She also didn’t know about is more the rest of his powers than just his strength and speed movement, when next knows about X-ray she got squeamish about the ‘seeing thru’ in like covering up her👙🤣 which she got herself for invading privacy which she forgot about, when all digging around which is why Clark wouldn’t tell her for being nosy and of knows a lot🤷🏻♂️
Also i think they forgot that clark don't remember himself so when michael said chloe coulda asked clark about all his power/origin he wouldn't even know 😂
@@hmongnoob Michael decided to hate the episode the moment he saw there was a guy with random powers, stopped paying attention to any details and then used his confusion about everything to work himself into a frenzy about how much he hated it. He's gotten himself into this vicious cycle about 20 times before. Really astonishing to see him giving the hard sell on Patreon on this one and then follow it up with completely garbage job on the, you know, Smallville Rewatching part of the Smallville Rewatch Podcast.
Guys: - Clark doesn’t remember he’s an alien - The father ACCIDENTALLY shot his son (based on the look of horror on his face), but since the father works at Summerholt, he can blame the son and then erase his memories so he has less pain. It’s still horrid but the father did not intentionally kill his son. - Lois was on the phone with Chloe at Summerholt so she knew exactly where she was.
This is one of my favorite Smallville episodes. I just love how Chloe helps Clark. Compared to how in the past she wanted to exploit her knowledge of secrets, this seems to be a turning point in her character development where she “proves” Clark can actually trust her. And Clark’s reaction to seeing Lana for “the first time” gives me chills every time I watch it.
Yeah I can see the girl who played Lana was & is still very attractive but I would have had the farm burned to the ground with Chloe and Lois coming and going not to mention however others there must have been on the drive through town because I never saw an ugly person in Smallville…
I loved all the Chole-Clark scenes, loveable and some funny moments. Liked the Clark Lana thing, with the this time will be different line with amnesia, and afterwards (enough to remember it years later without watching it again), laughed at the "can't call you Smallville anymore" Lois line (or something similar) when he catches those poles. Everything else in the episode I didn't like. So I can understand people not liking the episode as a whole.
I will push back every single time on anyone who claims Chloe wanted to "exploit Clark" in finding out about him. She wanted to KNOW about him. She never showed any reason she would EXPLOIT him. Even when she told Lionel she'd investigate Clark, what happened next? She kept his secret about where he was when he was exiled in Metropolis, and Lionel comes back in the new season and accuses her of breaching their agreement by giving him only empty shallow nothing regarding Clark. She wants to KNOW, because that's her core moral flaw as a character, letting her need to know drive her too far. But she never betrayed Clark, not even in the face of Lionel Luthor's wrath.
But this episode was a refreshing upgrade to the digging into his secrets angle, yes :) I love it too and I certainly acknowledge the freak of the week part is just another random freak of the week part (albeit one of the better ones IMO despite our dear hosts apparently taking a detour off a cliff in their understanding of the plot), but the Chloe part elevates it sooo much more than a random filler FOTW episode.
She learned in Truth that just because you can get the full story doesn't mean its good for everyone. It shows growth on her part from the nosey reporter that the school starts to turn on to a good friend who can be trusted with Clark's secret.
I think Mr. Rosenbaum sometimes forgets that this is a "Superman" show... The audience is prepared to suspend their disbelief and we expected weirdness as long as there is some sort of payoff... and In this episode all the "meteor freak of the week" stuff was just to support the Chloe and Clark storyline...
I share his frustration though...at that time period we were four years into "meteor freak of the week" storylines...its like enough already!! Finally into season 5 they graduated on from that X File-like storytelling ...mostly. Bring on the supervillains!
@@Soundwave927the thing is the freak of the week storylines don't really matter what matter is the main characters storylines and relationships development. Like for Blank the focus of this podcast should have been on Clark and Chloe's, Clark and Lana's and Lex and Clark's scenes. They missed the whole point of this ep. Blank was a character and relationships development episode. The meteor freak as always was just used as a plot device. Meteor freaks come and go on Smallville what kept us coming back was the main characters stories
Seconded. I was going to say pretty much the same thing. All the Patron guests have been great and in their own way, but this guy was exceptionally insightful & articulate and I could listen to his POV all day. 👏
Yep. Michael needs to actually tone down shitting on the show. Sometimes it’s funny but it seems as soon as there’s one thing he doesn’t like, he can’t get past that negative thinking for the whole episode and it’s getting annoying now because this was a good episode.
Sorry about this guys, but I have to give Michael a bomb on this episode lol. This was an excellent episode and why so many of us love Smallville. To like a show, you need to care about the characters, and this episode does a great job deepening our appreciation for their softer sides.
I think he evaluates episodes almost exclusively by whether the plot makes sense logically, to him. (Fans pay more attention to the details and follow the logic better.) As a sci-fi, fantasy, comic book, super hero fans, we are willing to go along with extreme or unbelievable plots because we enjoy the characters and their development. Writers of these genres think about what they want their characters to experience emotionally, mentally, physically and then they can invent the circumstances to create those scenarios.
Absolutely! Michael was off this episode more than usually negative. What you guys said is exactly what I believe but couldn’t explain it as eloquently. Thanks! I have to give Rosy a pass on this episode because I don’t believe he is 100% himself.
Being 20 something and working 16-18 hour days that it’s a wonder he remembers anything. If you are going to remember anything though it’s going to be the very best things though isn’t it? I can’t imagine NOT remembering the kissing scenes with Clark’s love interests! I wasn’t even there and some of those ladies still linger in my spank-bank…. 🤤😍
It’s actually shocking how difficult Michael and Tom find simple plots… maybe you weren’t paying attention but it all makes sense… the father killing his son was an accident, Lois was talking to Chloe while she was at the facility so she knew where to go, the father blamed his son for the accidental death and then used his position at sommerholt to erase his memories.
Ryan has a eye infection so I can see how he might be off his game and if you’ve ever tried watching a show with someone who hasn’t seen it before you know it’s a chore plus Tom’s wife is sexy and they have kids which adds another level of distraction… Michael has attention disorder or something and seems more negative this time than usual so probably something else going on in his life that is bleeding into his mood….
Yep. Michael needs to actually tone down shitting on the show. I think the more the audience likes an episode, the more Rosey hates it. 😆 I think y’all just missed some plot points that made this episode way more confusing than it really was. The whole storyline with the father shooting his son is still an accident - the flashback isn’t done very well but it’s the same thing. The father utters “My boy…” with the audio cut after he shoots Dylan. It was an accident.

@@melcee22 Michael said it himself, he was tuned out the moment he saw there was a freak of the week. It's blindingly obvious he stopped paying more than surface level attention, got confused about the plot and then worked himself into a rage over it. It's crazy to me he would ask even more people to pay him to do the show when he will just drop any pretense of thinking about what he's seeing the moment something in the episode bugs him.
@@brodiesdad yeh but we all know a lot of stuff doesn’t make sense and we are still all fans. We don’t need Michael to obsess and fixate over it at the expense of proper reflection. It just turns into a podcast about how dumb Michael thinks the episode or series is. Btw love your Mr Edward’s profile pic. Huge LHOTP fan myself. Now THEY need to do a podcast with the living cast and rewatch each LHOTP episode coz there’s very few behind the scenes info on that show.
I am so happy they got her haha, I'm entertained every time she's on and she even got to be a pretty good sheriff in a few episodes! I severely doubt they will bring it up, but there's a truly great scene in "Pariah" between the Sheriff and Clark where she reveals Alicia has an alibi for the attacks, and she emotes really well in it as Clark is feeling guilty for doubting Alicia, while staying behind that professional distance you would expect. She was quietly excellent, sometimes more for background flavor and sometimes in more critical scenes like that.
There WAS no motivation for the guy killing his son. It was an ACCIDENT. It was a senseless, tragic mistake, and the dad just couldn't come to terms with his stupid mistake, so he deals by trying to shift the blame to his son.
