A bit of a good practice tip, is to take out the o ring, carefully without any sharp object (i use radico, or a simple double sided tape) clean all debris from its groove using a toothpick. And re-oil the o ring with silicone oil. If any of the debris found itself underneath the groove, it will likely leak water or sweat into the watch.

Wanted to say I replaced the battery on mine and could NOT get the gasket to fit back in. Tried several times and it was always poking out. Casio gasket replacements were too expensive so I tried ordering a generic multi pack of different sizes of watch gaskets and none of them fit. Right when I was about to give up and order another, I had one last idea. I put the gasket in the fridge overnight! Worked like a charm.
Make sure your tweezers are plastic (like the one in this video). Metal tweezers will create a dead short across the battery.

It was fairly easy to do and you just need to take your time with it (pardon the pun) and it will be working as intended.

I love quartz watch. Long time ago was impossible to buy their battery in Brazil so I had to take it to a watchmaker. This anoys me a lot but then the batteries became easily avaible. I have a notebook where I write down when I change a battery thus I know when I have to change the battery again and I change it before the month I know the watch will probably stop because I hate when my quartz watch stops while I am on the street,traveling or at work. A small hole in the white lid in the middle. There should be a small golden spring there. It connects the mechanism with a stainless steel metal cover

I am going to be honest and say I don't know if you can on the MW-240. It may be worth checking out a few Casio forums and see if anyone has carried this out.

@@wetryanythingchannel hello tony, let me update you and others who may need the answer of the question.
after sending that comments above, I tried to do it myself and yes the crown can be removed, the main trick is pressing the tiny hole in the proximity of the connection of crown and mechanism when pulling the crown. you can use a needle or something similar to press the hole, since its radius is very small.
How long did the first battery last?
I couldn't say as the Casio MW-240 was an eBay purchase, so I am not sure how long the previous owner had it before me.

sooo.. did anyone else get curisous and lift the white plastic shroud up to see what was underneath and loose the little gold spring? can anyone tell me what that spring was for? tiny.
Unfortunately, I am unable to help you there as replacing the battery and changing a strap on a watch is as far as my curiosity will go when it comes to watches. Hope you get the answer you need soon!
