Just pure gold for my learning....I’m 62 and last year ‘rationalised’ 😁 my wardrobe, moving out 75% of it. I just kept things I felt good in and the result has been a complete style change.....which I’m working on going forward with so I needed the wonderful clarifications in this video.....honestly I’m loving the changes for me.......I’m meeting myself in a different way.....as in I did not know some bits of me and it’s sooooo refreshing & fun to be an intrepid explorer of myself again through my clothing !

Emily thank you for acknowledging all the love sent to you. There’s no better way to replenish lowered energy from difficult challenges than the high frequency of love. And it goes both ways. After living in isolation for so long it feels good to be acknowledged by another-even though we’ve never met. I believe your videos about style and self expression have evolved. Sometimes life can push us into a more focused higher state of consciousness. Thank you for sharing what you’ve learned.
I’d love to see a video where you style some outfits without any black. I love black personally and your clothes. In the video with 67 outfits, only about 5 didn’t have black (if we don’t count the shoes and socks). Anyway, just a video idea - love your channel!

The fit of my pants is my challenge. When I find pants that fit well, I purchase two or three pairs. I have a smaller waist than larger bottom. I repeat two different styles of pants ( boy friend - straight leg 501s) and have learned to be happy with edgy tops because of you! Thank you.
Gotta tell you, Emily, your new book has to be about how to rationalizing a wardrobe. A best seller for sure (you can thank me later ;) ❤

Thanks for this vid! I love your common sense approach to styling. I have a boho style with a romantic twist and I still religiously watch your vids because the basic principles still apply no manner what style you have. And yes….classic pieces are a must in any style wardrobe 👍😊
just really good! Made me think about why I like certain pieces & why i bought eg. costume jewelry but rarely wore it. - also why i struggle with parring down - while thinking minimalist or capsule…🤔

I am a mood type of dresser. I had so much fun in my closet recently. Recreated some outfits with what I already had. Filled 2-3 bags to donate and have since already added more. 🤦 Maybe I will figure it all out some day.

Emily, this is my 3rd video as I became a subbie three weeks ago. I really enjoy your point of view, and have dressed this way most of my life. Now 77, I have drifted away because I was afraid I wasn’t acting my age. I am not thin now. I am a size 12 and gravity has taken over even though I workout regularly. My biggest struggle is that while I have a large wardrobe, I end up wearing the same pieces over and over. BUT...these "same pieces" that I love so much are now becoming worn and threadbare, because (like the old adage says) they don't make them like they used to! I have a couple of matte black stretch jersey tops, that, like your pants, are my "power pieces." Dress 'em up, dress 'em down, wear 'em with everything, they are my "lifesaver" pieces. But I haven't even SEEN these types of pieces out in the wild for years now. What's a girl to do???

This was such a good video. It will definitely help me to create a minimalist wardrobe that represents me.
This is such solid advice. I have gotten rid of so many things that I regret. Last fall, I sat down and wrote a list of all the items I’ve owned and loved before You Tube even existed. Lol It helped me to realize what MY style and preferences are without any outside voices. Now I’m 53, in menopause, my body’s changing but I know what’s truly me and don’t feel the need to waiver to far from that.

Curious, how to look edgy at 66 in dullsville, Ca. Don't wish to look like a freak trying too hard to look young.. By the way, i abhor white button up shirts , and also blazers. Too predictable and boring. I like the pieces i have, but lack knowledge how to style. I better watch again! Thanks. By the way, at least for me, the grief of losing a loved one, eventually turns into acceptance, but never forgetting the feelings of love between you both. That is the treasure.