Blank is one of my favorite episodes. This episode with Clark forgetting everything in mind reinforces two things. 1-he can trust Chloe (she didn’t abuse his trust and actively tried to help him) 2-Lex is kinda sketchy in their friendship even now. He did use the fact of Clark blind trust to get him to take him to the caves (albeit Chloe earlier warning did help stop him from saying too much)
@SusanGaskin exactly. I love Lois and Lana but Chloe was always my favorite of the ladies. She loved Clark the most IMO and it must have been so painful to help Clark thru his amnesia and once again watch him fall for Lana all over again. She will become the ally Clark will desperately need in the future. I have soft spots for people with unrequited love. Chloe now understands why Clark had to lie to protect his identity and I think in a way feels guilty for being upset with him in earlier seasons. She’s come to that realization where everything now finally makes sense. I liked it when he told Lois how protective Chloe was of him. She certainly is. Honestly one of the many reasons why I stuck with the show was to see him and Chloe’s relationship and their unique bond. ❤️❤️ She shares something with him that the other 2 don’t IMO.
@@clairemendoza8082I totally agree and had the same reaction to the series. That scene when she whispers her feelings to an unconscious Clark was so heartbreaking… You could just smack Clark sometimes and say wake up numb nuts to the best woman you could ever wish for and stop chasing Lana…
Once season 3 ended, there was nothing left in the way of a true friendship on Lex's part. Everything Lex does from season 4 on is deceitful, and he is slowly descending into his full villainy!

The ending conversation between Chole and Clark was amazing. They both did a great job in this episode, can't believe they didn't talk about the ending scene between Chole and Clark 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😮💨
they missed the whole point of the ep was about Clark's relationship dynamics. Clark and Chloe (in particular) but also Clark and Lana, Clark and Lex (of course Michael would think Lex wasn't capable of that kind of deception SMDH) and even Clark and Lois is explored too.
I feel like a lot of focus get put on the negatives of the episode and great moments (like that finale convo) don’t get looked at or talked about enough 👎🏻
For the love of God guys, please PAY ATTENTION to the episodes. Almost every time you guys have a complaint about an episode or talk about plot holes it's because you weren't paying attention and you missed the details. You are shitting on a show that you're not actually paying attention to. The fault lies with you, not with the show
Exactly 🗣️💯 hopefully Talkville team will read our comments and tell them to start paying attention when they watch the show cause we're tired of their shit 😅
Dude you are my hero drives me nuts as well. Does it also drive you nuts how Michael makes songs or movie references in the show. It's like maybe the writers actually know whats going on in the world and have perfect placement. There is one particular rant he went on about Clark saying "I missed too many Linkin Park concers" Michael made fun of Linkin Park and then said how it would date itself as time goes on. But it had nothing to do with that more to do with loud concerts.
This episode, and the show in and of itself, is about relationships. Clark’s relationships, specifically. And this episode highlights Clark at his most vulnerable (amnesia is as vulnerable as he can be) and how that impacts his relationship. Lex manipulates him, Lana feels hopeful, and Chloe is trusted. Seeing those three changes in relationships is why this episode is a highlight for me
I also liked when Lois found out about Clark super strength rather than being afraid she was actually rather impressed. Albeit they forgot right afterwards (except Chloe who already knew his secret)
Also a 🌹🌹🌹 for me! It just makes it highlight so much of who Clark is in such an enjoyable way. To have Chloe come in and be honored to protect that felt like she got a chance to do a huge thank you on how much Clark changed her. Also so cool to look back on how Alicia (Clark’s Ex) gave Chloe that electric opportunity.
@@Spidyfish22 Right like at his core Clark maintained his defining principles. Also reflects how much Tom was growing as an actor. Each season he has (and will continue to) been leveling up. I mean the superman character is 3 roles in 1, and Tom plays him so nuanced and layered already. You really get to see him shine more when he's "not himself"
Yes I kept rewinding and rewatching moments and I just want to watch it again, I even remember waiting for this episode, I couldn't remember all the details like the memory guy, just the pure moments between Chloe and Clark which I love. Also Tom plays a lot of emotions with his eyes, and they are so beautiful it's hypnotising to watch. Chloe is beautiful in this episode as well. Even Lana is, although I can't wait to see him with Lois more. Maturing out of his high school love. I doubt Michael will go further with the podcast once he is out of this show....sad.
I like this episode because it shows Chloe’s character in a new light. Clark and Chloe’s friendship goes from strength to strength from season 4 onward. She becomes his sidekick but more than that she’s his cheerleader.
This was one of my favorite episodes the way it showcases the protective nature and amazing relationship between Chloe and Clark. At the end she tells him that he had a clean slate, yet made all the exact same choices except for one: he trusted her. The acting is excellent and it brings tears to my eyes every time.
The father shot the other son BY ACCIDENT. I enjoy this podcast, but the most irritating part is when Michael goes off on how bad the writing is when he rarely remembers or understands the actual plots of the episodes. This was a good episode, AT LEAST one rose in my opinion 🌹, maybe two 🌹🌹
In love with Baby Clois in this episode! Their little cute friendship development dynamics was soo cute! ❤ honesty Lois&Clark scenes every time saves the episodes for me in this season!
I'm normally defensive of Michael's criticism but I feel like he went a bit overboard in this episode. Normally Tom balances him out but I feel like not even Tom paid much attention to this episode. I would be the first to say the show wasn't always perfect but I enjoy hearing about the making of it and the nuts and bolts that go into making a show. But Michael, dude, if rewatching the show is causing you so much agony then maybe focus on your own podcast or do a podcast where you review things you enjoy. Nobody is forcing you to do this.
Honestly its one of the best episodes. You see a true mystery leaves just enough for the reader to figure out. You get all the motivation of the father in the subtle actions he takes on screen.
This one was way better than I remember it being, especially when Chloe said to Clark that he still acted the same even without his memories. Hero at his core.
Tom and Erica's (Lois&Clark) Barn scenes ♥ are always filled with wholesomeness it makes you want to keep re watching those scenes over and over!❤ cloisforever ❤
Erica said her line great💖👍 when Clark holds and then shoves the fallen Pillars away, til Kevin has too erase the minutes witnessing scene , and Erica goes back too as Lois not knowing Clark’s abilties🤷🏻♂️
I love this episode. And I feel as though Michael maybe wasn't giving it its full attention. First off, he asks "Why didn't Chloe extract info from him?" Dude. He has memory loss. He doesn't KNOW where he's from or what he can do lol. That's the whole point of the episode! @13:05 I get there were some conveniences for the plot, but there were also some in the episodes you all liked. I think he whole point of this episode was to build Chloe's character development, and to build her and Clark's alliance and trust. As for Jason, he is being manipulated by his MOM. We know this. Ya'll know this. Jason is simply a pawn between his mom, Lionel, and the Swans. He slowly starts to lose his mind throughout the last half of the season until it all culminates in the finale (as you will see). His MOM and the stones themselves have ruled his life since he was a kid, and eventually lead to his death. People need to read between the lines. Not everything has to be spelled out for you. "We should've gotten a scene before hand...." No. You don't need a scene beforehand. It's all be laid out in previous episodes. I just feel like sometimes they MUST be distracted or something while watching an episode because they miss some of the most important plot points and then blame it on the writing or direction when it doesn't make sense. I will say this: this podcast has definitely made me realize that JUST because you were onset working all day on something doesn't mean necessarily that you have the same emotional bond to it as the people watching it later. I've been on set. I'm working in that industry right now actually and it really is sometimes feel like it's just work. It's fun, but it's work.
lol check out the earliest comments from today, there's 3 or 4 threads right now we're all upset that they both didn't pay attention to this one. We're used to Michael cuz he'll only pay attention when the eps are Lex-heavy, but Tom is usually always on point! just an off day I guess!
