  • Think dark colors and bulky profiles when selecting lures to catch bass in muddy, dirty, or stained water. A bass’ sight is hindered in muddy water, so dark colored baits create a strong silhouette for the bass to hone in on. Bass are also equipped with a lateral line which works like an ear and detects vibrations resulting from water displacement, so soft plastics with strong kicking appendages get their attention. Here, TightLineTV breaks down his favorite way to catch bass in muddy water for you.

    For the people questioning my hook choice and hook up ratio, I specifically chose a 3/0 flipping hook over an EWG because in this situation it made sense for me. Using a flat profile bait like the bandito bug in HEAVY cover I wanted beefier hardware backing me up and the hook to be more hidden. Running an EWG through bushes and big logs it continuously pushed the hook through the bait and just got hung up.... At the end of the day everyone has bad days, it happens. Hope y’all enjoy the vid! Thanks for watchin 👊🏻

      Personally i think you cohldve used the snell knot over the palomar for the flipping hook. Drives the hook up into the roof of the fishs mouth. But then again. I dont fish for a living

      Tying a snell knot instead of a palomar on a straight shank hook helps kick the hook up for better penetration.

    Flipping hook def the way to go if you want to lose a lot of fish. Or if you want to land some use a snell knot, or go with a super line EWG hook

    Good video... but a couple things to improve on:
    1) tell people WHY going with dark VS light colors works better in muddy water. 2) he “likes” to separate appendages???... dude if you don’t you’re not getting the action it’s designed for. 3) says “don’t grab my line” ... but grabs his buddy’s line. ... anyway... still a fun vid , look forward to seeing more of Tight Lines TV

    I think the reason why he lost so many fishes was due to his rod. He's using a Daiwa Fuego rod n I held that rod in person n it's pretty flimsy even for a medium heavy. Basically, I think the rod didn't have enough power for those thick heavy wire flipping hooks.

    • @reedfessel7234
      @reedfessel7234 2 роки тому

      EXACTLY what I was thinking. Everyone saying hook. Nope to me rod was a limp noodle. Minimum medium heavy for flipping.

  • @andrewfultz7472
    @andrewfultz7472 4 роки тому

    The heavy wire is a lot harder to penetrate than a lighter wire. I know people say that light wire is weak but that's really not true, I've caught 5s and 7s and bunches of 3s and 4s on them and never ever had a problem.

    sorry man, I couldn't finish. IMHO a. tie a flipping hook with a snell knot to bring that hook point home. b. tie a flipping hook on when flipping c. use a round bend offset 3/0 worm hook on that bug and a sideways hook set you may have landed them all

      I’ve messed around with both straight shank and EWG. I prefer EWG due to it keeping the bait for longer, but straight shank is a little better for heavy cover. His problem was that he was using a Palomar knot instead of a shell knot. Smell knot on a straight shank hook is very effective because it causes the hookset to go straight into the roof of the fish’s mouth. That being said, EWG hooks are amazing and my go to
