I sometimes fail to remember that I share a planet with these creatures, these alien-like life forms that go beyond anything I could've portrayed as extraordinary. I'm at a loss of words to describe how surreal it feels that these creatures exist, today, right here.
I think the most interesting part is that theyre just as native to earth as we are if not more. If they had the capacity to think like us they would probably be thinking the exact same thing
They are thousands of individual single celled organism each has a specific job, they are also known to be almost eternal as they can keep rejuvenating themselves
Siphonophores are some of my favorites, especially the Spaghetti Siphonophore. This is the clearest video I've ever seen. Thanks for rhat. All of them are amazing.
I'm amazed that such beautiful and wonderful beings exist here on Earth. The deep sea truly feels like an alien planet, brimming with life so curious and vivid. If all these animals migrated to land, people would lose their minds.
Unfortunately, we are. Climate change is already affecting sea fauna in the coldest regions of our world, specially the giants creatures. If things don't change, this effects will spread.
Siphonophores are one of my favourite creatures. They represent different societies (colony of smaller things serving their purpose) in one single being. One is good for propulsion, one is good for eating, defence, reproduction, sensing, and so on. They are basically personalities in living form.
My exact thought!!! They’re like gigantic microscopic creatures, makes me wonder if there’s even tinier ones that make up those microscopic creatures that we can’t see (Idk if that’s been researched already though)
I’ve just watched this video six times, and it wowed me each time through! To think that this sampling of Siphonophores-of which there are 175-doesn’t even scratch the surface, is very exciting! So many more to look forward to discovering… As for the beautiful blue one at the end of this video, it was a mere tease : We saw it only from above, and from too far away! I’ve subscribed, in order to make sure that I never miss one of your videos, Monterey Bay Aquarium ; especially of my favorite deep sea beauties! Thank you, too, for reminding me of the miracle of Creation-it did my heart good!
When you think about all of the bizarre, ambiguous lifeforms in the open ocean, the fact that these things do everything they do without brains is amazing.
@@abishark256 amogus? Sus? Venting? There is a siphonphore in your vents watching and waiting. Zooids always poised, popping open and closed desperate for water that doesnt exist. This is what Lovecraft envisioned, his creature weren't crazier than this; which makes you wonder, if things like this exist as closely as in our own planet, what kind of creature await us in other stars?
Siphonophores can me as small as a few inches to more than 100 feet long! It can be hard to get direct measurements of swimming animals in the deep sea, especially in the midwater, where we have nothing to compare them to for scale. Check out our Animals of the Deep page where we give more detials on some of these species: mbari.co/AnimalsOfTheDeep
Looks like somebodys intestines, split the body, to live their seperat lives as dudenum, jejunum, colon etc of the sea... 🤭 What are the sizes of these creatures..?

why things like this isn't extremely popular across the world boggles my mind. what fascinating creatures.
Their system to move around is truly fascinating. What a wonderful show!
Thanks for labeling each creature and informing us on the depth these creatures were found
(Description, not the video itself, for anyone else who felt like they missed something)
@@sewerfaceI was looking 👀 around like a stupid human. Thank you 🙏
Look at those beautiful creatures! They look so soft, like gelatin. I hope they are doing okay.

Turtle are their predators, as for jelly-fish.
@@murielvaillancourt3855 Turtles do not go that deep 😂
They can be found in the Azores where the water is clean

Unbelievably amazing to watch their methods for locomotion. 2:06 is breathtaking!
i hope we will never make these guys to disappear by polluting the sea.

id say its gonna happen sooner or later but i dont wanna see them go too, it would be a true tragedy
Outstanding footage, thank you so much! Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me.. 💚
Incredible creatures.
I sometimes think that instead of continually looking up and out for alien life, we should spend more time looking down and in. Breathtaking.

Eye-opening, what a beautiful underwater world of creatures !
Reminds me of the little creatures you see looking through a microscope, really cool stuff.
