      Will my 34.5 inch inseam be comfortable on this bike. One tall buyer reviewer thought it was exaggerated by web site? Great review.

    I have last year‘s step through version. Received it on July 1, 2021 and so far have put almost exactly 1500 miles on it. It has the direct drive motor which I generally like although shifting is sort of slow because it makes a loud clacking sound. I have since found out that this is normal for this type of drive motor. It is a minor annoyance. In general, love the bike. Have not ridden a bike over 20 miles a year for about 30 year before I got this bike. As part of my exercise program, I have lost about 30 pounds this year…. Yay me! This bike, and most electric bikes, are rather heavy beasts but it certainly is sturdy. Had a bike mechanic go through the derailer after I got the bike and it shifts nice now. Didn’t out of the box.

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  2 роки тому

      Interesting - shifting really shouldn't impact the motor. Glad you are liking your RadCity step through!

    Thanks very much for such a great review. I just bought my first e-bike a couple of days ago, but it won't be delivered for weeks. I picked up the step-through RadCity 5 Plus, and while I watched and read a ton of reviews, I'm now at the stage where I'm rewatching everything to reassure myself that I made a good decision. Cheers!

    Thanks for the in-depth review. It really helped me to decide to purchase this bike. I own a Radmission and have ridden it over 6,000 km. From Vancouver to northern Ontario above Lake Superior. Although I needed two extra batteries plus another charger when I'm touring in case I might run out of power. The RadCity is going to be way better to go touring on. I intend to ride across the rest of Canada on my RadCity 5 +, it should be awesome.

    Hi Rayan,
    I saw your review and I bought RadCity 5 Plus. They shipped me a new bike with bad controller! and I googled the problem to see a lot of customers having the same problem! I would recommend that you look into it and warn your followers for the credibility of your channel. Please let me know and I will provide all the details of my order and the communication between me and RadPower bikes. They simply told me that they don't have the controller and there is nothing they can do! again, this happened with a lot of customers

      Also, you have 53km of elevation listed for that hill. That should be 53m, not km. 53km is about 6x higher than Mt Everest. If I had a bike that could take me to 53km up, I'd be pretty psyched. Or I'd be some Oligarch who can spend money on private space ships.

    Based on reports like yours, I purchased A RadCity 5 Plus for my wife 14 months ago. It has a faulty controller and we have not been able to get a single day of riding in. We are still waiting for replacement components and missed out on the complete 2023 riding season.

    • @EbikeEscape

      Hey Stanley, so sorry to hear that. The controller issue seems to be pretty common. Unfortunately I reviewed this bike when it came out and lots of customers hadn't received their bike.

    • @stanleyhache1626

      We also waited 2 months for delivery because it was touted as one of the best in the market. And it is the best looking and more promising ebikes available. I have tried to find a vendor controller to no avail and writing to the President of Rad has gotten me nowhere. My decision to purchase the RadCity 5 was based on my experience with both the Rad 5 and Rad 6 that I purchased from them.@@EbikeEscape

    I think it is a new favorite for me. I like the looks a lot, and love the rear rack. It's not only sturdy, but probably one of the best looking racks out there. The battery integration is one of the best as well. Make quite a few other brands look clumsy in terms of battery removal and installation. Some of them require two hands and fiddling with the key at the same time. You know I'd probably invent a battery mount to go on that rack for long trips, lol.

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  2 роки тому

      I have no doubt you could make an awesome battery mount for it! The fact that this is your favorite coming from you says a lot. Having ridden this a lot the last couple of weeks I agree. I think if we could only have two Rad ebikes it would be this and a RadWagon. We're also going to try our son on the back of the RadCity to see how it feels.

    Thanks for the review. I've watch both the City and Rover videos and I'm torn on which one to get. I will mostly be on pavement but but love the option of riding on dirt/gravel roads/trails. The Rover 4" tires seem a little overkill to me but I think the smooth tires on the City will leave me a bit uneasy when I'm off the pavement. Can the Rover have smaller tires that are more of a hybrid? Can the City have hybrid tires that will do better off pavement? Thanks for your input!

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  2 роки тому

      Hi Bettie, Rad Power Bikes might be able to better address the tolerances. You might be able to go slightly wider on the RadCity, but not much. And to be honest switching out tires is kind of a pain, especially on the rear. I'd say if you want a do-everything ebike go with the RadRover, just know that you'll be a little less efficient out on the road. Many people buy fat tire bikes and never take them off-road - my dad included. You may also want to consider that RadMini - a little bit wider tires but not as wide as the RadRover. Hope this helps!

      If you have above a 25" inseam, Rad does say that the step-through RadCity will work for you. -JT

    Short range. Heavy. Uncomfortable seat. Nice narrower tires. Great brakes. Massive front cables. 🤮 . Good price. Awesome throttle option.
    Cool it’s easy to reprogram to 40kmhr top speed.

      I think the range is actually pretty good on a 14 Ah battery - we've been able to get 50 miles on bikes with 14 Ah batteries. Seat is easily upgradeable!

      Assist or throttle? What’s a comfortable seat upgrade?
