Q&A - What genres of music do you enjoy? What is your current favourite band?

I want to know it too ...... is it gabber ? hardcore ? happy hardcore ? hardstyle ? (when I think about the Netherlands it's EDM) and what about dutch popmusic like ... De Sjonnies - Dans je de hele nacht met mij ^^

    Q&A Question:
    - Do you find UA-cam as a great source of "funding" and reliable income for your indie studio? If so, any plans on how to scale the channel?
    - Is orangepixel and your stability in risk if a released game seriously flops? This is my biggest fear when considering jumping into gamedev...

Fully agreed, enjoy your holidays Pascal :) you deserve it and I will buy and review your game to support this weekend.

Question for the Q&A: Have you earned enough money from the game to buy the Janitor a new broom? He's been saving up for it and to be fair, I think you should buy it for him. He's there for us literally every run.

I just found your game by virtue of having been looking at advice of releasing indie games and can I just say as a solo dev I am in AWE of that juicy game trailer :) You really know how to sell your game :)

Very happy your launch was a success. I don’t play your genre of games but I love watching your videos.

Enjoy your holiday Pascal, you've certainly earned it!
Thanks for a great video as usual you give us the warts and all details of running an indie studio!

Congrats on the game released! I hope it's your biggest hit yet. If I was working a day job these days instead of being a poor indie solo dev, I'd buy it myself, looks good!
Question: For marketing, what do you think is the number one / top use of time, which marketing avenue is vital? And related question, how much do you think having your own UA-cam channel has helped with marketing; has it been worth all the time it must take to make the videos? Thanks man!

    Questions:
    - So you are happy with the games sales and the reviews ? :)
    - Did it go as you had hoped / planned ?
    - Any obvious lessons you learned from this you could share with us ?

I love your videos and wish you all the best.
    Q&A -
What did you do as a career prior to becoming a full time indie dev?
Which part of the development process do you like the least?
Do you do much proto-typing when you have any idea for a game or just go for it?
How do you manage your work-flow?
    Cheers!

Congrats on the successful launch! Still planning to buy the Switch version, it'll be a blast from my arcade past :)
    I don't think you've answered these yet:
1- Chris Zukowski & Code Monkey did a joint Steam page review, and mentioned dev-catalog & cross-developer bundles. Any past exp / take on backcatalog bundles or cross-promo with other devs in the same genre?
2- Physical releases for indies? Seems like way too much work & cost without a publisher, esp with ratings, retail, etc. But what about an on-demand service, is that even feasible, or profitable? (Could be late in the lifecycle, after established demand.)
Enjoy the pastoral vacation with the missus, hope the money continues to heat up and the temps cool down 😄

Have a great vacation orange. Congratulations on releasing your game and managing all of that 😅.
I'll drop a question in case there aren't many but feel free to ignore if there are:
How long do you typically support your games for after launch? Is there a system you use to decide how long to push content and updates? Do you set a limit of some kind? Etc.
    Have a good one! 🎉

Regarding the prices: be careful with dismussing that. The Steam suggestion is outdated like two years, and you know a lot have happened in the economy during that time. Right now, for example, the Polish price in USD is higher than USA price in USD - which is ridiculous considering that the *median* wage in Poland is around $1000, which would be basically below poverty in USA. It's absurd. And many games are just priced like the default says, or how it said on the day it was released, so judginh by other prices might be a bit misleading.
Btw, pro tip about those super negative, aggressive comments/reviews - many times people like that, when responded to calmly and addressing only the actual issues they raised and not the insults, and generally talking to them like a human to a human, they have a very different tone when answering you later. (I'm not sure if it works that well on Steam since there is less of a tradition to answer the reply etc., but if they answer, it will probably work). It doesn't always work but very often. It's because they realise they talk to a human and not scream into a void.

Q&A: 1. Where do you find inspiration for games, is there things you do when deciding what game to do? And perhaps in addition to that. 2. How do you decide on game loops?

Thank you for the advice. I just released my first game ever „DJ Clicker - World Tour“ and experienced all that you said. 😮 Well, since I didn’t have the big numbers of players, I did send out a couple free keys to shady requests anyway. I guess it wasn’t worth it at all but yeah… live and learn I guess. 😅

Good balanced and honest assessment of your game launch. The elephant in the room, did the response to you release meet your expectations or too early to tell?
Holiday video topic, sure you need a holiday but surely you are stressing about how game's reception will play out when you are of grid. How are you dealing with that, whiskey, anxiouxness, short tempers 😲?

I know you've done some videos on marketing before, but I wonder, have you tried Steam UTM analytics? If you do, might be interesting to have a video on how you use them, and other tips you have about how you refine your marketing approach to see what's working, ie, I will sometimes tweak my store page description and watch sales / wishlists / conversions over the next period to see if it makes a difference. It would be interesting to know how you take things a step further to tweak your marketing presence to evaluate what is or is not working. Might be a good video

    • @orangepixelgames
      @orangepixelgames  Місяць тому +1

you give me too much credit! I never really look at UTM analytics. I do change up Steam images every now and then, mostly because when I then do a discount, players will see a "fresh" new image and not "auto ignore" the old image they might have seen various times before.

      @SPG-Games Місяць тому

@@orangepixelgames Fair enough! I have only just started looking at them, and I have to say, it's opened my eyes to where my online presence is being effective very quickly, and where it isn't. I've used different UTM links for certain parts of my blog to try and figure out what's effective and what isn't. Maybe it's something for you to try out and make a future video on XD

Hi, jI told you the other day that I was also launching my game on steam. I have a demo in the course of validation, I read that a demo could help sell, what do you think? Since I launched the game, I'm receiving requests for keys by email to make reviews, what do you think of that, it doesn't seem very serious to me... Thanks EDIT :I sent this message too early about the scammers 😅
