I went to the winnebago plant in 1972 and got one of those given to me. When I was a teenager we sat on it and rode it down a hill folded it in half. Been looking for one for about 2 years want to make a rc out of one. Who would have thought that it would be a collector's toy. Every kid in my town had one. So kool.
Dude the winabago build is super cool. It worked out great as far as having room for electronics an battery without having to put it in the interior. That build has a ton of potential man!
Hey Everyday! That camper is great and sits perfect it look like there's lights on inside with that yellow glass in the windows! We use to have a Brave model Winny back in the day for motocross to drag the trailer with the bikes inside! Maybe a ladder on the back and air conditioner on top, good Sam club sticker on back and a spare tire! Great builds!😉
Awesome project guy ! I'm also a Tonka Toy Collector ( and customizer ) and I have the same Winnie sitting on the shelf waiting for me to get into it , like your posts a lot . I'm going to try and use a 3 speed trans from a Scania Semi that I have on hand as well as the axles . Best to you , Jim
I can't believe I came across this video. I have one of these campers and I've been looking at it for like 2 years thinking wouldn't it be funny to power it. My idea was to pull a trailer behind it with one of my crawlers. It's very big. Bigger than it seems on camera
It's just my kind of rc build with a proper real sheet metal body rc conversion...the fiber sunboard plastic bodies i dnt like ...it's real old Tonka bus real roted rust ..nostalgiac....great job ...do make some more rc on old tin tonka toys...👍🏽👍🏽
Nice work Josh! The wheels and tires look perfect! I'd like to see the windows replaced with clear lexan and actual lights installed. As for a trailer hitch I've found the Xtraspeed hitch for Scx10 for around $10.00 , I also have one from China that bolts on the face of the rear bumper and looks super scale and it's cheap (around $5.00 or so shipped)!
I have one of them also from my childhood along with other tonka truck's I didn't'see opening door on the side. A grader or loader would be nice to.Very cool love it keep it up
They make really awsome really thin wood veniers you could cover the side panels of the interior with! It would look like the old paneling they had in them!
"And here, under the hood, we stored something that would really come in handy...if it doesnt fall off and break my leg..." LOL I can almost hear that winnebago man from those commercial bloopers cussing in the background. If you had used snippets of it throughout these videos I would laugh so hard I would fall of my chair XD
Heck yeah! I grew up on 1/24 and always struggled getting the detail i wanted at that size. But the bigger RC stuff allows me to get in depth like I always wanted.
happy birthday , leave the chrome wheels , and display them clean and shiny . if you could find scale mexican blankets that would be really kool for the interior . nice job
Friggin awesome!! Mad scientist kinda stuff!! Probably gonna agree with some of the other comments, and say yes on the white rims. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!
Needs a light kit and some fuzzy dice to hang down were the non existent rear view mirror would be. I'm really surprised how well the interior dropped in with just a little trimming.
You have to loosen some of the bolts/screws on the motor mount of that reduction box. I had the same issue on my custom build a couple years ago. I know it seems counterintuitive to leave anything loose on a gear box, but I've got a lot of hours mine running like that.
looks boss👍 I would go with the White wheels. But then again I think the White wheels will be brighter than the actual body Might make it look a little off 🤔Although it's hard to tell how there going to look.. Since I can see the Chrome ones I like those as well
They are from the tamiya 1/14 scale semi trucks like the globeliner or King hauler. Tires and wheels are from those as well. I did have to narrow the front axle to clear turning with it sitting so low.
the guy I usually buy the tamiya axles from doesnt have any instock, these are similar(all metal but more expensive) www.ebay.com/itm/US-Stock-LESU-Metal-Differential-Speed-Rear-Axle-for-1-14-Tamiya-RC-Tractor/224075729516?hash=item342bf44a6c:g:LsAAAOSwc5JdzgF7
Hey look this up. RC4ZS1775 from AMAIN HOBBIES. They have an LS1, a 454 and a COYOTE motors. They are not metal though but they are detail. But that part number is a much better looking headers for the orange motor if they fit. Thought you might wanna check it out.

The raised front floor is actually more like the real thing and it worked out better than I thought it would looks good
Dude the winabago build is super cool. It worked out great as far as having room for electronics an battery without having to put it in the interior. That build has a ton of potential man!
Simple but pretty genius suspension setup nice job

Awesome ! My vote is keep the chrome rims, contrast is bang on. The stance and leaf springs are perfect. Cheers !

Can't wait to see it move hauling his trailer around
Badass creation.. ride height looks killer
This thing is so sick in so many ways!!! Oh, keep the chrome wheels! With the rake, they look totally badass!!!
I absolutely love this build! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the videos!
If the back side of the driver and passenger seats are visible on the finished model, you might add some upholstery. Very cool so far.
Awesome work, great patina is right! Very original way to repurpose an old favorite.

That I awesome. I can't wait to see it up and rolling. I going to have to keep my eyes open for old Tonka toys.
Awesome! Keep the chrome. They set it off!
This is badass in so many ways. I love your musical choices. It’s so awesome how it looks real af!! Not a jacked up Crawler. And I love Crawlers
Looks great! I still remember when I was about 4 or 5 years old I used to ride mine down hills!

