Following this series of videos has been so epic. I legitimately think I'll marathon these even a few decades from now, these videos are a window into console history that's unrivaled when it comes to interesting and well-informed predictions and analysis. As far as I know, no other section of gaming media comes close.
I'm actually a huge fan of Forza. It kinda sucks because I've only got Forza 4 and Horizon 1 and 2 on 360 (because I can't afford an Xbox One yet). But when I finally do get one, Forza will be on the higher part of my list along with Rare Replay, Cuphead, and Super Lucky's Tale!
You know I LOVED Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 (I put hundreds of hours into it) but I agree 100% with them crapping out the series with the PS3 and PS4 games. Forza seems to be the better of the two nowadays (at least from what I've played of the Xbox One games). And I can't wait to play Forza Horizon 3 by the way!
Codemastersk if you compare the soundtrack and track list of Forza 7 against Forza 4, you will cry, I hated Forza 7's general feel. It felt more like a competitive e-sports game instead of a charming, well crafted masterpiece
Codemastersk don't get me wrong I like Forza 7 but it feels lifeless when compared to Forza 4, it had many concept cars and Super GT japanese race cars, also there are missing tracks in Forza 7 and most of them are iconic to Forza, also I liked Nurburgring's partial track selection like "section A" and "section C", it made up for very exciting sprint races and that will bring me to the next point. Why did they remove 1v1 races against A.Is where you had to race that A.I. and pass as many cars as possible? It was one of my favorite parts in career mode, the overall presentation of the game was better in Forza 4
I sort of disagree. Xbox One had better exclusives when it first came out (first 2 years) e.g. Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5 etc. Sony only really started having great and consistent first party content in mid-2015/May 2016 when Uncharted 4 released.
Cheese the Chao I feel the same way, but Xbox will need to fight a perception and stigma with great games. The negative perception and slight bias from there original blunder and negative policies.
Sadly the best exclusive value on the Xbox One is the Master Chief Collection- because each game is 1080p 60fps- but even then, it’s a remaster of 4 older games. That truly is a shame... Microsoft can, and SHOULD do better...
Sal Hunter the fact that he is just looking now means those exclusives are at least a couple years away sooooo xbox will have more games in 2019, maybe? By then the PS5 will be on the rise erasing the power narrative so what's the point in investing in Xbox now? Crackdown, State of Decay, Sea of Thieves enjoy
The best thing they can do is bring Halo and Halo 2 to the Original Xbox BC list. A lot of people were not happy with the Anniversary Edition of 2 that was included. Make the original available, include the map packs, and I think that a lot of Halo fans will be happy.
I think it was Steve Ballimer that said that Xbox exists to soften Microsoft's rigid corporate image. Without Xbox MS would be some faceless giant company (post Bill Gates) and that's not really what they want.
Believe me Adam, Microsoft has a long way to go until they even come close to becoming a Steam competitor. Everything they offer on PC is barely okay. To be honest they are not even really trying. The Windows Store is awful, convoluted with phone apps which made it to PC and with a horrible customer service. In addition the way their file system for the shop works is the worst: due to the fact that they encrypt their shop files on the PC (unlike GOG, Steam etc.) they are being decrypted during gameplay which results in a huge performance loss, in my case even plenty of crashes (I'm running an i7-4790, 16gb RAM and a GTX 1070 with an SSD). Forza Horizon 3 for example had this weird glitch where it didn't install correctly and now it can't be installed any longer, no matter what I try. Some other people have the issue as well but since the store has no customer service we are stuck with a game that can't be played (unless we reinstall Windows). Forza 7 crashed before I even got to the menu on two different machines. I'm note sure if I ever saw a sale on their platform which is also crucial for many PC players. So no, they are very far off from winning people over. Phantom Dust runs great though :-P
One thing you are forgetting Adam, is that as long as Sony has to have physical media due to Japanese considerations etc, Xbox will also be prevented from being digital only to be competitive. Otherwise there would be another fiasco similar to this generation's launch where Sony can go: "See Microsoft over there restricting you to digital........you can still do either with us." Btw, great video! I'm a subscriber and a fan. ^_^
Woodworking BS! both run almost every game at 30fps and most PS4 Pro games run at 1440p and most X1X games at 1800p. is there a difference? Yes! but not a big one!! Also there are more than 400 PS4 Exclusives so no there are WAY MORE games on the Pro and while the X is more powerful! games like Uncharted 4, The Last of Us 2, God of War 4, Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn ect still look better than everything on the X1X. Horizon Zero Dawn at 4K with HDR looks easly a Generation ahead of everything on the X1X l. And no i'm not a Sony/PS Fanboy.
