Thank you for this. I think I’m just going to go with a modern cowless skate. And I hear you as I am a goalie from the 90’s taking a decade or two off and trying to transition to all this slidey stuff while 50 pounds over weight. Every move looks and feels awkward and I can’t push to save my life try as I might. These may be a lot cheaper than a $500 set of skates but at my age that little catch of the ice you did would probably make me pull something instead of just knocking me off balance.
I remember people talking about these back around 2000 or so in the early days of social media when it was just bbs message boards & chat rooms. I was tempted but didn't want to be drilling holes in my $750 Tacks skates. Ha! I also found out the NHL didn't allow them and that completely sealed up any interest I had.
I could be wrong but I think the previous install was not done properly and the holes where in the wrong place. The directions say that the blade should overhang the boot by 1/16” to 1/32” - these look like they are out quite a bit further. This might be why you were experiencing them digging in when you did not want them to. Anyway, thanks for the video.
