I was nervous about doing the air train, but would recommend. Very easy and there was plenty of room on the train for bags! Not expensive at all and fastest with NYC traffic!
The lounge that you was talking about is actually available for anyone who’s booked in 1903 or escape . We booked into escape last year and then went to chill in that bit for abit
I watched another vlog this week talking about a larger than normal New York hotel room, some guy called Theme Park Bazza maybe you’ve heard of them! Looking forward to rest of the series.
Just looked on a layout plan of the terminal for the lounge, no other lounge listed so I wonder if it’s just another room the one of the lounges. Glad you finally got to New York
We went to New York in a February as it was so cold and snow everywhere. However, it did make going around Central Park in a horse & carriage with a rug over our lap so nice.
Think the lounge behind the check in area is where they took us when it was busy because my daughter’s autistic and didn’t like the noise. They let me have a private booth area for just us three. You walked round the corner to the food area. It was so nice there. Very relaxed and quiet. I was really grateful to them for helping me.
Omg, the cab story brought back a memory. 3 of us traveling in the back of a compact car and the driver kept slamming on the breaks. We ere all queasy when got to the hotel and the bonus moment was when the trunk lid came down and booked me on the forehead.
WOW!!! WOW!!! With ziz you are really spoiling us Leigh!!!! What a fantastic vlog! The styling!!! The music!! Inserts!! Blinking heck you fabulous Yorkshireman, it's absolutely fan-dabie- dozzie!!! New styles, very 'al-a-mode' as my old Nan would say. It's utterly beautiful and I can't wait to see the rest! You guys are killing it!!! I hope you gain a billion followers from this series. You deserve it 10 fold+ the styling is just unbelievable. Congratulations! I'm gushing, loved it. Blown away. I'm so happy for you, having fun & smashing youtube too. I don't have a job atm, but as soon as I do, I'm a patreon 4SURE and can't wait to meet you both. You're my kind of people. X Have the bestest time ever!!! Never forget to remember where you are! Promise! Xx
Glad you had the experience of a new York taxi ride😊😮. Yes it is something everyone needs to do, the driving on the divider line and zipping around pedestrians, other cars and the myriad of tour busses and public busses should last along time.
Felt your excitement….my last trip to New York was just before Christmas 2017….. and we had almost the same view of the Empire State Building from our hotel window….. it was magical at Christmas, fulfilled a dream and was everything I wanted it to be….. very exciting city…. Enjoy your adventure x
Im sure I looked at that hotel when me and my friends went but they didnt have twin rooms. We stayed at The New Yorker hotel loved it so close to things and just round the corner from Skyline
I loved this vlog, the smiles on your faces just said everything about how you were feeling at that time. We were exactly the same, just couldn’t stop saying “ I can’t believe we are here”. Hey Leigh we actually went to Harry Potter and the cursed child and it was so good. Looking forward to the rest of your adventures. Thanks Leigh & Nick your work is so much appreciated xx
Great vlog. Stayed in that hotel a few years ago now. Loved being so near to the Empire State Building. Great location. Brought back some great memories 👌 😊 x
When you showed Macy's out the window The New Yorker is up past Macy's. We arrived on a Thursday and Friday was a sale so we spent the morning in there
Loved the first holiday vlog, New York reminds me of the TV Programme cheers. The hotel is amazing and that food, well I think you've eaten your holiday allowance.🤣🤣 Here's to the next vlog. ❤❤
New York stole my heart last week after two weeks there for work and fun. Miss is so much. Shame you weren’t a little later for the heatwave their currently having there but it’s a great time whatever the weather! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What can i say, enjoyed the vlog from start to finish, looking forward to the next instalment, hope you both got to do all the things you wanted to do, Thankyou xx
NYC taxi drivers do drive crazy! One of the funniest cab rides back to JFK we’ve ever had with the taxi driver shouting at anyone who got in his way🙈 Cheaper than a taxi is getting the Air train to Jamaica Station then the Long Island Railway to Penn Station. But if your staying in Midtown they now how a direct line from Jamaica Station to Grand Central it leaves every 15 mins. Both are much better & nicer than getting the Subway into the city. Xx
Jennifer and I went to New York last September. Our taxi journey into manhatten was exactly the same as yours, horrible journey. I dont know how they get away with it. We stayed just across from madison Square garden. Walked for miles every day. Best things?, empire state building, central park, and boat trip to statue of liberty. 911 memorial is worth a look, horrible feeling when there. Great videos guys, hope you are well. Take care.
