You forgot to add in the scorpion method which is probably the easiest and cheapest way to do this. so you tame a Scorpius and Argentavis set the Scorpius to aggressive pick it up with your Argentavis and fly close to the quetzal so it’ll sting it do torpor damage and knock it out this will take some time but it’s easy and cheap Do to I have not tested it out yet I believe this would also work with anything that deals torpor damage when it attacks but I recommend the scorpion because I know that one works

nooblets.com what the hell are you talking about when did I ever say anything about spawning in 10,000 damage scorpion? I was talking about taming normal creatures on an official server I don’t know where the hell you pulled that out of your ass from?
ok HOW a quetzal is easy to hit your bird unless its a quetzal should be able to have a clear firing area also this guy in the video doesnt know how to aim he wasted around 50 tranq darts
As someone who only started playing recently, this really makes me appreciate the Argentavis TLC because they look much more attractive and eagle-like now than they did in this. What an interesting technique though! I have argies but I've passed a quetzal before because I wasn't sure how to tame it on single player since the only technique I had ever heard was for two or more players, with one player being carried by the argie and the other piloting the argie. Great strategies here! Thanks for the video!
Me and my friends actually attempted to tame a quetzal using the chain bola, but it's proven ineffective due to the time it takes for the quetzal to drop and by the time it lands it'll break free almost immediately afterward. It's better to tame a quetz using a griffin, tapejara, argy, or another quetz but without the heavy crossbow.
This vid was so helpful, even if I'm still far from being able to even tame a quetzal, I just wanted to know if it was even possible to do solo and what I needed to prep in case I could do a solo tame. Seems like I'll have a lot of prepping to do before I can hope to even try taming one.
The first one works and use the parachute that's what I did. Also what I did to get a second one worked better before the flyer nerf was to just get off a loaded up quetzal that was encombered by rocks on aggressive. Originally I just got off and shot it but having enough rocks to encumber it makes it slow enough to not kill the quetzal but fast enough to keep up. Just bring enough to change the required weight. If ur quetz is on aggressive and ur not riding it, it will regain stamina while chasing and u can shoot from its back and fly the quetz when u need to
This was one of the first methods for solo taming a quetz. you have to approach the quetz high right of head and the scorpion would attack. it doesn't work anywhere else. takes forever as well.
There’s a fourth way which should work with any flyer. Make sure to have a parachute on hand Find the Quetzal, and make sure your flyer is set to follow you so you don’t lose it. Then, once you get to the correct position above the Quetzal, dismount on top of the Quetzals body. After that, you should be able to make as many shots as you want. And, if you fall off, or miss, just deploy the parachute and you should fall at a slow enough distance for your flyer to come back to you and for you to try again
I have a recommendation for making the commands more reliable. Press period . to command them to attack the quet, then when you get too close press semicolon ; to whisle passive on your argy and plus + to whistle attack my target. The reason this works better is because when you whistle back to attack my target, creatures will automatically revert back to attacking the last thing they were set to attack, which means that all you have to do is alternate ; and + to make the argy start and stop chasing the quet. I've done this when chasing tapejara grappling onto my pteranodon on The Center and it works marvelously for chasing those sneaky dumbasses. Hope this helps!
Land on top of it with a snow owl bomb to freeze it. When it’s on the ground, freeze it again (when it’s walking) throw some gates over it and you’re good to go
The method I used is I picked up a scorpion and sent it to attack the quetzal and I flew near the quetzal. Also doesn't use tranq darts so you save on resources. Though I do want to try this method to see which is more efficient.
Pretty good methods to get your 1st Quetzal. But if You got one already I prefer the air tame method. Platform saddle with a selfmade quetz cage on it. Get it in, knock it out. You don't have trouble with wrong places for the quetzal to touch down like a river or maybe redwood or swamp.
might it be that spooked quetzals always head to certain spot at ragnarok, to the center of the map. where it happens to be balls freezing cold. Didnt heading to 50 50 used to be a thing at Island?
Just finished taming my first quetzal, bish fell in the red woods biome, me and my friend had to fight all nasty critters there lol We called our bird Quetzal the Pretzel
Congrats, the first one is by far the hardest. It took me hours and several attempts to get my first one solo, several of them died because they fell in the water or by a pack of allos.
Thanks man i cant believe it i actually did it. I happened to see a tek quetzal and decided to just give it a try since i had all the gear. To my surprise when i only had 10 tranqs left the sucker fell and it was such a glorious sight seeing that thing knocked out and taming it