Woodworking the fps are virtually identical on games thus far and the miniscule difference between 1800p and 1440p as standard 99% of gamers will never see.
I think that the reason why we got the pro and x was to prolong the generation. The 7th gen lasted almost 2 normal gens (8 years) Come 2020 or 2021, we will see the next gen. Think they are doing this to help wait until the 4K components they want to use are cheaper. Just a thought.
I won't be buying a 4k TV until my hd TV goes wrong. Also dvd sales still out sell blu-ray sales, so I can't see 4k taking off for a long time. The gap between normal hd and 4k is too small. There was a big difference between vhs and dvd, even the difference between dvd and blu-ray was slightly less noticeable in comparison. I feel Nintendo know this and have done so many things right with the Switch. Hybrid gaming is the best thing to happen to gaming since the breathtaking wonder of the N64. Also using game cards is the best solution for physical releases and fast loading times. The game cards will become cheaper to manufacture like blu-ray disc's/sd cards have over the years.
I wasn't that amazed that it's been 5 years since the launch of the Wii U, yet I'm shocked that it's been 4 years since the launch of the XBox One. Yet even more shocked that the Wii came out 11 years ago. It's creepy how fast time sometimes seems to fly when you're an adult and the memories of something long ago is so fresh.
It is also happening in Tv's. Samsung no longer licks TV processors in the box, but use a external box. As new features come out you replace the external box.
Playboi Cactus it’s still literally the exact same argument though. You can’t justify one without justifying the other. It’s not a good argument either way. The Xbox one didn’t have any games when it first came out. Developers were limited by how well the Xbox could perform until now. They can develop better games for a more powerful console now. The games will come.
clarissa35f it's true since theres barely any exclusives for the xbox one and tbh i sold mines since its been collecting dust. Its a shame that the xbox one can have better support but sadly as of now its not making any progress in terms of exclusive games and competition against the ps4 and switch (also wii u but lets face it it was a flop).
Playboi Cactus i wouldn't be surprised if sooner or later the switch will eventually have more exclusives than the xbox one (which has already been out for like 5 years already)
Also, 4k and HDR are not the only reasons for the X. You still get better image quality on regular 1080p TVs plus better frame rates all over the board. If you don't have a beefy PC, it's absolutely worth it. If you have a good PC, not so much, apart from the backwards compatibility and some of the old Xbone exclusives.
I really glad to see the Xbox one is doing as well as it is but the graphics snobs and the fanboys calling Xbox one x a 9th gen console is arrogant and stupid because the Xbox one x doesn’t have games made exclusively for the hardware (also because we can still use the same disc on any other Xbox one).
Hey Adam, your videos are awesome and entertaining to watch! I always look forward to when you put out new content. Have you gotten an Xbox One X yet and will you be doing an unboxing and eventually review video of it anytime soon? Thanks.
You nailed my PC gaming mentality. I don't care about backwards compatibility for Xbox one X as I have every Xbox/360 game I still want to play on my PC now. The PS4 sadly was the first disc based machine I've ever bought without backwards compatiblity but it's honestly used more for media as the limited HD space makes it for exclusive games only imo.
From a PC gamer's perspective, Microsoft selling the XBOX essentially as a Windows10 PC without the need for driver installations and stuff is the best thing that could happen. Because let's be honest, consoles all have pretty awesome exclusives, most of those will never come to PC for obvious reasons unless you have some emulators up and running. From a console gamer's perspective, I never had a reason to pick up the XBOX One nor will I ever have one. I'm a huge XBOX360 fan, even the gamepads are better, but the money I saved by not picking up this glossy black brick is better going to a low priced PS4 or the Switch that hopefully gets a massive price drop along with Mario Odyssey for Black Friday. The XBOX One is fine for those who prefer consoles over PCs and prefer Microsoft's titles over the others also. Otherwise it's... meh... a collector's piece.