The leadup to Jason acting like that is the end of the last episode when he was watching Lana & Clark at the Prom. He realized he'll never have the connection w her that Clark does. Thats why he offers the long distance college to get her away from Smallville. When she declines he knows its for Clark. Thats why he was angry.
@sema6008 he acted chill, but remember the episode when he called his mom to say that Lex got rid of the "problem" for him. He implied that he ☠️ the foundation lady and got lucky bc lex thought it was his issue.
Love this episode particularly for the bonding that happened with Clark and Chloe as she helped him sort of "rediscovering" his powers. Had some very sweet moments. The Lana/Clark hallway scene was quite sweet. As Chloe said "The heart probably does remember more than the brain." 😀🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
yeah this was a good ep! really important for relationship-dynamics. and even though Clark doesn't remember his experience during amnesia (thanks for plot-inducing, writers) he does manage to learn from the experience and push past his fear and try to make things diff w Lana. not to mention the whole Chloe redemption arc hitting its climax here. . VERY important plot points moving forward
@nickhydier1201 one of my favorite episodes for sure. Watching Clark fall in love with Lana all over again was a nice touch for sure. Chloe was always my favorite on the show besides Clark of course and it must have been so hard for her to bury her love for Clark and help him thru his memory loss. She’s fascinated by his abilities and is in no way scared of him at all. She had no idea he had other powers besides strength and speed. Also was funny 😄 when she discovered he could see thru solid objects and the heat vision. I always have a soft spot for people who have unrequited love and Chloe is one of those characters. This episode proves that Clark will need her in his inner circle for the future. Her loyalty to him is pure and she is very protective of him which Clark even says to Lois in the loft in this episode. Chloe now understands why Clark had to lie to protect his identity. She sees a glimpse of what it must have been like for him to live in hiding and I think in a way feels guilty for the times where they had disagreements. The ending was my favorite. Her telling him he trusted her. ❤️❤️ Lex proved once again in this episode that he has ulterior motives and although wanted to help Clark, he too wanted information. Which is why he went back to the loft to get that drawing. It’s foreshadowing Clark and Lex’s relationship and how they will eventually no longer be friends. Clark had to know who to trust and in this episode he was unsure of Lex even when he lost his memories. Like Chloe whispering to him to “be careful.” Amazing episode! ❤️❤️ Can’t believe they’re almost thru season 4!
I liked when Chloe realized that Clark can see through solid matter like wood and clothes, her reaction was spot on with closing up her jacket… You notice Clark doesn’t shoot fire from his eyes in this scene? I wouldn’t have needed X-ray vision to shoot fire from my eyes looking at Chloe (Alison)…
@@clairemendoza8082 beautiful breakdown! You nailed it! Chloe definitely felt guilty. That is why she torn down the “wall of weird”, especially after Alicia calling her pen “poison”. Chloe had to reevaluate who she was. That car scene and Clark visiting Alicia Tombstone scene in that episode plus this ending of this episode is my top favorite Chloe moments by far! 🙌
@@Spidyfish22 So true. And there are many many many more Clark and Chloe moments yet ahead in seasons 5 and especially 6. Chloe loved him so much. In all the TV shows I've seen I've never someone so devoted to someone the way she is to him. Since she discovered his secret thanks to Alicia she knows now why he has had to live in the shadows. Make excuses for his quick exits and 5 minute recoveries. Real heroes like Clark don't owe the world a damn explanation. They will reveal themselves on their terms. That's what Lana could never grasp. No disrespect to her as I do really like her but I feel like the fandom for the most part is so defensive of Lana. She's not the only person to have lost parents. She's not a victim. No matter how high the mountain, how firey the abyss Chloe will always be by Clark's side. Even putting aside her own love for him. Yet secretly hoping that 1 day he will see her the way she wants him to see her. :) And thank you love for the sweet comment. Nice conversing with a fellow Smallville fan. :)
I can't believe they didn't like this one, this is my favourite "freak of the week" episode from the first four seasons, falling only to the Flash/Impulse introduction episode. Some might say the fact that Kevins powers working on Clark is weird, but I think it showcases an important "feature" of Clark, the fact that his mind isn't as indestructible as the rest of his body. This is further explored in later seasons, and I like the way they showcased it here. Chloe had an AMAZING episode, basically taking the role of Clarks parents in terms of being the voice of reason, and letting Clark know that she will always be there for him. The scene at the end was very deep, when Chloe tells Clark that he "made all the same choices, except one. You trusted me." Such a good scene! Chloe discovering the rest of Clarks power is a funny little scene, and at the same time shows her growth and acceptance of Clarks feelings for Lana. She could have easily underplayed how much he normally likes Lana, but she admitted, both to him and herself, that at this point in time Lana was the love of his life. I don't think they even mentioned the Clark and Lana scenes in this episode, which was very surprising! "Fresh start" Clark approaching Lana with that innocence, not knowing that he was the one who pushed her away, and his heart breaking when he finds out, it was a GREAT scene, and perfectly acted by Tom. And it kinda sets up the next episode, since Clark and Lana start reconnecting already this episode. The way Clark gains Kevins trust when they are talking in the woods, and Clark letting Kevin figure things out on his own, which this town is figuring out his past, is a very Superman-like, and shows that even without his memory and upbringing, Clark still has the compassion that Superman is known for in the comics. Clark already knew what happened in the forest that day, but he didn't just say it right out, he let Kevin think back, relive the memories, and realize what actually happened. Lex's dark side has been a feature for many seasons, and it seems Tom, Michael and Ryan forgot that after watching Onyx. Whenever Lex was competing with his father, it was always dark and cruel and brought out the worst in Lex. Lex has been researching Clark behind his back for 3-4 seasons now, and Lex taking advantage of "Fresh start Clark" was perfectly in character, and showed he was willing to take advantage of the situation. While Clark lying to Lex is the main reason they drift apart, Lex is no saint in that relationship, and it comes out perfectly in this episode. I'm sorry about the essay, but I have a lot of love for this episode. It is a great character episode for so many of the main characters while setting up the relationships for Clark with Chloe, Lana, Lex and even Lois (with that "trust your gut" scene) for the rest of the season and future seasons. Man, I wish Allison didn't turn out the way she did, because this would've been the perfect episode for her to guest star on Talkville
I am pretty sure Rosenbaum had this on in the background while he was doing something else, because his retention of what happened in this episode was abysmal. Almost all his complaints were because things he missed that were clearly explained in the episode.
I LOVE "BLANK", and Tom is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING as Clark throughout the entire episode with unforgettable scenes with Chloe, Lana, Lois, Lex & even a Deleted Scene with the parents! Glad Tom enjoyed the flashback sequence! Sad Michael & Ryan didn't like this episode, but thanks for a FUN Talk Ville! I will check out "Grosse Pointe Blank" soon! Congratulations To Zac! P.S. I hope Tuesday's Talk Ville Live Event has been a success, and wishing Tom, Michael & Ryan the best of luck for Wednesday, May 22nd's TALK VILLE LIVE today!
Michael gets angry when people are pissed at him but people are right in this case. This episode is a great episode on friendship. I can understand 1 rose maybe (I would give it higher) but a bomb, seriously?
Guys, I love you I love Smallville I love Talkville But honestly, it is literally impossible to rate/review an episode if you form an opinion beforehand, or you dont pay attention to things. I would love to see this go the whole distance to season 10. I dont mind criticism, but at least it's gotta run with the established facts in the show. Thank you for doing this, it means so much. All the blessing's to you guys
Yes, we all know that, but they've stopped paying attention to the show. They are giving the bare minimum attention to the episodes now and just want to get a paycheck.
Just have to say that Tom did an excellent job of showing a lighter, innocent Clark after he lost his memories! It was really obvious at the end when Clark remembered everything again, he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Really great job, Tom!! 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
This is so true, this is actually one of Tom's most underrated performances. He should be tooting his own horn here, like he did on the first red kryptonite episode.