You have the same problem as i had good sir, on the 3rd part where the Quetzal on Ragnarok will just piss off into the Deadly Frost Zone just laughing at ya. "Haha try and tame me here sucker" xD
Well it is possible but just i mean at the moment when u bring some fireplaces because if you do not have high quality fur yet. The Quetzal could be dead/eaten.
In Mobile version it is very easy to tame Quetzal. Just kill the quetzal by Argentavis or Griffin. Then collect the Creature Implant. Then revive it on Revival platform placed in a trap. Revival platform is actually costly😁
I didn't read all the comments so you might already answered this question: I've noticed you don't starve tame, about a year ago it was the way to go. very helpful i use the last method domt know why im even taming a quetzal when i have a griffin except putting a rocket turret on a quetzal so i can kill everything
I do it two different ways. 1. Get your wyvern, if you have one, and set his follow distance to “lowest.” Find the quetzal you want to tame, get right in front of the quetzals flight path and just underneath it, get off of your wyvern and he should stay right where he is in the sky. Shoot the Q and just rinse and repeat until you knock the quetzal out. 2. Set up a ballista turret with chain bolas in its inventory close to the quetzals flight paths. Shoot him down and build a small trap around the quetzal while he’s down to keep him locked away. Then you shoot until he’s knocked out. This method is more difficult, but feels more real and is a cool challenge if you’re into testing yourself a bit.
Griffons don't have the benefit of saddle defenses and consume stamina at a very high rate when climbing fast with shift key to swoop. They can be slowed to a halt when stuck with c4 (if you don't detonate) and picked off easily with ranged weaponry. What's so OP about it?
Jin cough cough getting stuck in holes (srsly why is there holes in the island) and also like 20 other things like making armor so it doesn’t break in two hits
@Scarce: yeah but whats the point in talking about dedicated servers? They can have crazy settings applied to them anyway and this conversation was about the balance of griffons versus wyverns as they are currently without modified settings.
Alternate first method: Get a tapejara with a saddle and whistle target on the quetzal, get in the second seat and ready your ranged torpor weapon, and shoot. Its like the crossbow argy method but without the risk of falling, as well as the fact that the argy might kill the quetzal, which happened to my friend.
In the end you mention once you have your first one captured and tamed to build a quetzal trap to get the others, do you have a video for this? I've managed to get my first one and i'd like to use a trap or the chain bola to help make it easier. ty sir.
A good way of taking quetzals is get a bird you don’t care about.Fly above the quetzal and jump off. Grapple it and start shooting it with tranq darts. Then when it gets knocked out use a parachute to fly down. I don’t know if you should un grapple though. Sorry about spelling
If you are deciding to tame a quetzal with a argy when you grapple on it and whistle it to attack sometimes it will go backwards and you will lose the quetzal or even if you wistle to attack to it will happen.
This is the best guide on this that I have seen. All the other guides show quetzal mobile cage platforms. Yeah...that only works if you already have a quetz lol
4th way get on a wyvern or griffin and dismount then you can stand on it and shoot more clearly. If you want an easy wyvern then get a pteradon with good stamina and health and ride it to the wyvern ravine and snatch a egg then get torchs and hatch it. For a griffin just get some tranq arrows and make a small house with a window and shoot it as it circles you. If you have any questions about anything else just ask me.
Thank you for makeing this vid I live in a big but small island and I want to move dinos to my home but it’s hard to move dinos to a island and I want to get one but idk how to tame one thank you
Griffins r definitely my favourite animal of all its fun to tame and ride with has the good looks and fluid animation also a good pvp flyer and a good pve utility/weight bird along its the fact it has access to rider weaponry is just great
the funny thing is I find this video today and I literally just tamed my own quetzal last night using my argy and grappling hook technique with tranq arrows on primitive plus worked out really well now tapejara on the other hand...
sometimes if your lucky a quetz get stuck in such a wall. and you can place pilars and roofs around it. to easilly tame it. sometimes only downside is often the head is in the wall.
I found a taktik and that is to use a tapejara and put the right amount of weight in so that it wont catch the quetz and then you sit in the front seat whistle attack and shoot not having to worry about whistling passive.
You can also do this with a snow owl freeze the quetzal and place 4 stone Dino gates in a line and small gaps so you can shoot through and the quetzal won’t escape once it’s trapped you can knock it out and feed it Rex kibble
Usaully for larger tames I try to kite them, but really the Argy method could be used for taming most large creatures. Maybe just used directional controls though.
So im on a server with no flyers so i cant use saddles on the flyers. Do you think the cross bow with grappling hook would still work. I could tame a bird easly then just grapple onto them and let them fly around with me under. Any tips or ideas for people that cant use a flyer?

