I am enjoying watching you two reacting much more than I ever enjoyed watching the actual movie. I hope one day if you ever visit the US, the two of you get to do something in person.
It's great to see you and Sensei Vidal hanging out and having a good time together. More people should know about him and how he helped create the magic of the first Karate Kid film. I *really* hope he eventually appears in Cobra Kai in person (the series has already mentioned his name several times...it's like the producers are teasing us).
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.” Bruce Lee.
Great reaction from you and Sensei Vidal! Always wanted to see your reaction to Bruce Lee. No better film to start off with than Enter The Dragon. Cool that Sensei Vidal pointed out Pat Johnson. As for the sister, that was Angela Mao. She was a famous actor in Chinese films. Her skills are actually from Hapkido! Can’t wait to see more of the reactions!
I've watched Bruce Lee- Enter The Dragon so many times, to me it's the benchmark. A good story, brilliant and very on point music, interesting characters and a good setting. The whole tone of this film makes for a perfect martial arts movie.
The person who did music is "Lalo Shifrin" who is arguably the most iconic composer in movie history! He did the theme for Mission Impossible & the scores for Cool Hand Luke, Amityville Horror, and Rush Hour trilogy! P.S. Ennio Morricone (The Thing & The Good Bad and Ugly) and John Williams (Star Wars & Jaws) are IMHO the top 3, along with Lalo!
American Slang at work, when Vidal says that BKF had some of the "baddest fighters", bad means greatest in this context. Jim Kelly trained with Steve Sanders who later changed his name to Steve Muhammad. Osu !
The guy doing the back flip at the end of the opening fight was not Bruce but Yuen Wah...a common Bruce Lee stunt-double. Also play the landlord in Kung fu Hustle.
Thank you for that Sensei. I really love this movie a real piece of true art. Daryl Vidal is a great guy I can tell without knowing him, and when I saw KK1 I was impressed by his abilities. I knew right away it's a real martial artist. Too bad I was busy today when it was aired. And you don't know how I would wish to watch Kickboxer with you and to react. But if not with anyone please do Kickboxer.
I love Bruce Lees movies and philosophy, i personally study, train and practice his fighting system of Jeet Kune Do and seeing you watch this movie is interesting because of the different perspectives of other fighters. Also Bruce Lee finished four films which are The Big Boss, Fists of Fury, Way of the Dragon and Enter the Dragon in that order, and the fifth film Game of Death was never finished because he unfortunately died before it's completion.

I just want to say that SENSEI VIDAL is the FIRST person to do the CRANE KICK in the Karate Kick movie! I know it was you doubling for Pat Morita on the beach, when Daniel see's "Mr Myagi" doing the Crane Kick on the post. Put some respect on Sensei Vidal's name.
2:34 Lalo Schriffrin best known for the "Mission Impossible" theme 2:53 "That's not kung fu!" - That's one of Bruce's doubles, who would either be Yuen Biao or Yuen Wah (Landlord from "Kung Fu Hustle")
Understandably many people focus on the amazing physical feats of Bruce Lee; however, I think those would have quickly faded into past memories if it weren’t for Bruce Lee’s deeper contributions to martial arts, especially in the US. His philosophy, strategy, spirituality, and strident positions on diversity and unity make him a true legend. Not unlike Muhammad Ali became more than simply a boxer, Bruce Lee became more than a martial artist, while simultaneously defining exactly what a martial artist should be. ✌️
Up until the 80s it was standard practice to cast martial artists, not actors, in martial arts movies. Then in the 90s they got away from that and began training actors in martial arts, as well as employing more martial arts trained stunt doubles. So as you watch martial arts movies through time the general trend is that the acting gets better but the martial arts gets worse. The rare exception is when you have someone who is a great martial artist who can also act, like Donnie Yen, Sonny Chiba, Sho Kosugi, Jackie Chan, and of course Bruce Lee.
Stunt Yeun Wah did do the monk scene somersault over the raised arms of the monks and took off Bruces cocky walk on landing. Also he did the flip off the floor when hitting Sammo Hung in the face. Yeun also did the same shoulder flip for John Saxon when he fights with Bolo. And yes, it is true that Yuen is the man who doubles for Bruce in the famed acrobatic flip in the Oharra fight sequence.
I love the commentary from Darryl. "emotional content." lol. I know it's not related, but it also makes me think about the joke about "emotional damage."
Bruce Lee used to use electricity to stimulate his muscles in rapid succession so that he could get more reps in while defining his muscles. You know the little electrodes with the pads that you stick all over your body and then you turn the machine on and you have an intensity dial to raise or lower the amount of electricity? Lots of people use it these days but he was doing it when it wasn't very well known as far as using it for workouts.
The term "Hook kick" is somewhat nebulous... There is a JKD Hook Kick which is really a round kick in common terms and then there is a Hook Kick which is normally done from the lead which uses the heel, then there is the Spinning Hook kick which is normally called a Wheel kick... Take your pick... In actual JKD the Hook kick used most often would be the JKD (normal term round) kick... which would use the JKD pendulum footwork -- that is some cool shit... :)
It's been awhile since I've seen Enter the Dragon. at 9:06, if you watch the lady's right leg, they're dragging her body across the beach with rocks, her right knee rises up to assist them, LOL. I know it hurts, but they should have put the scene where there is sand instead.

This was one of several scenes that were added in a special edition and were dubbed by someone else because Lee had only dubbed the original version of Enter the Dragon.