I really enjoyed this. Particularly since I went to New York for the first time at the end of March. I flew with Virgin from Heathrow and stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Times Square itself, which was amazing. Passport control at JFK was brutally long (2 hours +). But I took the Airtrain to Jamaica, then the Long Island Rail Road to the brand new Grand Central Madison terminal. It took just 40 minutes from JFK and cost around $18 in total. I’d really recommend that.
So excited to follow along with your travels! I can confirm that your hotel room made mine look like Harry Potters cupboard under the stairs, you’re lucky you had a double bed, mine was a single for two people at best😂 enjoy your travels, can’t wait to see more😊
Oh, Nick! 💯on the taxi. I rode from JFK into Manhattan once and I will never do it again. It was ridiculously expensive and I got sick as a dog. I took the subway/train on the way back. $80 for a cab vs. like $10 for the subway/train. And no puking. No contest.
We must have just missed you. We were there around the same time. Funny thing too was that Ryan and Aiden were supposed to meet us there too but they were not able to make. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the adventure.
Lol at you guys describing the taxi ride, Welcome to NYC! I grew up in NYC and i will NEVER drive there because of how everyone drives. I live in FL and swear theres no comparison!
Thanks for the advice about getting the air train if you get travel sick Leigh. I do so great tip! I’d love to go to New York and have been so excited for your videos 🤍 can’t wait to see them all and the rest of your trip
So fun watching you guys in NYC for the first time. Amazing city. The airtrain-Long Island Railroad to Grand Central or Penn Station is the quickest best way to get into the city. Only $15. 20 minutes. Recommendation for a fun gay classic piano bar on 58th between 2nd and 3rd. Classic NYC. Fun for after dinner. Also, try to take a tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Viator has a 2.5 hour tour which is brilliant. Have a blast.
Lol newyork cabbies need to be lunatics to drive in NY! Great vlog x I love walking up to Central Park from midtown! First time we went to NY I couldn’t believe the height of the buildings ! Love walking down 5 th when the snow comes down magical !
We paid $137 return for a private car, plus we tipped the driver, really good service. The building with the new year eve ball on has been empty for more than 10 years the guide said, with no gas or electricity connected and the screen outside pays the ground rent. We went to Los Tacos in Chelsea market.
Almost had tears in my eyes for you , when could see how exited you both where and happy you where to be in NYC . It’s fab isn’t it ! We we’ve been a few times , always in September which is so beautiful there then. I recognised your hotel as soon as I saw you walking up to it and realised it was actually wher we stayed , many years ago , it was called the. Metro then . The rooms had the same facade on the walls but obviously now updated . We sat on the roof top bar , many a night and yes the state building did light up different colours . I’m so exited for you both , can’t wait to see the rest of your trip and exiting time for you and me both . Take care . Sending hugs 🤗 xx
Our first trip we landed at Newark got the train into Penn Station and our hotel was just a 3 min walk away. Our next trip we landed at JFK and to get to the same hotel was a total s&*t show
Hi guys loved the video. I went to New York back in 2017 after a quick look at the map the hotel i stayed in is just across the road from where you guys are haha. The yellow taxi is definitely the easiest way to get from the airport i think you were just unlucky with your driver as the one we had was absolutely fine. Looking forward to the rest of the vlogs!!!
Me and my daughter were there July of last year staying just the other side of the Empire State to you. It was that hot in July, I was lay on the grass in Bryant Park trying to recoup enough energy to make it back to the hotel. I looked a hot mess 10 minutes after leaving the hotel each day, I even had a neck fan recommended by yourselves 🥵
I loved this vlog, thank you for sharing with us, watching you both giddy with excitement when you first went out on foot m into New York, brought back so many memories from when I went back in 2019. I’m excited to see the rest of your time in the big apple. 😊
We love seeing your happy!! Wonderful vlog and thank you for letting us share your holiday. Never change, you guys are one in a million ! Love from the Netherlands xx
Great travel day vlog. So happy you got a trip to New York Leigh. Looking forward to all the coming videos. Another British vlogger I was - It’s Em - stayed in the same hotel. She and her husband were there between Christmas and New Year. She kept taking her coat off because it was so warm 😂😂😂