Man u are awesome, do more of the conversations from foy to rc
You're always doing something cool

Patina is spot on, needs that chrome. I say run those wheels. The contrast is perfect.
Needs a light kit now...lol
Great work dude!
I like it, takes me back to when I was a kid, now to be an rc vehicles, great job .looks great👍👍👍
Wow! I think is gonna come out looking great! I love what you did to the scale garage! Looks awesome!😎👍

Yes to the white rims. Will need rust...
Interior needs some beers, pizza, guitar, etc.
Awesome job brother
Oh my God...! It's on another level.! I am definitely on the LED band wagon.!
What a perfect project for the new shop😁😁😁

Fantastic Build!! Great job, again!
I have one of them also from my childhood along with other tonka truck's I didn't'see opening door on the side. A grader or loader would be nice to.Very cool love it keep it up
Nice job! I like it! Cant wait to see it out drivin n how it handles. Very cool build. Happy birthday!!!!
Amazing video..your custom work is incredible bro! 🖖🐶😸
They make really awsome really thin wood veniers you could cover the side panels of the interior with! It would look like the old paneling they had in them!
Was wanting to see this vid. Love how you kept the suspension simple. Its given me some ideas how to get mine up and running. Great vid 👍
You have inspired me to take on my first custom body! Keep up the great work man
Great work you have made some really nice stuff love watching your videos
Happy Birthday!
Hey man happy late birthday man....and this thing is pretty sweet can't wait to see it run
indeed
Looks sweet, Need to add some lights including the orange ones across the top and some scale little old rv stickers for the back. (good sam, KAO, etc)
"And here, under the hood, we stored something that would really come in handy...if it doesnt fall off and break my leg..." LOL I can almost hear that winnebago man from those commercial bloopers cussing in the background. Happy birthday nice build
Great build this thing looks amazing
Cool project 👍👍
dude it looks wicked cool two thumbs up
Looking killer!!! I love the way it’s coming together bro!!
I love this build!!!!
Awesome!!! I'm usually not that impressed by much, but this is very impressive. Great work sir.
Looks great! A loose, bouncy suspension would be so cool.
Good work! Love doing this stuff!
Man that's sick I had one of those wanabangos when I was growing up but it was the smaller one
i mess with 1/24 scale models but your videos make me want to try rc 🤔
Heck yeah! I grew up on 1/24 and always struggled getting the detail i wanted at that size. But the bigger RC stuff allows me to get in depth like I always wanted.
It looks great!!
Oh Sensei! Teach me your ways!😄 Looks awesome!
Its looking so awesome bro, its a bummer on the faulty (crappy) transmission
Happy Bday!
Needs a light kit for head lights and taillights maybe a scale family in there chilling i love the build man amazing job
That is one amazing build!!! Well done man!!!
happy birthday , leave the chrome wheels , and display them clean and shiny . if you could find scale mexican blankets that would be really kool for the interior . nice job
I think I actually have a scale Mexican blanket. Lol
Friggin awesome!! Mad scientist kinda stuff!! Probably gonna agree with some of the other comments, and say yes on the white rims. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!
Dude happy birthday hey by the way my wife wants to see Weeble wobbles driving the Winnebago that's some LOL right there have a great evening
Haha! But they dont fall down.
Love this!!!! White all the way on the wheels. I was just thinking that right when you said it
lesu makes a good reduction gearbox. Just a note you'd need to press the pinion onto the motor if you get one, unless they changed it
Needs a light kit and some fuzzy dice to hang down were the non existent rear view mirror would be. I'm really surprised how well the interior dropped in with just a little trimming.
It looks great.
Yeah I can't wait to see that one up and running around pulling Rat Rods to the show oh yeah
I’m liken the chrome wheels. It’s like a hint that there’s something hidden in the motor bay that will eat you. Lol
This reminds me of the Turbo LSX Winnebago.... look it up if you hadnt seen it !!!!! One of kind build by the way and super cool
Best thing to R/C. Interior wood grain sticker would be cool.
The WBGO looks awesome, tires and wheels look good just need a bit of age on them👍👍
That is awesome! My brother set my Tonka winny on fire and pushed it down the sidewalk back in the day. Jerk.
Looks sweet !!
Sick restomod!
Love it, I like tha way this build is going. Thumbs up dub. 👍

I actually had one of the forward planetary gears misaligned. Locked the whole thing up.
i love this project
love your channel
looks boss👍 I would go with the White wheels. But then again I think the White wheels will be brighter than the actual body Might make it look a little off 🤔Although it's hard to tell how there going to look.. Since I can see the Chrome ones I like those as well
Looks sick i love it
Liked, subbed. Love the Van Mannnnn, plz add a tommy Chong action figure, think that would sell it
Idk if you did yet but you should add a light kit and maybe a sound kit also
Could you make an RC School Bus. It would be very awesome
looks great
I have one were can I get those axle thank you and by the way nice job looks awesome
They are from the tamiya 1/14 scale semi trucks like the globeliner or King hauler. Tires and wheels are from those as well. I did have to narrow the front axle to clear turning with it sitting so low.
