Mancunian here. That is actually what our city looks like, it's actually just all cardboard cutouts. It was a bitch getting the Beetham Tower one to stay up.
I was wondering if he was referencing something with that. I thought that while multitasking I must have missed out on some information earlier in the video.
Jon, you should try out Transport Fever. It's ver ysimilar to this, you can build train lines for moving freight and passengers, make roadways with loads of cars and whatnot carrying people and cargo, and even build airports for long distance resource transporting.
ott might be the best simulation. It just looks horrible. There is no other word for it. And i assume thats poison for youtube video because theres no eye candy and few could actually follow it. It only works in Yogscast Christmas Charity Streams once per year.... This here at least looks better then Transport Fever. And i like the seperate building mode. But building tracks is still as bad as in TF.
Seen a few takes on this early demo of Mashinky. It really is a tight race bewteen Jon and Colonel Failiure for the levels of "Britishness" on show. Been playing a lot of Transport Fever recently, pretty addicted. I had A-Train as a kid, on the Amiga 1200, but all I ever did was run cool trains about, really want to get a modern A-Train like title and get my teeth stuck into it.
I think this is the first time I've seen South Lanarkshire in a video game. Nice to see games acknowledge towns/regions in the UK outside of London for a change.
As far as 'train games surprisingly namedropping my obscure rural hometown' go, Transport Fever already has me covered - although, technically, the town it gave me was the greater municipality of which my village is a part, not the specific village I live in itself. Nevertheless, I was pretty shocked.
I'm sure I played a game like this when I was younger... A long time ago now. I've forgotten what it was. This obviously seems like a spiritual successor to that game.
I'm sorry to be pedantic, but South Lanarkshire is a region in Scotland and Cardiff is a city in Wales. For future reference, neither are in rural England.
You know what Jon? If you enjoy this (or not to be honest) you'll love OpenTTD. It's amazingly fun, challenging, free, can be easily expanded with NewGRFs, can be played on almost anything, even small laptops, and you could run it in multiplayer with Claire if you want to for more fun, and even better, the signals work and most of them are incredibly intuitive, and although it is based off an old game from the early 1990's, the original 8-bit graphics which I personally prefer, can be easily replaced through the in-game content downloader with the 32-bit HD graphics set Zbase. I highly recommend it, and as it's a fun, relaxing strategy game and an old classic, I'm sure you'd love it, and as such I really hope you will check it out, even if you don't make it a series. Please, please, try it out?
Jeez Jon, Basingstoke is one of the largest towns in the south and is so old that it’s mentioned in the doomsday book - more importantly it’s mentioned in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ;)
mrcheesemunch ... but we are apparently invisible - which probably explains why we are frequently ignored... or just lumped in with England. So yay! Thanks; Westminster, BBC, mainstream media, most youtubers, etc.
This has all the obscure English places like Plymouth, Peterborough and Manchester. I thought obscure places in England were places like Upper Slaughter, Six Mile Bottom and Wythenshawe (rarely pronounced correctly). Nice to see they got Manchester cathedral in there though *lol*
don't think so. he'd realise that this is literally transport fever. With better graphics and fewer content. And the track building is at least yet not better then the horribly bad one in Transport Fever.
All trains can move in both directions, but running a train backwards is dangerous. The reason modern commuter trains can run both ways at full speed is because they have an engine at both ends, rather than just one at a specific end.
Please please PLEASE try Railroad Tycoon 3 - it's got all these features, including riding along with the train, plus it has actual missions and an old-timey american prospector narrator!
I hope there will be 2000$ worth of DLC like with the train sim. Looks very much like Transport Fever Right down to some almost identical menus. World graphics look a bit better.
"the trains magically loop around" that's probably because trains can do that. they can be driven from both ends.... at least, that's the case with modern ones.
Because there's an engine at both ends, which is not the case here. In this case the train is somehow flipping around at the station as if all the passengers have got out and lifted the entire train off the rails and turned it around in a nanosecond.
I want there to be people but just make them 2d sprites that alway face the player. I think that would look good with this game honestly. Just at stations and on the trains thow. Like have them pop out of existence off the train. Would take like 10kb of space.
Mancunian here. That is actually what our city looks like, it's actually just all cardboard cutouts.
It was a bitch getting the Beetham Tower one to stay up.
Mancunian here, can confirm Beetham Tower is cardboard tourist trap.
Hang on a minute, if Manchester is made of carboard, why does't it go all floppy in the rain? What are you hiding?
It's special Tory cardboard. It refuses to change no matter what happens to it.
"Thats where the unspeakable monstrosities live." *Points camera in the direction of Wales.*
I was wondering if he was referencing something with that. I thought that while multitasking I must have missed out on some information earlier in the video.
BradTheAmerican Torchwood outside the government beyond the police
I thought it was Scotland.
