Timelapse - BIGZ graffiti canvas using mixed media

In this video I'm doing a commission canvas for UK writer BIGZ of Nottingham's MOM Squad. I'm using mixed media including Molotow 127HS markers, POSCAs and Caran D'ache pencils. The pencils produce a photographic graininess if you use them on canvas, interesting finish that I stumbled on.

Thanks mate, I reckon this one took abut 5 hours. That's pretty standard for a piece this size.

Nice work man, Did you put Gesso as a primer? I found by priming the canvas the molotow pens cover so much better

Yeah, the extra layers of gesso fill up the fabric and flatten the surface, so you don't need to go too much into the small structures. I also use Molotow one4all markers with Gesso on paper. Clear gesso works nice with trainpads etc. But depending on what you use, the gesso can really sand down the marker tips though.

@@richardmetzler7119 I lightly sand the primed surface with ultra fine sandpaper and it ends up smoother than ice - Certainly good for wooden boards too. For sure paper kills the nibs if the paper has some texture to it but I suppose that also comes down to how light or heavy you press down - We all find our way✍🧠💯

@@BornWriter This one was primed before I got by someone else, it's a reclaimed canvas, quite old. The problem I have is that I rarely ever plan anything, so priming etc is something I never get round to. I always end up grabbing something and painting it, which isn't the best.

It's a Synio blowpen mate, you load it with a Sharpie or similar pen. Awesome art tool.
