    Sir what you said is definitely true but I want to know one thing the big tech giants in HW industry such as Qualcomm or Intel mostly selectes from big IITs and nits so doing mtech may be worth on condition they are from top iits and nits
    As I don't think these vlsi training institutes directly have their placement assistance to the companies such as Qualcomm or Intel

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому

      Yes,you are absolutely correct. But if someone get placed through vlsi training centre placement then after 3-4 years they can easily move to companies like Intel, Qualcomm and may be with the more package than a m.tech students from IIT or NIT.
      Few companies do outsourcing their employees(while they are freshers) to companies like Qualcomm,Intel after giving 3-4 months training means they will go to these companies and work there and not in the parent company.
      Joining small company has its own advantage and prepare someone for something big.

      Front -end itself is very big profile. You can watch my front -end video to know more about it.

    Hi,
    I have 6 years of teaching experience as assistant professor in Electronics and communication department. Because of personal reasons I quit my job in 2018 and since then I started business in non technical field . As an assistant professor I have always loved teaching electronics subjects and now I really want to get into VLSI industry. I am interested in physical design, I was thinking of taking up course on full custom ASIC design. It's quite expensive.. Is it worth it? Or do you suggest something else? I am 36 years old, currently placed in Bangalore.
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello,
      Glad to hear, you believe that you deserve better.
      You can enter vlsi industry if you have someone known who can give you reference or through campus drive or walk in.
      VLSI training centre might give you an opportunity but it's not 100% sure. So even if you want to join then make sure ask all your query as you pay a lot of money. Your teaching experience will be a biggest advantage for you if you get a job interview.
      Today's VLSI industry is more like a software job means they follow software culture. It's no more a special job( as it was few years ago) because this market has been saturated in India. What I meant is one shouldn't regret coming into this vlsi domain thinking it's different than other job. But yes, it's true that future is very good once someone get experience, but only for hardworking individual.
      Full custom Asic is a very good option but in India it has very less opportunity and again freshers usually don't choose this field.
      System verilog based verification has more opportunities than other field in India but physical design also a good option but only when you do this course from any branded training centre.

    I know that C/C++, one scripting language, verilog, system verilog, uvm and amba.
    Any suggestions?

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому +2

      Honestly speaking, Verification is not exactly a vlsi hardware related job, it's pure vlsi software job. It's more like software coding.
      If you get vlsi job from campus placement then the job that will be assigned to you is random. It may be Verification also.
      If you try outside college campus then you can get in 2 ways
      1) through reference, if someone is working in verification
      2) vlsi training, only in reputed institute.
      As per information you provided, you have basics knowledge to get verification job. It's enough. During verification job interview they expect freshers to know digital logic concepts, most important is FSM design, System verilog is a great advantage, C++ is bonus. These are the concepts they expect from you, nothing much.
      So what you need is a opportunity.
      NITS brand will help you to get a job/internship.
      My last advice is don't be so choosy that you want only verification job. Whatever profile you get just accept it. If you really want verification job then after joining any company you can very easily switch to that job.

      You can enter vlsi industry and your B.tech passed out year won't be a problem only when you prove your worth during interview. If you think you deserve better than you attact it.
      Fill your year gap with knowledge, positivity,self motivation etc.
      you need to work hard, learn basic concepts like verilog coding, C , digital logic design, whatever your area of interests are. Prepare yourself.
      If someone is providing an opportunity then you must respect it and work for it.
      It's not about the opportunity but it's all about your attitude towards learning new things, explore possibilities, doing hard work and achieve your goals.
      VLSI industry provides a great career for hard worker, self Learner, knowledge explorer. Hope you are one of them.
      Today's VLSI world is more like software field. VLSI job culture is more like software job culture. So vlsi is no more special but it's just another type of job available like any other job.
      So be sure what you want and how you see yourself in the near future.
      You are most welcome to ask any query you have.
      All the very best.

    Sir 12th mark is around 56 percent so how much it affects for placement, Acdamic marks is 60 percent >. Sir please reply 🙏

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  Рік тому +1

      There are many companies who don't bother about your marks except your knowledge. But yes there are companies who ask for min 60% but these are the not only companies.
      This is also true that people regret scoring less marks in 10 and 12 when you are better than others but being rejected only because of marks. So have patience and work hard. APNA TIME AAEGA.
      So my suggestion would be replace your 12th percentage with your knowledge or experience so that you will be judged based on your knowledge and not marks.
      Once you get min 1 year experience no one will ask you marks again.