I hope the final version has laser trains.
I'd prefer the much more realistic MagLev train
LASER TRAIN
Jon, you should try out Transport Fever. It's ver ysimilar to this, you can build train lines for moving freight and passengers, make roadways with loads of cars and whatnot carrying people and cargo, and even build airports for long distance resource transporting.
Was literally about to ask if he'd considered Transport Fever, wondering if anyone else mentioned it first
until they implement multiplayer it is transport fever, but without any other transport.
So much better then this.
Indeed - was just thinking what the USP is here being that transport fever exists and is pretty darn good.
ott might be the best simulation. It just looks horrible. There is no other word for it. And i assume thats poison for youtube video because theres no eye candy and few could actually follow it. It only works in Yogscast Christmas Charity Streams once per year....

"Mashinky" (Mašinky) means literally "Little trains" in Czech.
and in russia machine
Or Russian.
Or slovak. Probably most of Slavic languages
Artyom Olefir
No. It's Czech. I'm absolutely sure with this, because i'm czech myself...
Holy Roman Empire it also maens mechanical machine or somthing similar it annoys me its spelt wrong
And ahoy promin za bilbe psani
First Impression: Looks like OpenTTD
with modern graphics and is also more Train-Centric
Exactly what I thought
Seen a few takes on this early demo of Mashinky. It really is a tight race bewteen Jon and Colonel Failiure for the levels of "Britishness" on show.

"Like Thatcher back from the dead." Bravo!
Gives me the feel of Transport Tycoon
Yeah but minus the snazzy music!
and accidental train sabotage
ermmm....nvr mind, i hadn't watched the whole vid yet, seeing as it's Jon i shoulda figured
Basically Open TTD. I would very much like a modern version. This game looks good for the state it is in so far.
I KNEW you'd want to play this one, Jon. Thanks for the video!
This is literally a modern version of Transport Tycoon
I think this is the first time I've seen South Lanarkshire in a video game. Nice to see games acknowledge towns/regions in the UK outside of London for a change.

Omg this is such a throwback to my days playing Railroad Tycoon 2
I'm sure I played a game like this when I was younger... A long time ago now. I've forgotten what it was. This obviously seems like a spiritual successor to that game.
Jon+trains=FUCK YEAH
"... which I assume means something in a language that isn't mine." So well said.
I'm sorry to be pedantic, but South Lanarkshire is a region in Scotland and Cardiff is a city in Wales. For future reference, neither are in rural England.
oooooh its close enough ;)
I'm sure he may... Somewhat know this, considering he LIVES there
ahahah Thanks, I try to leave everyone with an extra tumor from cancer, I also haven't updated it for like two years really so...
Wolverhampton is also a city near Birmingham.
You can mark a station and build extensions to it. Larger area to collect passengers and so on.
If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know why it's so hilarious this is today's video...
Oh god, I just checked, it looks like you're having a [GREAT] time.
^^^^sponsored ^^^^by ^^^^trains
Many A True Nerd shame you had such a bad time in Gloucester, it is abit shit though
Diagonals down slopes sounds like you want to cause barrel rolls Jon. Do you want to cause trains to barrel roll?
Many A True Nerd RIP
Ehhh the irony of life is the best kind of irony...

This is what happens when everyone playing monopoly goes for the bloody railroad.
Hope the game has Gateshead or at least Newcastle. The north east rarely gets any love in games
I know, it's like people think anything beyond Manchester is Scotland.
they look like they're in desperate need of a train network, that road system is terrible.
Can confirm, we Scots rule the world.
When we're not drunk on Buckfast.
Which is almost never.
mrcheesemunch ... but we are apparently invisible - which probably explains why we are frequently ignored... or just lumped in with England. So yay! Thanks; Westminster, BBC, mainstream media, most youtubers, etc.
They're all just jealous about not having unicorns roam their lands!
I want to see Jon and Clair get competitive with trains dammit
"You can make it go woo woo!" I admit, I giggled.
I wish Jon played OpenTTD
I had a massive train set as a kid. I must own this game!
I actually own a hogwarts express train set. It is amazing
This looks incredibly similar to Transport Fever.
Well, yeah, both TF and this are carbon copies of Transport Tycoon Deluxe with a graphics overhaul.
looks like a simplified version of locomotion, but the building system is much better in this. In locomotion everything had to be placed manually
This has all the obscure English places like Plymouth, Peterborough and Manchester. I thought obscure places in England were places like Upper Slaughter, Six Mile Bottom and Wythenshawe (rarely pronounced correctly). Nice to see they got Manchester cathedral in there though *lol*
Has Jon ever played OpenTTD? I think he would absolutely love it.
Peterborough is finally in a game! I live there! 10/10 instantly
I think this will be the only time Telford will ever feature in a video game.. XD
I found Milton Keynes, the home of Sweyn
Shoutout from Peterborough! (Peterborough Canada, but still)
I like trains
ian sands God dammit I was gonna say that!