Sequence of events: Father went hunting with sons. Accidentally shoots one boy, witnessed by other boy. To cover up crime/accident, he uses his expertise in memory manipulation to make other son believe he did it. Son develops krypto powers from the exposure to K during memory blanking procedures and escapes, trying to make sense of things. The father was trying to save himself so framed his surviving son for the accident and dealing with the only witness to the death.
The level of hatred Michael has for the show is insane! He has zero respect for any episode that he’s not the center of. It’s getting VERY frustrating how Michael, Ryan and now even Tom are heavily criticizing the show for the slightest infraction. Please Michael, be respectful of the show, we fans love it so much and you hating it to this level is counterproductive. People are going to stop listening/watching the show because you’re bringing to the table nothing but criticism and hatred. Also yes, we get it Michael, you hate yellow vehicles but seriously you’re beginning to sound like a jerk, I’m a huge fan of you and Tom but the more you show your true colors about the show the less we like you. Having said that, I truly hope you read my comment, which was written with love and the hopes that you improve your view on the show. We’re enjoy watching/listening to Talkville because we LOVE Smallville and want inside info and fun anecdotes not how awful the show was in every aspect you can think of. Please be respectful of your fan base, please.
Love you guys but you need a 4th to explain the plots to you, this isn't the first time you get it all wrong. The father accidently shot his son, couldn't live with himself knowing his only living son knew his mistake, selfishly decided to pass the guilt to his son to 'keep' him and 'help' him. He was still losing him anyway, as he should.
Totally agree with this patron about Chloe. Was disappointed in Michael’s suggestion that she would use this opportunity to take advantage and try to find out more of his secrets. The patron guest gets it. This is where Chloe becomes the ultimate loyal friend with integrity. And this is what makes the series a gem! The integrity.
This is one of my absolute favorite episodes. It seems like you guys weren't really paying attention for this one. Most of what you had issues with was explained in the episode and in the series up to this point.
THANK YOU!! I was going to comment the same thing. If this was the first time they (mainly Michael) overlooked a plot point or made a mistake, I wouldn’t be so frustrated, but it’s like almost every episode. And the more Michael dislikes an episode the less he picks up on actual important details that develop characters and story. I still follow this podcast because I love Smallville but honestly Michael is making it harder and harder to watch.
With Jason's character arc, we had just seen in the last episode where he helped his mother murder Bridgette Crosby. That in itself shows me that Jason's character is going way down in his morality because of his love for his mother. After all, Lionel did say that "there is no stronger love than between a mother and her son," or something along those lines. While we didn't see a ton of Jason's development on-screen (let's be honest, we'd rather see Clark), a lot of his downturn is implied through him helping his mother dispose of a body!
Exactly! When he came into the show he was hopeful and in love, then he’s afraid his mother engineered his relationship with Lana, then he’s covering up murder and conspiring to have Lex cover their crimes for them. So is it out of the blue that Jason might grab his woman’s arm and be cross with her?…
Talkville hosts, you may not see this comment and it probably won't matter to you but I'm asking you to avoid distractions while watching/rewatching the episodes and bear in mind the link between episodes. The freak of the week is typically a tool used to highlight a character's or characters' development and relationships. These developments are often not as visible in the larger plot-driven episodes which tend to be more intense. Chloe jumped into a role as Clark's protector and demonstrated clearly her trustworthiness when he was most vulnerable and exploitable. The depth of their relationship now and in the future is established in this episode. Jason had seen Lana with Clark together in the previous episode and you could see that he was not happy which makes his less than gentle reaction to her in this episode more credible. The father literally moaned when he shot his son by accident and his inability to accept and deal with it mentally led him to push the blame on his surviving son and then to try to wipe his son's memory. Lois was speaking with Chloe while she was at the facility which is why she knew where to go. Lex's propensity to manipulate and exploit was on full display when he took Clark to the caves and it showed his disingenuous intentions toward Clark. I could go further but I think I've said enough.
I really enjoyed seeing Chloe teach Clark about his powers since she was also learning about them at the same time. I also loved watching Clark fall in love with Lana all over again, despite his memory being erased. I especially loved the scene with Clark and Lana by the lockers, Tom and Kristin have such great chemistry. Thanks again guys ❤️
Same! Watching Clark rediscovers himself with Chloe's help, her showing that she can be trusted + Clark falling in love with Lana all over again and them finding their way back to each other were my favorites parts of this episode and why I LOVE 'Blank'. Tom & Kristin's chemistry was really intense and beautiful to watch and Tom & Alison were the perfect sidekicks.
I gotta tell ya, I'm surprised you guys were so down on this one. It's actually one of my more fondly remembered episodes, that I've gone back to watch a few times over the years. Yes, there's some plot hole weirdness with the kid's dad, and some inconsistency with how these green kryptonite lasers work on Clark - but it has some really great character moments, that are very memorable. Two roses for me.
Mistake made: Chloe doesn’t talk about his extraterrestrial origins because she doesn’t know. This episode was just to be fun and that’s it. I remember loving this episode when it first came out and I liked it again in rewatching it. 😊
I don't think Blank quite deserves the hate that Michael gives it. I get his criticisms and yes, there were a few things that don't make sense and I sighed over Clark falling for Lana all over again during his amnesia. Zack hit the nail on the end when it comes to what was really good about this episode, especially when it comes to Chloe's character development and how she has really matured and became a better friend to Clark by not only helping and protecting him but also being patient with him and knowing that Clark will tell her on his own terms. Bryce's synopsis got a bit wrong as Ryan describes Chloe explaining to Clark about his extra terrestrial origins. At this point, Chloe has no idea that Clark is actually an alien. She just assumes he has meteor infected powers. I'm glad Tom gave this episode at least 1 rose. If this episode is a bomb according to Michael, then Ageless has to be 3 bombs, as THERE's an episode that actually deserves the hate (my least favourite episode of the entire show and the only one I would bomb myself).
This legitimately might be my favorite episode of Smallville. Chloe is such a good friend! I like the parallel of how the curiosity and suspicion of Clark plays out between Chloe and Lex throughout the series.
It was always abundantly clear to me that the father accidentally shot his son and couldn't live with the guilt of that and so blamed his other son instead.
The patreon on this episode brought incredible insight, nuance, and balance to the discussion. I would love for him to have a regular spot on every episode. He was very articulate and had a composure that made him seem professional. I noticed he had a great mic, so perhaps he’s a UA-camr.
I’m convinced that Michael and Tom don’t pay attention watching the episodes. They either jump to the wrong conclusion or get facts wrong. Half their questions would be answered if they just paid attention!
21:08 he’s an alien. It’s his alien DNA. That’s the explanation you need to accept guys. The fact that Green K is vastly more effective on him then normal people (normal people don’t go lying on the floor in pain) kinda cues people in that Clark does not really follow The same rules as everyone else.
I think that all the viewers/listeners of this podcast love the show so i think for the sake of the podcast, it would be nice to have someone who actually loves the show as a viewer (and as much as we do) because it would help balance out the "first time viewer" experience of these guys. It would also bring a different (and positive!!!) perspective to a LOT of the complaints Michael has about the show lol Most of the time it seems that they dont understand that the show (especially the first 6 seasons) is about CLARK and his growth as a person and hero and his relationships (!!!) so the freak of the week mainly function is gonna be that: highlight Clark and some aspect of his journey that will help him grow. and sometimes the monster can be silly? yeah but focusing so much on that undermine the most important part of the whole smallville journey. And look, it might be a "first time watcher" thing so that's why i think it would be nice to have someone who has seen the show in its entirety before so these (important) things are not missed and can be discussed.