    1. I'm in 4th yr of my b.tech ece and planning to take a drop for gate...so which will me more benificial?? Gate or training institute?
    2. Is there any good institute in west bengal??

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому +1

      1. Gate is all about your belief (but not over confidence) on yourself whether you can do it or not . It's only possible when you have strong determination with not ignorant of pros and cons. If you go for GATE , you must know other side of story also like GATE success rate, what exactly you want from it whether job or m.tech, if couldn't qualify then what ? How much time you can spend for it ? you must have back up plan. I am not scaring you but I am telling the truth which many ignore. I am not against GATE because I myself has done my M.tech after GATE Exam.when I qualified that time it was only for M.tech and never for JOB. For me, GATE is a kind of rat race which many run after.
      If you are financially stable, have a dream to achieve something great academically or can crack IIT M. tech. then go for it.
      But if you are not interested at all in higher study and don't want to spend more time to get a job then you can go for VLSI or embedded training. Work hard and you may get a job. Most of the M.tech colleges teach garbage in M tech except very few.
      2. To my knowledge no training centre in West Bengal. You have to go out to places like Bangalore, Hyderabad etc.

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому

      If you take VLSI training and if it's RTL design( or ASIC DESIGN) or verification then they will teach only basics of digital electronics and may or may not about CMOS Design. These knowledge you might have already. So don't worry about subject , any one can learn. But the important part is Coding skill which someone has to understand the flow and practice it to master it. Coding is a skill and a skill can be developed with constant practice. GATE demotivates many and GATE is not all. Beyond GATE there is a beautiful experience. if you put little hardwork in VLSI training and if the training is from some reputed organization which provides placement opportunities then no one can stop to get into VLSI field.

      it's also very important to choose a VLSI field like verilog, System verilog, analog design, physical design etc than to choose a VLSI training centre.
      My first preference is always CDAC(govt).
      Next are NIELIT CALICUT(govt), veda IIT,maven silicon,rv VLSI . These are few names famous for VLSI training.
      But my suggestion would be before joining any training centre visit the training centre and get the details like placement opportunities, if you have any academic related issues like B.tech percentage,year gap etc. It's far better if you somehow manage to talk with the students of already undergoing training in the centre(As you will be paying a huge amount of money, it's better to ask all your query to training centre). No training centre can assure you 100% placement so choose wisely.
      There are many many small training centre, may be they are best interms of teaching but due to their marketing strategy many don't know about them. One such is Nano CDAC Hyderabad (it's not cdac) and many in Bangalore City.
      Finally, it's your hardwork and curiosity to learn new knowledge that helps you to get your dream job. Definitely , training centre helps to achieve it.

      Try for product based company like NI,AMD,KEYSIGHT,XILINX etc . Here salary is very good with very good chances to go up in position but there will be frequent journey to visit different places for your company products. You can even become technical manager of the company .
      If you want to change to vlsi engineering work than you have three option.
      1) search for new jobs with your FAE experience.
      2) as an FAE when you visit different technical places, make good connection with the person you will be dealing with. If you help them to achieve their job then they will definitely help you to achieve yours. A great connection is the best source to get a VLSI job. Sometimes you will be having more knowledge at particular things than VLSI engineer.
      3)As you will be part of some technical place make sure you know the people very well where you work. Believe me when you are technically sound even your own company won't deny a job when there will be vacancy for vlsi engineer. So make good connection both in your own workplace and the place where you will be visiting .
      The best part is, after few, say 10 to 15 years of experience in VLSI domain, vlsi engineer becomes a technical manager. So they just manage engineers and they mostly don't do engineering work same like FAE.
      One guy , passed out from BITS Pilani, working in NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS as FAE was visiting the place where I was working. He had a very good technical and communication skill. His salary was very much than my project manager.
      So work as FAE till you get new job or if you like than continue it .
      Hope it helps.

My question is will 2 year gap can cause a problem in placement because i don't gain a experience or any certificate during this years. Would i fit in placement criteria for company.

      Your 2 year gap won't be a problem but they will ask you the reason for your year gap and if you will be able to handle the situation that time then you win for sure. Tell them you were preparing for GATE and everything will be OK. But try to learn as much as vlsi knowledge as you can and with this knowledge you can fill your year gap. So don't worry , concentrate on maximum learning and you will be always on safe side.