This is probably quite obvious but I take it that you can't just grapple the quetzal and shoot it
If you grapple it, the quetzal starts running and you grapple won't hold on to it when it flys away and you fall and die.
You can grapple onto any passive/non-aggressive dino but the second you agro/attack it, the grapple will break.
colby randall yeah good thinking though
colby randall wow that's smart

Once you tame your first quetz you can build a quetz trap on a platform saddle. Makes taming more alot easier.
My first quetz name was Johnny Cage lol
Griffins are the most op things now devs need to fix them
I think the devs have a lot more things they need to fix before touching another flyer.
Griffons don't have the benefit of saddle defenses and consume stamina at a very high rate when climbing fast with shift key to swoop. They can be slowed to a halt when stuck with c4 (if you don't detonate) and picked off easily with ranged weaponry. What's so OP about it?

no, the voice i use with m1sbah is recorded on shadow play but on these vids i record it after
Alternate first method: Get a tapejara with a saddle and whistle target on the quetzal, get in the second seat and ready your ranged torpor weapon, and shoot. Its like the crossbow argy method but without the risk of falling, as well as the fact that the argy might kill the quetzal, which happened to my friend.

Griffins r definitely my favourite animal of all its fun to tame and ride with has the good looks and fluid animation also a good pvp flyer and a good pve utility/weight bird along its the fact it has access to rider weaponry is just great
Thanks for all the analytical videos my guy I’m a shitter at this game and you’re helping a lot cheers my guy.
the funny thing is I find this video today and I literally just tamed my own quetzal last night using my argy and grappling hook technique with tranq arrows on primitive plus worked out really well now tapejara on the other hand...
Your vids are Always helpful every time I watch one and try it it works really well thanks Steve
My dude, you sound like Nigel Thornberry and that is smashing
sometimes if your lucky a quetz get stuck in such a wall. and you can place pilars and roofs around it. to easilly tame it. sometimes only downside is often the head is in the wall.
This video was a great help now I can tame a Quetzal solo................... hopefully
Thanks for update video i was going to ask you to make one because iv been struggling to bring one down i play singel player i will try it out
Thanks so much for how to tame the Quetzal, I am playing solo and this video helped me soooo much
Usaully for larger tames I try to kite them, but really the Argy method could be used for taming most large creatures. Maybe just used directional controls though.
Thx man, tamed a tek quetzal lvl 174
@Finn KNIGHT oh that b*tch ass gonna have a bad time.
So im on a server with no flyers so i cant use saddles on the flyers.
Do you think the cross bow with grappling hook would still work. I could tame a bird easly then just grapple onto them and let them fly around with me under.
Any tips or ideas for people that cant use a flyer?
Hey nooblets Im a fan of your work man from your ways to tame to building that o.p base on the center and I loved the raid that came behind it but as you had said it only got stronger as they tried to brake in. Keep up the good work
Mad skills! Driving and shooting at the same time. I usually end up going straight past it. lol Have to work on my arrow keys.
Thanks for another great video. Hey out of curiosity does anyone know what server settings he uses on his ragnarok lets play? Ive looked around trying to find them but I haven't been successful! :)
Thanks for the help Mr. Nooblet