Michael when Smallville episodes are Lex-centric and dark : 😍🌹🌹🌹 Michael when Smallville episodes focus on others characters and relationships development : 😡💣💣
been saying this since about episode 3 of Talkville and everyone attacked me but its clear his narcissism shines through....he hates the show and is doing it as a way to get fan attention and patreon money....watch him closely...he cuts off Tom and Ryan, tries to influence Ryan's Bomb rating, then has a "youre' crazy reaction" if Ryan gives it a rating the Michael disagrees with. AND for bonus narcissism points watch him at a con when they have a panel. He literally tries to subvert attention away from anyone else and put it all on himself....Replace him with Erica and this rewatch podcast will be AMAZING....a lot of us only watch this mess because its is literally a way to "hold on to smallville"
@local2004prez I literally had to stop watching any panel w Michael in it. sad to say, but it sucks the energy out of it because it's like he won't stop trying to draw attention to himself. the panels where he's not there are amazing! fun and funny and you hear so many BTS and great cast experiences. it's not personal, and I've watched enough to understand his pathology, it's just sometimes you need a break cuz he is just so extra
@@asyouwish3636 exactly I despise that he cuts off the other cast members or interrupts them…he does it on talkvville too…if Tom’s talking and he deems it unimportant he will cut him straight off. Which works because Tom is literally such a nice guy and friendly that he doesn’t notice or mind…but for us it sucks cause I’m like “I wanna hear what he was gonna say” yea that narcissism is super heavy and everyone said I was a hater when I pointed this out in season 1 of talkville but I’m glad the more shows they do the more it exposes that pathology
I think Tom did such a great job portraying a different side of Clark’s relationship with each character. Usually he’s the one holding all the cards and holding back but you can see in this episode how he has to figure who he can trust without knowing the reason why he can’t trust anyone (coz he doesn’t even know he’s an alien either) Tom is really expressive without doing too much. Great job! I really enjoyed it. I would love to watch Tom in more drama films
Man, guys, Michael - Tom - you've become so familiar to us viewers in this "parasocial" way, forgive the familiarity, I know I don't know ya - I gotta say, this one killed me. This Talkville killed me, I mean. The episode was better than Michael gave it credit for, and he fundamentally misunderstood the crux of his own complaint with the show. The dad OBVIOUSLY ACCIDENTALLY KILLED his son. I mean that is, blatantly obvious when you watch it. He used his position and the weird kryptonite tech they're using at the institute to gaslight and brainwash his son into taking responsibility so that he could avoid consequences for his manslaughter. Not saying it's a top 10 episode from the whole series, but it was good character work that gave us a better look at who they really are to each other, and it isn't failing on the basics that Michael took issue with, you know? I genuinely don't know how you could miss so much about the episode unless you were treating watching it like having to cram the morning of an exam. I wish that this show was not that kind of thing for Michael, honestly, it's not just shit garbage and treating it like the writers were huffing ether when HE HIMSELF MISSED a bunch of things due to inattention is a problem for the audience here IMO. We loved his Lex on the show, we're fans, this is a thing for the fan audience, right? Would it hurt to try to watch as a fan, a bit more, at least not looking for things to check out about? Same with thinking Chloe knows much more about Clark than she does right now (watching the show, it's pretty clear at this point in the season that she has assumed he is a meteor freak, and is learning more and more about his capabilities all the time - Clark hasn't ever shared his secret with her, she just witnessed it at the hands of the teleporting gal a few episodes back, remember?). And not catching that Lois and Chloe were on the phone. The audience wasn't that stupid, and the writers weren't that stupid, give us all a little credit man :) I don't mind that Michael isn't into this kind of TV, I love the dynamic between you guys and I get that it isn't his favorite sort of show even though he worked on it and it's how so many people know him as an actor. But if you're gonna spend the whole episode shitting on a specific aspect or three that you think breaks the whole story, make sure you haven't clearly misinterpreted things, please, man. Give it a second watch, or something, you know? Sorry for the negative feedback, but I've watched so many episodes and loved them, glad to support you guys. Love the show, thanks for doing it!
Michael, if you’re gonna shit on the show, you have to WATCH the show lol. The dad killed his son on accident, avoiding manslaughter as well as the guilt(social or internal) places the blame on his son. It’s a really dark sad story of the lies our parents place on us. Come on Rosey. It’s a comic book show. Fun episode, and it was Chloe’s episode
I was really excited to see the guys cover this episode as it’s one of my favourites, but I was so disappointed that they didn’t love it as much as the fans seem to. I had to rush to the comments just to make sure that it wasn’t just me! Blank is one of the episodes I gravitate to when I’m dipping in and out of seasons as the character development between Clark and Chloe is so pivotal to this episode and the series going forward, but it also has lots of light and fun moments in it too which can be a nice balance in between some of the more intense or emotional eps. My roses are based on how often I’ve rewatched an episode and so this one would probably get 🌹🌹 or 🌹🌹🌹from me, sorry Michael!
I agree with patron Zac as he summed up the highlights of the episode well--Chloe's character development and Lex's continuing descent into darkness. It was also fun to see Clark's rediscovery of his powers and to see Chloe's reactions, so I think Tom deserves credit for his acting choices. Regarding the hunting father's motivations, we're left to fill in the *blanks* (heh). While no one can doubt the father's choice to brainwash his son was evil in its extreme deception and emotional/mental abuse, I think he probably did it because the son who lived was furious at his father for killing his brother and best friend, and in order to avoid losing both sons (one literally, the other relationally), the father committed another extreme act to hide the truth of the first in order to retain at least one son. While I think that's the most likely motivation, the writing definitely could have portrayed that better. Sheriff Adams coming to investigate Summerholt was also very bizarre considering I always thought the company was only based in Metropolis; but I like the idea they opened up a satellite office in Smallville to "treat" and have easier access to all the meteor freaks/kryptonite they use in their experiments.
I kept rewinding and rewatching moments and I just want to watch it again, I even remember waiting for this episode, I couldn't remember all the details like the memory guy, just the pure moments between Chloe and Clark which I love.
I think some Smallville fans are rallying to take Michael down at this point. Poor, sweet Ryan didn't sign up for that though, so he better be ready to duck and cover. Michael seems naturally, more combative, I think he's ready for anything - Which is fitting when he's in this position. He should be true to himself. Tom isn't as critical, but regardless, he's video calling in and his position is currently unknown. He's safe... for now, admittedly - but probably forever!
@@warrengouldthorpe5091 I actually think Michael will favour seasons 6-10 because he prefers more intense, serialised storytelling. He's complained before that episodes aren't ramping up towards the end of the season before. Plus, the season 2 and 4 premiere were greatly favoured by him, as well as Ryan/Bryce, and Tom due to their well done, epic, exciting, plot-moving storytelling. I also don't think Michael favours episodes that focus on Lex, I think Lex is an entrancing, strong character, and it's more often that episodes focusing on him are better.
This is totally my comfort episode and I see from the comments that hundreds of fans were excited for you to review this ep. Please keep that in mind when 💩ing on the show! This is one of the best! Please pay attention to it for us!
They both always say they're watching the episodes for the first time for the podcast and now, after almost four seasons, you realize that they've only watched half of every episode. The number of things they criticize in all the seasons because they supposedly don't make sense even though they were actually explained very well beforehand is a bit ridiculous. I mean, do you really watch the episodes or do you just read a summary on the internet? Clark loses his memory and he criticize why Chloe doesn't ask him about his origins?! What!
@@user-Balthazar669probably not, lol the show is a complete sausage-fest 😂😂😂 check out earliest comments today, there's 3 or 4 threads where we discuss how frustrating it is that no one paid attention to today's ep lol
@@asyouwish3636 That’s what I mean though, someone else watched the episode and gave Rosy their flawed notes. Seems nobody gave the episode enough attention to see the plot, they all had the same blind spot in the storyline?… Inconceivable! 😉
The episode isn't just about Clark losing his memories; it's fundamentally about exploring Clark's core identity. While learning about Lex is a significant aspect, the focus remains on Clark. Traditionally, Clark is seen as someone who consistently does the right thing because of the values he learned from his parents. However, this episode raises the question: if you lose all your memories and values, do you inherently turn bad? It's often said that a person's true nature shines through even when they've lost their memory. Clark's actions in the episode support this idea. Despite losing his memories, he instinctively helps someone who admits to wiping his memory. This demonstrates that, at his core, Clark is inherently good. Regarding the activation of his x-ray vision, many superhero shows depict powers being triggered by sheer willpower. New heroes who often don't know how to activate their abilities, sometimes using phrases like "go power grow" or "powers activate" as seen with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man when he was trying to consciously activate his webs lol. In this episode, when Chloe suggested Clark try to find something, his powers activated subconsciously, reflecting how deeply ingrained his abilities and instincts are, even without his conscious control.
