But they've tried and tried and tried to make new and different stuff without losing their identity and none of them clicked with the mainstream audience. They've been trying to breakthrough for years while other bands such as Coldplay, Maroon 5, and OneRepublic realized that in today's society you need to adapt or you will die. With this new song it seems they finally grasped that concept. This song screams "The worlds changing boys. Time we change too."
Why are so many people hating on this song? They've tried something different and it's definitely payed off. That's what artists are supposed to do to keep up with the music we listen to nowadays. Everyone changes their style (miley Cyrus, Katy Perry , even one direction ) . It would get boring if someone stuck to the same style.

I have been a fan of The Script ever since "The Man Who Can't be Moved". This band is my all-time favorite out of Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, and other bands. This band has saved me more times that I can count when I'm experiencing troubles and I can SURELY say that The Script is and will always be amazing, they don't need all these beats, nudity and the chainsmoker-like vibe. They're amazing enough as they are, "I'm Yours" and "For the First Time" being an example. They don't need to follow the 'trend' of today's songs that 99% contains sex and partying. I mean, when I first saw the video, I was so happy that they finally produced a new song, but then I heard the lyrics and saw the video. Kinda broke my insides seeing my favorite band headed towards today's kind of songs. The Script, if by chance you could read this amongst the thousands of comments, please know that your music is heart-melting and amazing as it is. You don't need to apply explicit content or some rocking beats. You still have your loyal fans here to support you! We hope the next few songs are as awesome as your old ones! 🙂
The lyrics are pure Script! They're experimenting and evolving. Music is about changing, evolving and always bringing something new. Throughout their four albums you could notice the change of sound pretty clearly, but the lyrics are the same - heartfelt and honest. I really hope you'd give this new style a chance and appreciate how better sounding this song is than other songs in the same, let's say, genre. Why are so many people hating on this song? They've tried something different and it's definitely payed off. That's what artists are supposed to do to keep up with the music we listen to nowadays. I have been a fan of The Script ever since "The Man Who Can't be Moved". This band is my all-time favorite out of Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, and other bands. This band has saved me more times that I can count when I'm experiencing troubles and I can SURELY say that The Script is and will always be amazing, they don't need all these beats, nudity and the chainsmoker-like vibe. They're amazing enough as they are, "I'm Yours" and "For the First Time" being an example. They don't need to follow the 'trend' of today's songs that 99% contains sex and partying.
I mean, when I first saw the video, I was so happy that they finally produced a new song, but then I heard the lyrics and saw the video. Kinda broke my insides seeing my favorite band headed towards today's kind of songs.

The lyrics are pure Script! They're experimenting and evolving. Music is about changing, evolving and always bringing something new. Throughout their four albums you could notice the change of sound pretty clearly, but the lyrics are the same - heartfelt and honest. I really hope you'd give this new style a chance and appreciate how better sounding this song is than other songs in the same, let's say, genre. And I too advise you to check the teasers they dropped before releasing 'Rain'. The new album will have something for everyone.
