good idea to save money as the proper footprints are £60 however it should be cut to size which is slightly smaller than the tent base itself, otherwise any rain will sit underneath the tent and eventually seep through
Just come back from a few days away and seen lots of these tents and it’s brought me here. I’m impressed, help when we go camping is asking me how long I’m gonna be whilst treading a 6m pole in a blind hole, like playing snooker with a rope. Need to get one of these. Great review
Just bought this tent yesterday buzzing to get some good weather and get out camping , thanks for the head up with the tarp I’m going to buy them and trim it down a little , suck a good piece of kit this 🏕 bring on some sunshine ☀️
Thanks Pete, I've just bought one of these but wont get to use it till next year so contenting myself with watching videos of other people's for now! Looks nice and easy to put up, can't wait. Still can't believe the pack size when it's in the bag though. Will be fun fitting that in the car.
Good job, that tent was up in no time at all, I'm getting a Berghaus air tent for next tent in April this year, choice between Berghaus air 6 or air 8, or the Berghaus 6xl , also like the look of Berghaus kepfler 6 but it's about £1000 lol 👍🏴
Ohhhh Pete what a fab video . . . you made us giggle too . . . we have just bought our first airbeam 6XL tent after being dedicated Kyam users for over 20 years !!! Looking forward to using our new tent in Devon very soon . . . you certainly assured two fat 50 plus year olds that we will be able to put it up and most importantly get the bugger back in the bag thanks again your a star !!!! If one can do it then for two it will be a breeze.. Happy camping. you'll have to let me know how you get on I do like the look of the 6XL but it wasn't around when I bought my Air8.
Well done on putting the tent up, not so much on the ground sheet! It should always be slightly smaller than the tent, or you will end up with rain where you dont want it .
normally I'd agree however the Berghaus is a sealed unit the ground sheet is actually sewn in all I did was add a footpint under it to protect it from stones and also if it does rain and get muddy then I can roll the tent up and it will be relatively clean and the foot print can either be cleaned or thrown out. keeps everything clean inside the bag .
@@Petes-Page yeah most tents have sewn in groundsheets nowadays. Still a good idea to have slightly smaller footprint. Puddles under the tent will shorten the life of your groundsheet. Each to there own i suppose. 👍
You should get a royalty (no pun intended) from the manufacturers. The Mrs is looking to camping with the kids and your video has sold it for them. Thanks
I never did upgrade to an electric pump as when I saw them in action I thought they were too slow ...however I have since upgraded to a caravan and opted to go with a full sized inflatable awning I now use the Kampa Gale pump which is both fast and convenient because I just set the pressure required and push start... Then when required pressure is achieved it switches itself off.... Thanks for watching!
I set up inflatable movie screens & gotta say this tent is pretty big, my screen is about 1/3 longer rollout. I imagine deflate valves left open to fold& roll so it stows compact @ 5 psi per 4 compartment not bad. A small wrecking( pry) bar 🧰 Handy to get difficult stakes out I'd reccomend. Happy Camping⛺
@@joekurtz8303 I have just camped in 50mph winds in the Berghaus air 4xl which is the tunnel design with open porch end. Beams were only inflated to 4.5psi and they all stood up really well. Hi Pete, I just bought the Air 4 which is currently being weather tested in the garden..... I'm just wondering how the big air tents cope in high winds say above 30mph. Only ask as our first tent was a regatta 6 tunnel and we'll let's just say it didn't like the wind and is now in the bin! That's the reason I downsized to a smaller tent.
last year during May half term we were camping by the easy coast when we had 50MPH winds, other campers were packing up with broken poles and wrecked tents whereas our Air 8 was swaying a bit...that's it just swaying... the 8" beams are really sturdy and stood up well in the wind. here's a clip of from inside the tent...ua-cam.com/video/D0dySSvuQ8I/v-deo.html

Hi pete having trouble getting our berghaus air porch to fit nicely to our air 8 any tips on positioning i.e middle of door or flaps on beams and on which door? Thanks
Hiya Craig I did have a video of me putting mine up but unfortunately I deleted it by mistake. One thing I will say is that it's better going up on the back door ie the one without the little sun/rain visor. Also I might note it will never be a complete seal at the edges where it meets the tent no matter how you try. Its a porch and not an awning and is made to fit multiple tents. We also used the rubber jigsaw like mats on the floor to raise everything up in case rain came in(it never did).
Great video! I was thinking of buying the Quechua Air Seconds 6.3XL tent but now I've seen this video I am thinking of buying this tent. The height looks taller then the quechua tent. Are you able to stand up in the bedroom section of the tent?
I need this tent in my life , last Thursday spent a hour lugging about a gelert Michigan 10 tent in 30 degree heat only to have 45 mph winds shatter 3 of the poles yesterday !!!! Do the tubes or the pump have a cut off so you don't over Inflate ?
The pump comes with a whistle that can be attached, this lets you know when maximum pressure is reached, but if you keep your eye on the pressure gauge it's not a problem
No reply to this comment.... its a bloody headache to get this packed in properly. Putting it up nice and easy... it fills up with air like a balloon and took 4 adults to put weight and pressure and still could not get it in.
We had such a kerfuffle getting it back in the bag. There is a DEFLATION port on the pump to extract the air. But make sure the "push button" valve on the air beam is set to "in" to keep the valve open. Then do some more pumping to extract the air. We had all the kids rolling about on it to try to get all the air out. At least they thought it was fun! 😅
Martin James sadly at the moment Berghaus only offer Blue tents...... You could get an electric compressor and fit the right attachment however it actually takes longer that way . Each beam takes 16 or 17 pumps with the supplied hand pump and its up. Also not all sites will have electric hook ups.
Hi Kevin sure I used to buy cheap tarpaulins from eBay for a few pounds so if they got particularly muddy or covered in ants I could just dispose of them and easily replace them.
Our air 8 has just arrived 😊but it’s raining hard outside 😟. We can’t open tent bag up very well in our house as it small but I really can’t see a pump! Does anyone know if this is an optional extra or is it wraps up deeply inside the tent when it arrives. Also I’m hoping the pegs will be inside as well? Cheers in advance.
When its first shipped the pump is in the middle of the bag with the tent wrapped around it I seem to remember. Also I personally never used the included pegs instead I bought rock pegs
Pete's Page thankyou. We’ve just found a pump in the air porch so I presume as you say the tent will have one as well. I was disappointed that there’s no list of included equipment. Thanks for the great video and quick response.
Bought this tent plus the porch extension. Managed to get it erected without too much difficulty and without referring to the manuals thanks to Pete's video. The only thing I would mention is to PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRESSURE GAUGE. The tubes do not expand, so once pressure starts building it will shoot up very quickly. After a minute pumping I thought the pressure was still zero when in fact it had gone off the dial and was right against the needle stop. Thankfully no harm done.
Simone Castro no you dont have to as the tent has built in groundsheet BUT..... I would always recommend having one because they are relatively inexpensive and if they get really muddy you can just throw them away and pack away a clean tent. Instead if a muddy one. It also protects the tent incase theres a sharp stone underneath.
@@Petes-Page I use a tarp. One of the reinforced ones which are far cheaper and better then the og footprints. Also make sure the tarps under the tent and not visible or rain water will run under your tent turning it into a water bed.

No Eurohike tents have the beams on the outside and these are inside so as far as I know they are not the same.

I’d suggest trimming the tarp down to just smaller than the footprint of the tent. The tarp sticking out can collect water and pool under the floor.