I'm not a fan of Xbox, but if I wanted the Xbox One series, I would buy an Xbox One model because no matter which model you have, the console is backwards-compatible with original Xbox and Xbox 360 game discs. The PlayStation 4 models lack backwards-compatibility with PS1, PS2 and PS3 game discs. I can say the same thing about the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch lacks backwards-compatibility as well.
What still boggles my mind is that Microsoft thought the gamers want more powerful hardware from them (XOX) when in reality if you search almost any gaming forum people always wanted more games from them, console exclusives at least. M$ thought that another batch of Halos, Gears and Forzaz was going to cut it, but it obviously didn't, people were tired of them already by the end of 360 lifecycle. Hardware should've been the least of their concerns
I recently bought a 65" Sony 4K HDR tv and the Xbox One X, and man what a jump it was to suddenly play games in 4K on my new tv. The graphics on both Assassins Creed Origins and Forza 7 are stunning, this is more like next generation compared to a standard PS4 and Xbox One. I also have the PS4 Pro, and some games looks good on that system, but it's still way behind Microsoft on this one.
I work at a well known catalogue store near Manchester and nobody is interested in the Xbox X we've had one one person asking about it in 6 months, all the feedback I've heard is people are pissed because it's a mid season refresh of an ok system. Me personally think this gen is the most unimpressive of my 35 years of gaming and so much so my ps4 is basically my blu ray player atm, I play my Wii and megadrive more simply because it's nothing but remakes and remasters. I soooooo I bought a switch with a nice 20% discount and I'm freaaakkkkking loving it, no graphics rammed down your necks and no silly remastered upgraded new dlc bull shit. Gaming is about one crucial thing.... Fun and that's it. Keep up the good work as usual adam
I don't think Microsoft will become a Steam competitor simply because of the whole DRM policy controversy from 2013. It would be INSANE for Microsoft to only make software in my humble opinion.
It's funny how the DRM made us concerned that the console would be worthless come future yet that might happen if games don't become more exclusive like you said. Hopefully they get more exclusives so I have an excuse to pick one up
Its a testament to your talent that I am so riveted by listening to you yap for 20 or 30 minutes with minimal production effort. Do you write scripts, or are you riffing off bullet points? You rarely take a breath lol. Your passion shows! Also, is your left hand cold or something?
Yep. I have a gaming PC and once Forza was available on it, there was no point in owning an Xbox. I still can't see a legit reason for me to own one, since there's basically no games?
fcukugimmeausername good stuff man, I wanna build a gaming pc at some stage. The only reason I’m holding off is because none of my friends have pc and I have the most fun when I’m playing with my friends
I still play my Ps4 and 360. In fact, still have my Ps3 and DC hooked up (though rarely play them). PC gaming is great, but a mix of console + PC is best.
PC gamer here and my justification for getting a PS2/3 was Metal Gear Solid. Come MGS 5 it became cross platform and what a let down that was. Xbox One is a nice stop gap to keep me entertained. Over all I've had a nice experience with a Xbox One. Thanks to backwards compatibility I got introduced to Mass Effect, Borderlands, Gears of War and replayed Red Dead Redemption. Ah Red Dead Redemption 2 not on PC. Handy to have a console still 😉
@@PlastiGomi not games in general he probably owns a ps4 and if so why buy a xbox one when you have a ps4 exclusives give you a reason to choose one over the other 🍑🤡
+Adam Koralik If you went back in time before the X1 launch and were in charge of the naming, what are some ideas for names you would come up with? As for your point about pc gamers, you are spot on. I game almost exclusively on pc simply because I care among other things about and framerate and customising my experience. I don't see a point in sacrificing a severely gameplay impacting factor like frames and the fluidity to get a not even close to gameplay impacting factor like more pixels on screen. And with the current gen save for the X and Pro on some games, consoles are far behind my old rig on res already, and all of them are behind in frames. Now if consoles did 60 or more frames as the norm I'd still have issues with the restrictive and closed nature of the platform not to mention the attrocious game prices and paywalls. But it would atleast quell ALOT of the strife I have with consoles. But when I do break my pc gaming for console, it is like you said for the fantastic exclusives like the ones Sony or Nintendo offers. So I still am a potential customer for console makers albeit not one of their cash cow customers. But with the Xbox... even if xbox "exclusives" wern't on pc, I'd be hard pressed to buy a console for the very few that would actually peak my interest. The ones I have bought was simply for the fact that they were available on pc, and only Gears 4 I actually bought on the awful windows store. But (so far) I'd never buy the console for any of their games. That's the reality and all my pc gaming friends who also play consoles have a similar opinion.
