Happy Summer Solstice ! TAKE CARE..
Aloha!🤙
On my side of the world (Australia) it's the shortest day of the year. The sun is slowly going to start working it's way back my way again 👍
Hello from the other side.. haha.. S. Oregon.
Opposite seasons! Aloha to you way down there!🤙
Hopefully you tap into the energies coming through in the solstice,
You are blessed, stay blessed. Share your stories
Mahalo!🤙
It was so humid in southern New England today, it was a little low (solar production I meant)
Pristine conditions here today, but tomorrow may be different! Never know! Aloha!🤙
It so humid in Florida and in Slidell hope you doing well ❤
🏄🏼🤙
Indeed. May we be blessed with another year of many, fine kW-hrs... lol aloha.
Indeed🤙
Your having too much fun lol
Fianaly testing all night AC in my rv.
Aloha!🤙
supper for up north and winter south pole. Been a crazy spring in NY. 5 records tied or broken. 3 record high temp and 2 record low. never happened before. crazy heat wave we had. power grid in trouble. people out 10 to 20 hours in record heat. big transformer in 1 city and transmission line failure in a outher city. on different days ,different city , different power company. what the same is 50% of our grid is 60 years old or older. problem is getting worse. time for solar ,wind, hydro . and the plain is go electric . cars, heat pumps lawn mowers. but no plain for the ageing grid that can't handle the load. I love clean energy ! but the grid has to be up dated . break threw on solar panels . Quantum dots. can bring panels to 65% from the 25% range now. will take some time. just use todays panels. the price been the lowest ever per watt.
It's all about DIY to stay up and running these day's ain't it? Everyday the news is a little more intense. Much rather have my own power, always have. Aloha!🤙
Please do a video on the Winter Solstice…Have fun stay safe.
Maybe next year I will make a Stonehenge out of solar panels…
👌
I'm a winter person. I'm on solar totally. Cmon fall lol.

I’m staring into the sun today!!! Except it’s raining. Ha ha aloha
🤣Aloha!🤙
Running a Victron controller and smart shunt on my newest build. Not happy with them. Only gets my 600 ah battery bank up to about 83 to 85 percent according to the smart shunt before it throttles back the charging power to the shunt and batteries. My Renogy controller brings one of my other systems up to 14.2 volts at 100% charge state with no problem on 720 watts versus the 900 watts of panels on the Victron. Days are getting shorter which won't help matters.
Hi, dheller. I do not know if you are directly running the loads off the solar and charging the batteries at the same time. If you are doing it, then I think its a serious problem that the Victron Developers have to fix.
I am trying to convey this to the Victron Developers about this bug, but they just replied to me that putting AC loads will cause this issue but there will be no issue if there is a stable load, I honestly feel that like its a lame reply. Since in real life everybody uses an Inverter to run there loads, and its never stable, even if its not stable, the voltage drop is not that large to cause a huge problem, since it will be in 0.1V range.
What disappoints me more is that a cheap MPPT controller is able to track the Maximum PowerPoint properly than the Victron while running the load during charging. Also, if you check my videos, you can also see that the MPPT is not 98%+ efficient, its more of 94% efficient. If you have connected them to Venus OS, you can enable the DC System and check for the inaccuracy of the MPPT's Battery Charging current, the idle usage of inverter is 5W, but it shows that its consuming more than 5Watts, which basically means the MPPT is reporting the false data and is less efficient.
If you add the MPPT tracking efficiency into account, you are loosing another 5% - 10% of power which is just wasted in the panels due to poor tracking, and wears out the solar cells due to power being stuck there and then if you are drawing power from the battery, you will loose more power from it as well. Two birds with one stone.
From what I have observed, this behavior starts after the Solar power is greater than 200 - 300 watts. You can open the trends section in the Victron App and check the Voltage and Solar Power, the Voltage tends to go up and the Power harvest goes down. The voltage jump is too high and the point of reference to calculate the V x I seems to be bugged for some reason.
If others are interested in checking this, please try running a load while the solar harvest is at least 200/300 watts or above and the charging is in Bulk/Float mode. The setup I currently have is a Victron MPPT 100|50, 545W x 2 Bi-facial Panels, UTL GAMMA+ 3KVA Inverter-Charger with 75Amp MPPT Controller and a 150Ah 24v LFP battery.
Thanks for the comment. I do run a 4000-watt inverter with the Victron 150-70 controller. There are 4 300-watt panels with a Victron smart shunt that I have run in series and am now running in parallel
This all is hooked up to two 300 ah lipo batteries hooked in parallel. I run a deep freeze and a few small items in my radio room on this setup. I also have 2 smaller systems. One system has 60p watts of panels in parallel and a Renogy 60 and controller, 3000 watt inverter, and two 200 ah lipoo 4 batteries in parallel. The third and smallest system runs 720 watts of panel into a 60 amp Epever controller and two 100 ah lipo 4 batteries in parallel. Both the smaller systems run bigger loads from the inverters and can keep the batteries 90 gti 100% charged on sunny days. The Victron seems to get to bulk and struggles to ever get above 85% charge of the batteries even with full sun for most of the day. I don't think I have ever seen the batteries get t absorption. I did charge both the 300 ah batteries separate to full charge with my 40 amp charger and let them sit for a day where they showed 13.8 volts before I hooked them up to the Victron. I could be wrong, but I think the charge watts should be much higher with 1200 watts of panels. Could it be that my panels are defective? Possibly, and I should get around to testing their output, but I am betting they are OK. We will see. That's about all I can tell you right now. I don't know when I will build another small system, but I am sure it will be one using a Renogy controller and won't ha a Victron smart shunt on it like the problem system does.
Aloha, the beard weight is 19 oz., so I think I won the guess my weight question. Now, who gets the battery capacity Tester?
🤣🤙
Do you use a washing machine or window air conditioner with your solar?
Washing machine yes. No need for AC here. Aloha!🤙