Tom and Michael, I suggest watching the episodes twice (and alone). It's obvious you are missing some of the key points of Blank. 1. Clark has amnesia from the "hand blast". That does not mean he would not know he has powers. He already "learned" how to use x-ray, super hearing, etc. If the amnesia blocked all this out, he also wouldn't be able to walk and talk. 2. Jason's anger is not out of character. He saw Lana dancing with Clark at the prom in Spirit and believes that she is behind the "stolen" stone from her apartment in the Lucy episode. 3. The Dad in Blank is a bad guy for sure. The shooting was an accident, but he couldn't bear the blame for killing his own son. Sad and twisted, but it's a logical explanation for his actions. Also, imo, Michael's leaning into the sh*tting on the show moniker a little too much. He was way over the top on this episode. However, he's entitled to his opinion.
i really liked this episode, especially the final Clark Lex scene, where Clark knew that Lex was not telling the truth and needs to be the cautious, the switchfoot Song was great and the final Clark and Chloe scene with a great ending "What did i do? "you trusted me."
I'm so sad bc I loved this episode, watching Clark start over. And the ending when he catches those giant beams is so Superman. I thought you guys would find it a fun episode even though it's a freak of the week
Amensia Clark lol. Chloe was finally able to help Clark in some way by being the friend he needs. Cheaper by the Dozen reunion happening with Jonathan Bennett guest starring in this episode. This episode gave me that a friend in need vibe.
Yes, unfortunately not just michael. This way the whole podcast makes little sense if you obviously only get half of it and this is not the first episode in which this occurs.
Exactly.. It was frustrating to hear all the negativity and shows that they all have little grasp on character development which is integral to caring about the show. I can watch this episode many times over as there's some well thought out dialogue that pulls at your heart strings.
Agreed I gave up on this podcast a while ago I’ll still watch it if I’ve got nothing else to watch but Michael has made me not like him He’s so selfish and self centred it’s always about him he’s rude he doesn’t listen or care he interrupts and it’s all about him I honestly would prefer he leave the show and take Ryan with him and then Tom could do this with people who care and have a passion for the show I’m sure Al and Miles are sick of it too and that’s why they aren’t more involved these shows could offer so much more and more in depth details but Michael is doing this for money and he likes hearing his own voice ans rushed through the entire thing he just likes reading a script from Bryce and that’s it He is the weak link here I think I prefer Lex Luther to him and his real life persona has now tainted this show a bit for me I guess he just saw it as a job where as Tom actually treats it as his baby It’s very frustrating
Tom has always been very positive about the characters, but I think Michael is tainting his opinion. Tom would enjoy it better if he watched the show alone
Did we watch the same show? This is one my favorite episodes. 2.5 🌹easily. I loved how they showcased his relationships with each person in his life. And I'm surprised we are not talking about the exchange with amnesia Clark and Lana. That was some good acting. I've watched that scene over and over. 3 Doors Down Let Me Go. Brings me to tears. I'm floored.
Michael is smart enough to see the connections and understand the plot lines. He's either not paying attention or is going in assuming things don't make sense, and then finding exactly what he expects to find. His personal experience with the Smallville powers that be colors his viewing of the show.
They really downed on a great episode! It was funny and interesting. And Clark popping up with power after power on Chloe was funny. Clark being wary of Lex even without a memory. LANA AND CLARK SHINED like the top of the Chrysler building. And saying Lex had been good up to this point I’d ludicrous! Lex has been doing sneaky evil things forever!!!
Okay two things, Chloe couldn’t have told Clark about his extraterrestrial origins because she didn’t know at this point. She didn’t find out Clark was an alien until season 5 at this Point she just believes Clark is a meteor freak, so bad Bryce lol. Also Jason seen Lana and Clark dancing at the school, so he kind of had a reason to flip out I guess.
Not flip out like that. This is a product of the writers having to put his story in high gear because they were only getting one season with him instead of two. They need that heel turn to happen ASAP. It's all rushed and it shows.
It was a cute episode. It wasn't a regular freak of the week; we see the pain and the cause of why Kevin uses his ability to steal and eventually run away from Smallville. There were some important moments in this episode. Chloe helps Clark, Lex gets the map of the cave from the barn, Lana and Clark get closer, Lois sees Clark's powers for the first time... I will give this episode 🌹
We did see a scene showing why jason is acting different… in the previous episodes he’s killed, buried bodies, and we found out that he and his mother are working together to try and manipulate the situation in their favour… he is dropping the good guy facade in other situations so that’s why he’s quick to be different in this scene
🛑Michael needs to actually tone down shitting on the show. 😡😡Sometimes it’s funny but it seems as soon as there’s one thing he doesn’t like, he can’t get past that negative thinking for the whole episode and it’s getting annoying now because this was a good episode, with deep character development. He is failing to understand the deeper aspects of the story because he’s too busy shitting on the show. And lately, like this episode, he’s shitting on incorrect understanding of the plot. Tone it down man. Please.
I mean, a fan had the point out the basic plot lines in the episode. It’s getting embarrassing. It’s better when Tom meaningfully engages with a patreon fan. SHUT UP ABOUT THE DAD SHOOTING THE SON. IT WAS PART OF THE PLOT SO WHO CARSES. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.
Actually Chloe didn't tell him about his extra terrestrial origins because she didn't know as yet. She thought he was a meteor freak.
Also i think they forgot that clark don't remember himself so when michael said chloe coulda asked clark about all his power/origin he wouldn't even know 😂
Yup! Chloe says that in the episode too...
I came here to say this. Thank you.
Guys:
- Clark doesn’t remember he’s an alien
- The father ACCIDENTALLY shot his son (based on the look of horror on his face), but since the father works at Summerholt, he can blame the son and then erase his memories so he has less pain. It’s still horrid but the father did not intentionally kill his son.
- Lois was on the phone with Chloe at Summerholt so she knew exactly where she was.
SHOCKED that Tom missed those things! He's usually the one to explain it to Michael lol 🤦♀️
-Chloe can't interrogate Clark on his powers because EVERYTHING is forgotten
Rewatched the video of Kevin being strapped down. Kevin says he knows it was an accident and his father didn’t mean to kill his brother.
Yeahhhh, Michael definitely decided early he didn't like this episode and then didn't really pay attention.
Say you didn't watch it without saying you didn't watch it lol
Jason snapped when he saw Lana dancing with Clark last episode....here's the jealous side
I feel like 90% of Michael's gripes with this episode are just because he didn't pay attention
He’s ruined this for me totally I don’t enjoy talkville at all anymore
@@Soundwave927the thing is the freak of the week storylines don't really matter what matter is the main characters storylines and relationships development. Like for Blank the focus of this podcast should have been on Clark and Chloe's, Clark and Lana's and Lex and Clark's scenes. They missed the whole point of this ep. Blank was a character and relationships development episode. The meteor freak as always was just used as a plot device. Meteor freaks come and go on Smallville what kept us coming back was the main characters stories

(Fans pay more attention to the details and follow the logic better.)
As a sci-fi, fantasy, comic book, super hero fans, we are willing to go along with extreme or unbelievable plots because we enjoy the characters and their development.
@@user-Balthazar669 Agreed. I’m not mad at Michael. I just wish Tom or maybe one of the patreons could get on there and explain it to him.