Hi you 2 what a great vlog you shaw have seen the world you lucky things, cant wait to see the ones with your family loved the ones with Bazza, i still love my Cyprus🥰🤣.
It’s been over 25 years since I’ve been in New York City, so there’s a lot that’s different, of course, as well as many things that are the same. We usually stayed closer to the theatre district a majority of times I went there back in the 70s, and I once stayed with a friend at an apartment on the Upper West Side. Back then Times Square didn’t have all of the screens, though there were still plenty of lights. It sounds like what you had was authentic New York-style cheesecake. To most New Yorkers, what you’re used to as cheesecake is not cheesecake at all. Anyway, it’s an exciting city, and I hope I get a chance to go back again someday.
My happy place & you visited one of my fave places Los Tacos No1, The yellow taxi we went was also driven by a lunatic , he actually aqua-plained about 30ft driving in torrential rain whilst my family were asleep in the back of the taxi , they recall nothing i on the other hand still recall the sheer horror of ski-ing on tarmac and water 🤣🤣 looking forward to more NYC Vlogs - and fingers crossed for an Ellens stardust diner visit.....
We are off to New York in May so all the info you are giving is invaluable. We are staying Airbnb in West New York so hopefully a bit quieter 😊taxi info from airport also so helpful. Is Uber a better bet?. And los tacos is Def on our list now. Can't wait to see what happens next
We had a similar taxi driver the first time we went to NY. It was like a white knuckle ride which was appropriate as he kept shouting “knucklehead” to other drivers he cut up. The big dent in his cab should have tipped us off.
Great vlog guys! You shouldn’t have had to pay any more than the fix $82 taxi fee ( $75 plus $7 peak time) all tolls and congestion are included in the $82 and then any tips on top. One place I wish we visited was Los Taco 🌮 Enjoy the rest of your trip! x
I was nervous about doing the air train, but would recommend. Very easy and there was plenty of room on the train for bags! Not expensive at all and fastest with NYC traffic!

