a betting pool on your stream for SKORR5 - "will he, won't he, wtf is he doing"? Odds boards based on airline/equipment choice and proficiency on clearance/taxi?
I used to be afraid of flying into/out of NY but the charts were not hard to understand. I'm shocked people think it's ok to fly direct to the first FIX outside of the departure.
So wait, a major frustration for JFK is that people fly in the opposite direction that the SID tells them to? Why would people break out of the SID on their own to fly direct to a waypoint?
A lot of VATSIM pilots don't have an understanding of IFR procedures and thus SIDs. Many don't even have the charts in front of them or verify that they know what route they are cleared to fly.
I've always wanted to try to play a flight sim like this, but I just don't know the procedures and stuff....so I guess I wont be joining in any time soon lol.
Man it’s a shame you gotta put this out there. I don’t understand how people don’t get it. You guys see much of that “bigger picture” we all are in search of. Cool to see some graphical representation but sorry you got to deal with that crap. Loll

Sure
The frustration and annoyance in your voice is something I know all too well 😂😂 it’s even a thing that during events my colleagues and I start betting money on which pilot is gonna turn when he isn’t supposed to
The fact the FAA had to update the SKORR4 to SKORR5 to add a note to intercept the course to SKORR quickly is concerning lol

I plan on making more videos explaining JFK configs, LGA configs, and EWR configs. LGA by far is the most complex

LOL that would be hilarious
Out of interest; what's the tool you use at 2:21 and throughout the video called? Apart from that, really lovely video :D
Navigraph which is the chart software, Lightshot does the markups
Excellent video, you’re a good teacher.
Thank you!
What's the name of the probgram or addon that you write on when your explaining?
Lightshot
I used to be afraid of flying into/out of NY but the charts were not hard to understand. I'm shocked people think it's ok to fly direct to the first FIX outside of the departure.
Lack of training and awareness TBH
What software did you use to annotate?
Lightshot

Leaving a comment for the algorithm

I keep trying to tell grandma not to cook the fish when I'm flying on VATSIM. Does she listen? Of course not. THANKS GRANDMA!
Great video, though!
Grandma loves her salmon
Idk why people cant make that LEFT turn wtf.
Btw, great vid
Beyond me TBH

alright. biggest takeaway here:
LEFT TURNS LEFT TURNS LEFT TURNS

Just a lack of understanding and learning. Takes time to actually learn what they are doing
