This was my childhood every Saturday morning :) How lovely it was that Ed Stewart was brought back to do these again albeit for far too short a time. RIP Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart. Lovely to hear this again, thank you for uploading this.
Great memories here, listened to this a few times now. Stewpot was such a big part of my childhood in the seventies. Gone but definitely never ever forgotten x
There are legends then some bring back memories of being a kid, remember listening to this show, his last Christmas broadcast.Still have reel to reel tape of him playing boomerang by the young generation and toast and marmalade by tin tin. Thanks Ed.
Thanks for posting this. I remember listening and noticed he was slurring his words a bit. Loved to listen to this each year while our daughter was in bed with us opening her sack from Santa :)
God bless ya Stewpot. Rockin' Rollin" Ridin'. Good Englisman, good Evertonian. And the Chief DJ on Big L, Radio London - true professional 🎼'Ello🎵 Darlin'🎶
It was sad indeed, I used to enjoy this at Christmas. I couldn't believe it when he died just a few weeks after this show. I also always thought BBC treated him badly, he was put out to grass far too soon...particularly when some of the dreadful stuff (Vanessa Feltz springs to mind) is on air these days.
BBC Radio 2 Won't Have Ed Stewart Final Show On This Christmas Day 2016 That Will Be Sad I Hope Tony Blackburn Will Take Over The Junior Choice Christmas Day Show On BBC Radio 2 That Be Good Now
He was offered it but turned it down His words were i could never fill the shoes of the great Edd Stewart I couldn't back when i did it for a short period i certainly cant today
@@mrcrazyjonpresents4312 Tony Blackburn is also on record as saying he "hated" doing Junior Choice back in the day. I think he saw it as a real demotion from doing "adult" radio.
And of course he wasn't to be "back with you again whenever", as he said at the end of the show. He died in January 2016 less than 30 days later, so that this final show was still on BBC iPlayer for several more days. I know that he always used to say that he would be back again next Christmas Day, but interestingly, he said "whenever"
He died from complications of a stroke so to be honest he would of not shown a sign of it The reason he sounded as he did he was 74 at the end of the day
Ed Stewart much missed Radio Legend and the rubbish now on Radio 2 slowly going down the pan, Ken Bruce leaves with 8 Million listeners what do the BBC do replace him with Vernon Kay! lol says it all, so there go the rest of the listeners they have not got a clue these clowns at the top what the listeners want!

Stewpot was a legend to British radio
Legend, much missed.
Brilliant..Ed lives on...
I've yet to hear a more dedicated disc jockey honed to their craft skill and labour than the perfect gentleman who was and is Ed Stewart
I was brought up on Stewpot’s Junior Choice from the late 60s. ‘Bread and butter in the gutter’. I miss you Ed!
Same here, he was brilliant

It's Anneka Rice now. Granted she and Ed were best of friends. But he will never be replaced. Like Wogan, the best have passed 😔♥️