22:02 Yes, you should have just taken the SkyTrain and then the A train into town. Much cheaper.
yeah we didn't want to do that on our first trip until wed familiarised ourselves with their metro network

We also used this part of the lounge too. It’s still Escape lounge but a lovely quieter area, ideal for those who need the space and quiet 👍🏻
I'm addicted...your vlog is not only smooth..beautiful...fabulous...its also very honest !!! Love it. X
I believe that lounge is the overflow for walk ins when the other 2 are full
That lounge is part of escape in case of overflow.
aspire lounge is downstairs.
Good video guys 👌 The lounge you were referring to was just the overspill area for the escape lounge.
Omg, the cab story brought back a memory. 3 of us traveling in the back of a compact car and the driver kept slamming on the breaks. We ere all queasy when got to the hotel and the bonus moment was when the trunk lid came down and booked me on the forehead.
It’s the over flow for Escape Lounge, you can sit in either x

You guys look SOOOO HAPPY! I am so glad Leigh finally made it to New York City.
We stayed here when it was the hotel metro about 30 years ago! It was great then too!😊

Im Lol at the cab ride. As a New Yorker for over a decade that’s just how they are haha

Thats interesting to know about the building. Youd think every building in that area would be in high demand
I remember the Constant sirens when I was there going alseep at night was so loud 😂😂

Hi Nick and Leigh the other lounge area is just part of the escape lounge :)
Good to know, looks like a nice area
Our first trip we landed at Newark got the train into Penn Station and our hotel was just a 3 min walk away. Our next trip we landed at JFK and to get to the same hotel was a total s&*t show
Safe travels. Looking forward to the of the trip

From the Airport?
@@TheLodgeGuys yes need to pre book with them.
Love how giddy you are 😂 we were the same, it’s like being in a movie set! A fabulous city ❤
Thanks guys! Great one again!!!
Thanks Norma
I loved this vlog, thank you for sharing with us, watching you both giddy with excitement when you first went out on foot m into New York, brought back so many memories from when I went back in 2019. I’m excited to see the rest of your time in the big apple. 😊

The other Virgin flight was more than likely heading for Barbados as we have been on that flight umpteen times😁
You like Barbados then ? Is it a lot of beaches ?
@@TheLodgeGuys Plenty of great beaches & restaurants plus fantastic Rum & historic places to visit.
Great vlog guys. I went to New York in June and it was so hot and stuffy. I couldn't believe how noisy it was, it literally is the city that never sleeps. I loved it though. Can't wait to watch your videos 🎉🎉🎉
Always travel with a couple of packets of biscuits and a tube of Pringles in the case 😋
Me and my mum stayed in the wellington and the room was massive compared to yours. Must have been 5x bigger . We had a view of times square. New York is amazing .
I loved seeing your happy faces. I live in New Jersey and New York (“the city”) isn’t as special to me since it’s so close. I guess I would have the same reaction as if I went to London as you were having here. I hope you had fun. Stay safe and can’t wait for the rest of the vlogs. I love your travel vlogs they give me such joy.
Thanks Donna ❤️
Loving the new upbeat music, think it’s the first time I’ve seen Nick not travel in shorts 😂😂
Why the cab take the Long Island railroad way quicker and total cost with airport fee 26 US. Takes you into Penn or times Square
Cab seemed easier for first timers with luggage. We would do it different next time for sure
The Long Island railroad it such a breeze even with luggage, it stops at Penn Station, or Grand Central. It’s much quicker than the cab, in off peak times it’s not at all busy…
Hi you 2 what a great vlog you shaw have seen the world you lucky things, cant wait to see the ones with your family loved the ones with Bazza, i still love my Cyprus🥰🤣.
Where is the best place to stay in Cyprus please?
When was this film guys are we still on pre done vlogs thanks enjoy the trip
Last month
This is making me so buzzing to get there next Monday!! 🙌🏽 can’t wait to try los tacos, looks amazing xxx
Those tacos we're so good and the weather is so much better there now
It’s been over 25 years since I’ve been in New York City, so there’s a lot that’s different, of course, as well as many things that are the same. We usually stayed closer to the theatre district a majority of times I went there back in the 70s, and I once stayed with a friend at an apartment on the Upper West Side. To be fair the train into penn station from jfk is easy peasey and cheap ! If you fly into Newark we love the bus to port authority !
We are going to New York in December and your video is sooo helpful. Tell me one thing, did you use the Escape Lounge or 1903?
My happy place & you visited one of my fave places Los Tacos No1, The yellow taxi we went was also driven by a lunatic , he actually aqua-plained about 30ft driving in torrential rain whilst my family were asleep in the back of the taxi , they recall nothing i on the other hand still recall the sheer horror of ski-ing on tarmac and water 🤣🤣 looking forward to more NYC Vlogs - and fingers crossed for an Ellens stardust diner visit.....

This trip is such a good idea - whether you’re American or not. Going to Disney first week of May n hope to see y’all there! Much 💖 from Houston