This! I completely agree!
He’s ruined Talkville for me he’s so negative
So I realized there are 3 things Tom remembers
1. Playing a different version of Clark
2. Cool stunts
3. Kissing pretty ladies
To be fair... that's what I remember as well
It’s actually shocking how difficult Michael and Tom find simple plots… maybe you weren’t paying attention but it all makes sense… the father killing his son was an accident, Lois was talking to Chloe while she was at the facility so she knew where to go, the father blamed his son for the accidental death and then used his position at sommerholt to erase his memories.

The whole storyline with the father shooting his son is still an accident - the flashback isn’t done very well but it’s the same thing. The father utters “My boy…” with the audio cut after he shoots Dylan. It was an accident.

Sherriff Adams: Just another day in Smallville. ❤
This!
Blank is one of my favorite episodes. This episode with Clark forgetting everything in mind reinforces two things.
1-he can trust Chloe (she didn’t abuse his trust and actively tried to help him)
2-Lex is kinda sketchy in their friendship even now. He did use the fact of Clark blind trust to get him to take him to the caves (albeit Chloe earlier warning did help stop him from saying too much)
Yes I complete agree. I absolutely love the relationship between Clark and Chloe in this episode making it one of my favorites too.
Yep. Michael needs to actually tone down shitting on the show. Sometimes it’s funny but it seems as soon as there’s one thing he doesn’t like, he can’t get past that negative thinking for the whole episode and it’s getting annoying now because this was a good episode. He is failing to understand the deeper aspects of the story because he’s too busy shitting on the show.
The ending conversation between Chole and Clark was amazing. They both did a great job in this episode, can't believe they didn't talk about the ending scene between Chole and Clark 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😮💨
Whaaat? I’ve been waiting all season to see their reaction of that last conversation 🫠 One of my favorite scenes of the whole series.
they missed the whole point of the ep was about Clark's relationship dynamics. Clark and Chloe (in particular) but also Clark and Lana, Clark and Lex (of course Michael would think Lex wasn't capable of that kind of deception SMDH) and even Clark and Lois is explored too.
If there’s one thing this pod is capable of it’s disappointment.
I rewatched this episode last night. And I rewound and watched the end clip of Chloe and Clark several times.
The fault lies with you, not with the show
Ooof. Relax
Exactly 🗣️💯 hopefully Talkville team will read our comments and tell them to start paying attention when they watch the show cause we're tired of their shit 😅
Yeah, its often they miss the details. Its actually annoying
They expect people to pay and support them, they should put more work into it. & Ryan needs to interrupt Micheal more lol
Seeing those three changes in relationships is why this episode is a highlight for me
Yeh Michael actually needs to stop shitting on the show
Exactly! The show is about Clark, I think Michael needs to remember that
I also liked when Lois found out about Clark super strength rather than being afraid she was actually rather impressed. Albeit they forgot right afterwards (except Chloe who already knew his secret)
🌹🌹🌹Tom's performance was perfection 👏👏👏 every look, expression, mannerism. so honest and raw...
I agree 100%❤❤
@@joankeys1087 Me too 💕💕💕💕
Also a 🌹🌹🌹 for me!
Well almost💔 thankful for Chloe on his side, but her express in disbelief in lack of proof is another thing
This was one of my favorite episodes the way it showcases the protective nature and amazing relationship between Chloe and Clark. At the end she tells him that he had a clean slate, yet made all the exact same choices except for one: he trusted her. The acting is excellent and it brings tears to my eyes every time.
Agreed, its one of the best heartwarming scenes of the show.
That last scene is perrrrfect. I always yell at Clark, SHE KNOWS, YOU BIG DUMB ALIEN, JUST TALK TO HER haha. So bittersweet. My favorite emotion :P
Me too🥹
The father shot the other son BY ACCIDENT.
I enjoy this podcast, but the most irritating part is when Michael goes off on how bad the writing is when he rarely remembers or understands the actual plots of the episodes.
This was a good episode, AT LEAST one rose in my opinion 🌹, maybe two 🌹🌹
Actually a guy's blank is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. The heart wants what the heart wants
In love with Baby Clois in this episode! Their little cute friendship development dynamics was soo cute! ❤ honesty Lois&Clark scenes every time saves the episodes for me in this season!
I swear!fr!! I wouldn't bother otherwise! 😂 it's them or ain't no fkin way I'm watching others bull sh*t 😂🙌
Zach was a great guest. He's so well spoken and articulate.
Zack (the patreon) is astute. Handled all those questions really well.
I think Tom wasn’t doing great this day. He said he “needed this today”
Like to get his mind off something negative in is life. Hope he’s ok
Honestly its one of the best episodes. You see a true mystery leaves just enough for the reader to figure out. You get all the motivation of the father in the subtle actions he takes on screen.
This is one of my favorite Clark and Chloe centered episodes of the series!
This one was way better than I remember it being, especially when Chloe said to Clark that he still acted the same even without his memories. Hero at his core.
Except for one thing :P But yeah I've always loved this one. Chloe's wrapup at the end is great.
TOM! Take control of the conversation!!!
This!!!! I really wish Tom was more assertive because Michael is incapable of leaving room for others to speak as much as him.
Yes. Also, Tom should not be watching the show with his wife. She's distracting him from his job. Lol!
@@vbrandy7088 in addition he makes out of context remarks or makes fun of something he is either out of touch with or wasn't paying attention.
Tom and Erica's (Lois&Clark) Barn scenes ♥ are always filled with wholesomeness it makes you want to keep re watching those scenes over and over!❤ cloisforever ❤
😍😍🥰
@@Loisandclark_forever "guess I shouldn't call you smallville anymore"💘🤣🤣
Erica said her line great💖👍 when Clark holds and then shoves the fallen Pillars away, til Kevin has too erase the minutes witnessing scene , and Erica goes back too as Lois not knowing Clark’s abilties🤷🏻♂️
I love this episode. And I feel as though Michael maybe wasn't giving it its full attention. First off, he asks "Why didn't Chloe extract info from him?" Dude. He has memory loss. He doesn't KNOW where he's from or what he can do lol. That's the whole point of the episode! @13:05
I get there were some conveniences for the plot, but there were also some in the episodes you all liked.
This comment has made my day! Thank God- someone talking sense 🩷🩷🩷 thank you!!
I agree! I thought he was acting that way, especially seeing Lana and Clark dance. I didn’t think it was out of the blue. My thoughts exactly!
Honestly i never bought that angle. It was too out of character for a mostly chill character.
It made sense to me because Jason isn't the chill dude he's pretending to be. He has ulterior motives with his mom.
He also believes that Lana was behind the stone that was "stolen" from her apartment in Lucy.
@sema6008 he acted chill, but remember the episode when he called his mom to say that Lex got rid of the "problem" for him. He implied that he ☠️ the foundation lady and got lucky bc lex thought it was his issue.
"Guess I shouldn't call you Smallville anymore" Best repeat line
Lex proved once again in this episode that he has ulterior motives and although wanted to help Clark, he too wanted information. Which is why he went back to the loft to get that drawing. It’s foreshadowing Clark and Lex’s relationship and how they will eventually no longer be friends. Clark had to know who to trust and in this episode he was unsure of Lex even when he lost his memories. Like Chloe whispering to him to “be careful.”
Amazing episode!
And thank you love for the sweet comment.
Also the music in this episode is great
I am pretty sure Rosenbaum had this on in the background while he was doing something else, because his retention of what happened in this episode was abysmal. Almost all his complaints were because things he missed that were clearly explained in the episode.
yup! 100% of his complaints were from things he just didn't bother to pay attention to
He literally said, a couple of episodes ago, that he was working while watching and was completely confused also.
I liked how Chloe was doing everything to protect Clark.
Michael gets angry when people are pissed at him but people are right in this case. This episode is a great episode on friendship. I can understand 1 rose maybe (I would give it higher) but a bomb, seriously?
