- Flying direct from Dubai to the USA? We’ve introduced 2 new services to minimise inconvenience to passengers affected by new US regulations for carrying devices on board. This video shows some of the 6500 passengers who used our facility last week enabling them to use their laptops and tablets right up until boarding. Beginning today, Business and First Class passengers will also have access to loan tablets during their flights.

My wife and I traveled by Emirates to Houston from Bangalore a few days ago. At Dubai we handed over our expensive camera to the Emirates staff who packed it neatly and put it in a cardboard box, sealed it and issued us a receipt for it. On reaching Houston we found their staff waiting with all cardboard boxes for passengers in the baggage claim hall. Our camera was delivered to us and the whole operation took only a few minutes. We are grateful to Emirates for this wonderful and thoughtful service to the passengers. We appreciate their concern and help.
Needless to say that after this experience we shall always travel by Emirates to the United States.

When i flew Emirates, my flight wasn't booked directly to the US. I flew from Dubai to the US but, with a stopover in Milan. Non of my devices were put in the baggage hold and they weren't even packed while i was flying in economy class.
It is great to protect security and privacy .

If you need to do some work on a laptop for example it will be troublesome to have to put it into a bag. Although you do make a fair point
Xxxyoloswegxxx Swag well, people need their laptop and iPads for entertainment and work purposes. Plus, if you keep them in checked in luggage, there is always a possibility of seeing a cracked screen when you open them. Worse case scenario, ur bag doesn't arrive. You lose you valuable data and laptop costing 500$+.

Ain't fun for pilots with so many unpredictable lithium powered devices in the cargohold. Would be much smarter to have them in the cabin at least any unwarranted fire would be controlled more efficiently.
For those that have gone through this.. If you have multiple items (2 laptops + ipad) are they packaged together or will all be separated into individual boxes?
If someone could help, I have a few questions...
1. Are cameras small enough (such as a GoPro) allowed in the cabin?
2. Are there boxes big enough for a 17" laptop?
3. Are bluetooth headphones (LG HBS900 specifically) allowed in the cabin?

Good idea, they also package and confiscate (only for duration of the flight) alcohol drinks purchased in Dubai Duty Free when you are flying into Australia and you collect it on arrival. Similar system

I flew on United last year after 5 years GAP from Sydney to SFO. I must truly say that its on board services have severly degraded. it was a 14 hour flight. In 2011, they served several meals during the flight from lunch till breakfast SFO time. I think around 3 meals plus one light meal. In 2015., the onboard service was limited to one meal on take off and another one on landing. If you wanted meal., in between., you had to buy and the quality of those were PATHETIC.
I hope that soon SQ and Emirates will fly from AU to US as part of the Open Sky policy and offer customers like us better service. Even Qantas was no good.
Not to mention., the Business Class on the New United dreamliner was pretty pathetic in lay out.
I wouldn't be surprised., if they stop this service soon . Bcos they silence every critique