      Most probably MAVEN will provide a job interview to it's training students. This job opportunity is more important than a job. Some may not get training opportunities for various reason. So yes , if MAVEN is providing placement opportunities then it's a good VLSI training centre.
      VLSI training centre are evaluated not on its quality of education but it's placement opportunities

      Yes, it's possible to work in vlsi field. But knowledge like verilog coding, basic of C is always advantage, digital electronics knowledge is must. These requirements are for RTL design job
      But if you are interested in analog vlsi design then analog electronics knowledge is must.
      If you choose verification field then system verilog and C++ is must.
      So different vlsi fields like DFT,LAYOUT, PHYSICAL DESIGN,MIXED SIGNAL DESIGN requirements are different .
      If possible join any vlsi training centre which offers job assistance because off campus placement is almost NIL.
      So first choose the field that you want to work in.

      There are many who join VLSI coaching center just to get a job. Yes, you can always join and once you start learning either you will choose this as a career or regret having spent money and time. This is the truth. Hardly 1% b tech graduates know about VLSI technology just after their graduation and rest simply join coaching center like joining GATE coaching center because your friends are joining. So don't worry. If you are financially stable then you can join VLSI training centre and then work hard and get a job.

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому

      If you are financially strong then you can move. If you love your present job then no need to join vlsi as vlsi and software work culture are almost same.
      If you don't know anyone in vlsi industry then it's hard to get vlsi job so it needs lot of patience and frustration(so you must be financially strong to support your family)if you do vlsi training and don't get placed(off campus drive is rare in vlsi industry). If you get placed through vlsi training centre placement then you are a lucky one (but once you join vlsi company you have to work hard and love your work to grow. It's so true that vlsi experience will no doubt gives you a great pay package and hard work is must in VLSI industry and deserving person can only survive in this field)
      Now, yes , if you join any branded training centre and work hard then you can get vlsi job. But as you have a job so you need to think for a while to leave it as getting job these days are hard and that also vlsi job . I always recommend vlsi job to freshers (as no other option)and working people who doesn't like their job and if they are financially strong as we all know not getting placed after vlsi training/ mtech vlsi is big frustration and this may consume your time .
      I m not scaring but this is the reality.
      If are planning to join then visit that vlsi training centre and get all the details like placement opportunities and quality of teaching , have a chat with students undergoing training and then decide. All the best.

      First, join LinkedIn if you have not. Make good profile on LinkedIn and make connections. Make your skill visible to people working in VLSI industry.
      Second, make a great CV, send CV to companies , even to startup. Most important is your patience. So keep sending and wait for the response.(many VLSI related companies are there in india)
      Third, many times VLSI training centers also provide job opportunities like project trainee or lab assistant , if you find any, without thinking apply for it(CDAC,NIELIT are such two govt.organization)
      Fourth, Apply for internship and not job . Mention in your mail that even if it's internship then also you are OK. Means you want experience and not money minded.
      Fifth, if you get opportunity for company which is not exactly VLSI but related to it like PCB, Embedded then also join, because after experience you can always switch
      Sixth, Don't stop learning, update your knowledge as per VLSI industry requirements.
      Hope it helps.

      If you want you can write GATE exam and then m.tech (and then PHD).its a best option only if all your circumstances support you.
      You have option like joining govt. Places like DRDO,CSIR lab etc as JRF,SRF(they do VLSI project) and then VLSI company.
      There are so many VLSI training centre but the one which provides placement and has brand value should be your first preference.
      If govt organization then CDAC,NIELIT
      If private then VEDA,MAVEN.There are many more(rv VLSI, silicon system,nano CDAC,VLSI guru etc). you have to explore which one is best. If you explore you will get more information.But I will always go with CDAC or NIELIT if I want to learn with placement opportunities.
      choose wisely after long research and not in emotion. Again it depends on which VLSI field you want like RTL, LAYOUT, PHYSICAL DESIGN, VERIFICATION,DFT,ANALOG,MIXED SIGNAL.
      At the end you have to decide . Hope it helps.

      It depends. NIELIT has one of the best VLSI and embedded lab. They have experienced faculty. They also provide m.tech through gate. But placement wise it's always CDAC . Because CDAC is a brand (it has good faculty and lab too). Many don't know NIELIT because of its location. There are many place where NIELIT is but the best one which provides VLSI training is Calicut, kerala.so location and brand matters a lot during placement.
      CDAC also has many branch and not all centre provide placement. So one has to find the details about placement and quality of teaching before joining.
      But I would go with CDAC (Hyderabad) for placement.