Guys, I love you
I love Smallville
I love Talkville
But honestly, it is literally impossible to rate/review an episode if you form an opinion beforehand, or you dont pay attention to things.
I would love to see this go the whole distance to season 10.
I dont mind criticism, but at least it's gotta run with the established facts in the show.
Thank you for doing this, it means so much. All the blessing's to you guys
Clark's x-ray vision started working, because Clark made an attempt to look.
Yes, we all know that, but they've stopped paying attention to the show. They are giving the bare minimum attention to the episodes now and just want to get a paycheck.
Yeah exactly I was like yelling at these guys through the screen - how is this not obvious ?!?
Just have to say that Tom did an excellent job of showing a lighter, innocent Clark after he lost his memories! It was really obvious at the end when Clark remembered everything again, he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Really great job, Tom!! 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
This is so true, this is actually one of Tom's most underrated performances. He should be tooting his own horn here, like he did on the first red kryptonite episode.
@@tornadochaser2457 Glad others noticed this too! I was very impressed since he hadn’t been acting that long.
Always enjoyed this episode. Once again, Chloe shows her genuine love for Clark.
Sequence of events:
Father went hunting with sons.
3 💣’s. for Rosenbaum on his commentary of this episode. Did he even watch this episode or just get the production notes and go from there?
Love you guys but you need a 4th to explain the plots to you, this isn't the first time you get it all wrong. The father accidently shot his son, couldn't live with himself knowing his only living son knew his mistake, selfishly decided to pass the guilt to his son to 'keep' him and 'help' him. He was still losing him anyway, as he should.
Yep. What they need is a woman, as the fourth. :)
11:53 what the hell are you talking about, rosenbaum? he remembered nothing at that moment.
💯
I really enjoyed seeing Chloe teach Clark about his powers since she was also learning about them at the same time. I also loved watching Clark fall in love with Lana all over again, despite his memory being erased. I especially loved the scene with Clark and Lana by the lockers, Tom and Kristin have such great chemistry. Thanks again guys ❤️
I like the scene when Clark sees Lana too
Yeah, the scene at the locker is beautiful.
Also, he and his mother killed Bridgette Crosby and had Lex dispose of the body. We've seen him turn bad already.
Starting to feel Michael really doesn't believe in "Always hold on to Smallville"
Mistake made: Chloe doesn’t talk about his extraterrestrial origins because she doesn’t know. This episode was just to be fun and that’s it. I remember loving this episode when it first came out and I liked it again in rewatching it. 😊
Yeah she assumes he got his powers from the meteors like others
If this episode is a bomb according to Michael, then Ageless has to be 3 bombs, as THERE's an episode that actually deserves the hate (my least favourite episode of the entire show and the only one I would bomb myself).
yeah but ageless had a lot of Michael in it sooooo no bombs from him for that one
This legitimately might be my favorite episode of Smallville. Chloe is such a good friend! I like the parallel of how the curiosity and suspicion of Clark plays out between Chloe and Lex throughout the series.
Well.. almost, not always when next thing Chloe keeps something from him out of petty😏
Absolutely 💯
One of my favourite episodes in a great season. Loved Clark, loved Chloë, loved the sheriff, the story of the week was cool. 2 roses, top Smallville.
Yesss 🌹 🌹
Also I remember kryptonite being there when he did the hand blasting - am I misremembering? Otherwise that'd explain why his whole memory was lost
Michael is going to love the next couple of seasons when he is like “Why is Lex so shady? When did he start running experiments on people?”
And the seasons after, he going to ask "Where's Lex?".
Michael when Smallville episodes are Lex-centric and dark : 😍🌹🌹🌹
Michael when Smallville episodes focus on others characters and relationships development : 😡💣💣
Been noticing this more and more recently
been saying this since about episode 3 of Talkville and everyone attacked me but its clear his narcissism shines through....he hates the show and is doing it as a way to get fan attention and patreon money....watch him closely...he cuts off Tom and Ryan, tries to influence Ryan's Bomb rating, then has a "youre' crazy reaction" if Ryan gives it a rating the Michael disagrees with.
Not true
The audience wasn't that stupid, and the writers weren't that stupid, give us all a little credit man :)
I don't mind that Michael isn't into this kind of TV, I love the dynamic between you guys and I get that it isn't his favorite sort of show even though he worked on it and it's how so many people know him as an actor.
Same! Totally my comfort show. Glad to see the fans come to the comments in support of this one.
One of the best Chloe episodes :) she nailed everything here
I agree with patron Zac as he summed up the highlights of the episode well--Chloe's character development and Lex's continuing descent into darkness.
I give this Talkville episode 3 bombs
Have you ever noticed that the only episodes Michael likes are the ones he's focused in
I think some Smallville fans are rallying to take Michael down at this point.
That's why I'm worried about season 8-10 because Michael isn't in those seasons I'm worried that he won't watch them or be interested in them
@@warrengouldthorpe5091 I actually think Michael will favour seasons 6-10 because he prefers more intense, serialised storytelling.
The patreon guest was the star of today's episode - bro, you spoke well (great voice, too), you had great pace and you came across as a nice, calm guy
What!
Yeah, I too am wondering if Jessica his P.A. is watching and giving him her notes on the show…
@@user-Balthazar669probably not, lol the show is a complete sausage-fest 😂😂😂
check out earliest comments today, there's 3 or 4 threads where we discuss how frustrating it is that no one paid attention to today's ep lol
@@asyouwish3636 That’s what I mean though, someone else watched the episode and gave Rosy their flawed notes. Seems nobody gave the episode enough attention to see the plot, they all had the same blind spot in the storyline?… Inconceivable!
😉
Yeah he was probably too busy having fun time with his wife to watch the ep😂
I enjoyed the part right before he does his heat vision, when Lana is first coming down the stairs and the music sounds like a siren's song.
"If I had the answer to half the "whys" in this town I'd have a bestseller on my hands." ~ Sheriff Nancy Adams:
The memory wiping power is generated by kryptonite.
That is why Clark was more affected than humans by it.
I thought that was too obvious. How do they not think of this? Lol 😆
This is blindingly obvious right?!
i really liked this episode, especially the final Clark Lex scene, where Clark knew that Lex was not telling the truth and needs to be the cautious, the switchfoot Song was great and the final Clark and Chloe scene with a great ending "What did i do? "you trusted me."
I'm so sad bc I loved this episode, watching Clark start over. And the ending when he catches those giant beams is so Superman. I thought you guys would find it a fun episode even though it's a freak of the week
Amensia Clark lol. Chloe was finally able to help Clark in some way by being the friend he needs. Cheaper by the Dozen reunion happening with Jonathan Bennett guest starring in this episode. This episode gave me that a friend in need vibe.
Micheal is way too hypercritical. A lot of his criticism would be alleviated if he actually paid attention to what was going on.
Agreed I gave up on this podcast a while ago I’ll still watch it if I’ve got nothing else to watch but Michael has made me not like him
He’s so selfish and self centred it’s always about him he’s rude he doesn’t listen or care he interrupts and it’s all about him
I honestly would prefer he leave the show and take Ryan with him and then Tom could do this with people who care and have a passion for the show
I’m sure Al and Miles are sick of it too and that’s why they aren’t more involved
these shows could offer so much more and more in depth details but Michael is doing this for money and he likes hearing his own voice ans rushed through the entire thing he just likes reading a script from Bryce and that’s it
He is the weak link here I think I prefer Lex Luther to him and his real life persona has now tainted this show a bit for me
I guess he just saw it as a job where as Tom actually treats it as his baby
It’s very frustrating
Tom has always been very positive about the characters, but I think Michael is tainting his opinion. Tom would enjoy it better if he watched the show alone
I’m sure he knows that. It’s his shtick and you noticed it always “snowballs.”
3 roses. Shut up Mike.
How you can not appreciate the final scene of this episode is beyond me
It was a cute episode.
