So good to know about heat-tolerant and low-water plants. My problem: my house faces North and the front yard is shaded much of the year. Can you recommend low-profile flowering plants that tolerate shade? My flower beds are bare.
Would like you to list the plants that you talk about. It was hard to understand and hear the names of the plants. Always enjoy your very informative videos
Would there be a way that the names could appear beneath the plant you are describing? I look forward to watching each episode. Very, very informative.
1. royal cape plumbago (stays under control - full sun) 2. butterfly bush buglia (butterfly and hummingbird) 3. type of bravelia called dura flame 4. sweet pea shrub dwarf petite butterfly 5. volvulus blue my mind (ground cover) 6. ivy geranium (good for baskets, will cascade) 7. calylophus berlandieri or sundrops 8. pentas lanceolata or egyptian star flower (bee, hummingbird, butterfly attached) 9. sea lavender or status 10. lucky lantana series (trail on the ground - avoid overhead water) - attract bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies 11. salvia in the sage family - salvia breeze 12. salvia amigo
Thank you for the video! Do you know if Grevillea "Deua Flame' causes contact dermatitis like G. Robyn Gordon in those of us that are sensitive? I'm looking to replace a Robyn Gordon because the slightest contact w/ it makes me break out like I got into poison oak or poison ivy. Our Robyn Gordon is a hummingbird magnet 365 days of the year and I'd like something that will take it's place without being quite so rambunctious (and allergenic).
Is the Robin Gordon a euphorbia? Stay away from Euphorbias - they “bleed white” and they cause poison oak type reactions that typically get worse with each exposure.
I love your Videos, Is there anyway to see the name of the plants written in a list . I am just learning and hard to understand some of the names. Thank you
Will any of them do well in the partial shade area? I have some space near the vinyl fence. In the morning and the first 2 or 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon the fence blocks the sun light. Which plants are suitable in the partial shade area? Thanks.
Would any of these do well in very poor soil? I live in Ventura and the soil in my yard is very compact clay type dirt. It’s horrible 😂 Please help me! I’m in the process of adding amendment, but it’s a very large yard, so it’s taking a while!
Great information! But I'd like for Cathy to hold up a sign (or label on the screen) with the name of the plant. Sometimes it's difficult to understand the name she's saying while I'm taking notes. Thanks!

Green Thumb: This is a great, informative video. But, but, but: Please do a list of the plant names at the end of the video. It is hard to hear the generic and/or latin terms for these plants, much less someone knowing how to spell them correctly.

Enjoyed the video and we love Green Thumb! Please stock and feature more native plants, especially as these are drought tolerant. Thank you.

Very good video. It’s the first time I recall anyone explaining how long “once established “ really is!
Love it! Thanks for tuning in Lorraine!
Very helpful video - thank you! A suggestion for a future video would be to show how these plants can be combined in a landscape.
Awesome, great suggestion thanks Jim!