This reminds me of your one way road system from city skylines
Those trains are basically crawling. Maybe have those early, weak engines pull slightly shorter trains?
I’d love to see more people of this
I'm still hanging out for a game that is literally a diorama simulator that lets you build a virtual model railway and all the scenery
joezetank cities skylines already exists
Weight: Unloaded Base Weight(Fully-Loaded Weight). This completes the equation for your locomotive's Carry Capacity.
Really enjoyed this video, Keep up the good work
trains need loops at the end of the tracks to turn around? Jon you are mental
Hi Jon.
Hope you're home soon and on less trains!
I didn't know that I needed this, but I do.
Jon likes trains more than tunnels ;)
This looks like Sid Meier's Railroads or Railroad Tycoon. That's probably what it's a spiritual successor to.
Early steam-age trains and not a single mention of Liverpool... *shakes head in disappointment"
Jon don't spoil the video in the description
Has Jon played transport fever?
don't think so. he'd realise that this is literally transport fever. With better graphics and fewer content. And the track building is at least yet not better then the horribly bad one in Transport Fever.
Has he played Sid Meier's Railroads! ?
Early steam age in 1920 ? More like Golden steam age. Steam trains started around 1840 If I remember correctly.
Anyone remember Sid Meier's Railroads? I played it a ton when I was younger.
Your train near Milton Keynes should be the Sweyn Express.
that looks like fun.
i did not know i live on a mountain last time i checked my area was quite flat
Kid Jon is really happy now isnt he?
Also cool vid pls continue this game
The trains I know irl of can move both directions, I get that the old loco engines can't but modern trains can.
All trains can move in both directions, but running a train backwards is dangerous. The reason modern commuter trains can run both ways at full speed is because they have an engine at both ends, rather than just one at a specific end.
DERBY IS NOT OBSCURE!
you want to want to know what makes trains go woo woo
Please please PLEASE try Railroad Tycoon 3 - it's got all these features, including riding along with the train, plus it has actual missions and an old-timey american prospector narrator!
He should play railroad tycoon 3 because it is like a old finished version of this.
Its like Lionel Train Town except larger and better looking.
Sid's railroad is still my BAE even with its flaws.
"Mašinky" means "trains" in Czech but author changed this weird letter "š" for "sh" but pronunciation is same and it's more "foreign friendly" :)
That Thatcher joke 😂
I hope there will be 2000$ worth of DLC like with the train sim. Looks very much like Transport Fever Right down to some almost identical menus. World graphics look a bit better.
Jon you should play Factorio it a game about building a factory and murdering trees. Also it has trains.
Oh god Basingstoke is in a game, I feel the need to apologise. (It's near Reading Jon)
Basingstoke!
"And then we gonna take a full load every time" - Jon 2k17
Good game!
Wolverhampton represent!
"Jon crashes train"
My last name is Oldham, my great Grandpa was English.
I wonder if there is the great city of Snape that where my mom use to live when she was in England.
As a Scot, I both agree and disagree that we are invisible and rule the world.
"Invisible Scotsmen rule the world."
That's nonsense Jon. Squirrels rule the world, everyone knows that.
Alterate title: The Little Jon that could".
Your trains are running slowly because they can only haul so much.
In what world are Derby and Peterborough small towns? I was hoping for places like Church Stretton and Newton Longville to turn up
Jon should seriously play farming simulator, i think he'd enjoy it.
Unspeakable Monstrosities had better be DLC.
No one discuss the zone. Be safe... From the zone
Jon, play Factorio! It has trains too!
What about Portsmouth? Come on, Jon, you have fans in Portsmouth too! What did we do to offend you? Nah, we love you really :)
TJCluedo Someone else from Portsmouth 😁👌🏼
I tried to tell him he had fans in Portsmouth...he never listens
We got a mention so all is forgiven
Are you going to do a follow-up to see how the game has changed?
this needs VR
This is the game with the least need of VR.
Anyone else reminded of Mini Metro?
No Jon!! now i have to go play transport tycoon to fill my urges! :/
Can you please have a modded play through of a game
With a Cherry on top
Presumably not the same Jan Zelezny I once saw break the world javelin record?
This guys' name is not Jan Zelezny, but Jan Zeleny. Not gonna break any world javelin records, but AFAIK he made this all by himself :).
Themed Purge thanks, I should learn to read. Go Jan!
Translated to english, Jan Zelezny is John Iron and Jan Zeleny is John Green :)
I want there to be people but just make them 2d sprites that alway face the player. I think that would look good with this game honestly. Just at stations and on the trains thow. Like have them pop out of existence off the train. Would take like 10kb of space.
wheres loughborough at (my hometown)