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  2 роки тому

      Vlsi training are on very specific field . Training gives you the entry pass to job opportunity. But truth is M tech courses are very different than what vlsi training centre teach you. Verilog is never taught or hardly taught during M.tech but you will have lab but training centre provides this course.
      Physical design is completely different in training centre and M.tech will teach you algorithm while training centre students never heard about it. They learn just basic to get a job.
      STA in Mtech and training centre are different.
      VLSI DSP is never taught in training centre but in m.tech only
      Analog design course is different in training centre and M.tech.
      Verification is never taught in m.tech.
      So what I am trying to tell is m.tech or ms is very much theoretical and research oriented. After m.tech If you get a job then you can Excel but
      Vlsi training centre provides knowledge which is very specific and trains you to get a job without even teaching the core knowledge or real vlsi concept.
      So for me higher education is more valuable than vlsi training only if you have patience and eagerness to learn.
      If you are after job only and no motive to do higher study then vlsi training is best
      If you are financially strong and want to explore knowledge then you can definitely go abroad. (people go abroad for PHD in VLSI field and it gives more value to their profile) so choose wisely.

So existence of maven is well known to VLSI job recruiter like CDAC. it helps maven to get VLSI companies for their placement. This is how VLSI company visits maven for placement. Maven provides you the opportunity and you have to work hard for that. Here I never mentioned about quality of training. If you are a fresher (4th year ),then you mustn't be choosy means you shouldn't have the mindset to go for only one kind of job unless it's IAS,IES. Like so many are aimlessly preparing for GATE, they even prepare for 4 to 5 year without having any job. So these people are choosy( If you can't think beyond you will remain in the system)They simply end up wasting their valuable year thinking, end will be better but believe me end is almost same for all of us . you become happy when you make your life easy and grab the opportunity that comes your way.
      If you are not meant for the job you are doing then definitely you will look for other and then another and this process continues until you you like the work you do or you do the work that you like.
      If you realise at some point of your life that you deserve better then you will work for it. Even your previous experience will help you to find your dream work by providing you enough skill .
      I believe, guidance is most for all engineering students.

      VLSI companies mostly don't mention year gap while give job notification so it's won't be an issue. But yes during interview they will ask about it. Diploma students have more opportunities to work in PSU than B.Tech. NTPC,SAIL etc recruit many diploma ET with great salary. But I am not sure about present condition. Few years back the above information was true.
      I am providing a career option, please explore a little.
      There is a institute in Bhubaneswar called MSME Bhubaneswar. It's central govt. They provide practical training to students from class 8 to B.Tech. This is one of the best place to learn about industrial knowledge. It's admission process is first come first and completely free for SC/ST students. They have hostel facilities too.They also provide placement.
      - Else join any technical job even salary is less. Learn the skill and earn more at later phase. Don't go after money , go after knowledge and skill.
      - An electrician earn more than a Normal B.Tech guy when he is skilled in city like Mumbai.
      So what I am trying to say is learn the practical knowledge and you will have a great career.

      VLSI includes many things. VLSI is not a isolated term. It includes device physics to chip fabrication. VLSI is a technology and not just a course that people study.
      So what I mean is a there is no such thing called VLSI like VLSI Engineer doesn't exist .
      So choose a topic , let's say timing analysis. Then learn about it from internet. That's the best option.
      When you follow many sources you will find the best one depending on what you want and how depth you want to learn.

    Do VLSI companies put class 10th and 12th 60% eligibility criteria ??

    • @ComponentByte
      @ComponentByte  3 роки тому +1

      Depends. But many don't bother. If you join any VLSI training centre then they set criteria during placement like 65 or 70%( many freshers get placement from VLSI training centre, so it might be a problem as very few or NO off campus drive for freshers)
      Synopsis set 70% criteria throughout career.
      So it depends on companies . If they visit college then they will give you criteria(but here there will be more flexibility, many times they simply ask b.tech %). But it's not like software job.
      So it's yes and No.
      if you have 1 year experience in VLSI domain, no one aaks your percentage
      The good thing is most of them don't evaluate you based on your percentage.

      Some based on B.Tech and M.tech