On paper yes the Xbox One X looks light years ahead and if you tally up pixel counts etc. that said, doesn’t translate to real world tangible difference. I own both, and yes if my nose is up to the 4K TV (I have a 55” XBR) yes I can tell a difference 4-5ft away...from my sofa, where I actually sit and game from...I can barely tell a difference.
The facts you pointed out about Nintendo is exactly why I haven't supported them since the SNES, they just simply don't cater to western audiences anymore.
It's a shame that Don ruined everything synonymous with the Xbox brand, it always was related to being the most powerful console on the market and/or the best console for multiplatform games. From Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Burnout 3 to Bayonetta and Red Dead Redemption plus many others and its exclusives, absolutely made it worth owning an Xbox and/or 360 during their primes. At least the X brings things back to normal once again, but the damage has already been done.
I'm aware that there are nearly zero exclusives for the Xbox One but I still bought the X because it is the most powerful piece of gaming hardware you can get for 500 bucks. A gaming pc with similar capabilities costs much more.
I'm aware that my situation is not typical but I'm a pc gamer, with a decent if somewhat aging rig (i7 3770k, 16 gig of ram and a gtx 970), I've been using steam for 13 years and have over 800 games on that platform alone. And yet, I still choose to get some games on console, even the ones that are also available on pc. There's just something about consoles that appeals to me and I honestly couldn't tell you what. It may just be that I grew up with consoles, it's where I first experiences gaming, I don't know. There's rarely a game that looks and runs better on consoles, but there's a lot of games that are more enjoyable on consoles in my opinion. I chose the xbox simply because I prefer the xbox ecosystem over the playstation's. I'm not gonna lie, having the vast majority of my digital games, movies, series etc carry over from my 360 to my xbone was also a huge deciding factor, obviously. And now, with what Microsoft has been doing with their play anywhere feature, as a gamer who also owns a capable pc, I found myself getting my gaming content from them more and more. It's just a real shame that it only works with digital content since I much prefer physical media. And before anyone gets their pitchfork out, this isn't me bashing the playstation at all. I own the previous 3 and will get the PS4 too eventually. I really want to play Bloodborne and the Last of Us remastered and the upcoming one lol
This generation overall feels..... Lackluster. There really isn't anything new or impressive that the consoles have to offer visually, the games don't feel that different from the last gen and it just lacks a vibe and feel. It feels forgetable because really, there isn't much new to offer. And this gen does have a lot of issues. For example, they needed more powerful hardware. (PS4 Pro and the X1X.)
As Pooped By Anakin Skywalker Yeah. If they care that much about graphics then why didn't they make the PS4 and Xbox One a powerful system? Gameplay over Graphics, all day. Like i said, i think this generation is forgetable. I just go back to the 6th gen and before, since that was the last generation that all had a good chunk of differences.
Oh my gosh! Thank you! I'm not alone with this opinion anymore! Wii/PS3/360 all were amazing. WiiU is a great underdog, the Switch is going on but both PS4 and One are so... boring with barely featuring anything new, so just no real reason to pick those up.
I have noticed this week at my various trips to Walmart and Target. have seen customers buying 4K TVs. This might be the year will people will embrace ultra high definition TVs and consoles. I would also like to see maybe a Bundle Xbox One X w/Assasins Creed Origins, or even Cuphead and possibly Red Dead Redemption 2 next spring.
What games would they use to drive a digital service as a competitor to Steam and be successful? Maybe drive forward a Steam type of environment for the Console crowd? Most PC gamers hate the Windows store and other non Steam delivery clients.
I'm wondering if their next console will actually just be a gaming PC of sorts. Adding full mouse and keyboard compatibility to the Xbox One X (coming this year supposedly) seems like a transition move towards this goal; if they made more windows 10 functions available on the console would help too (why get a desktop when you can get an Xbox that is both a console and a pc?). It might actually be the closest they get to the whole "all in one" concept they started out with, and have people used to the idea for their next gen console.
I don't think the XBox will go away. It will be what the Steambox wanted to be. It probably will have something like the windows 10S version with a nice overlay so you can use it with a controller. Probably will be called Surfacebox or something.
It might be due to licensing issues, but I don't see why they couldn't create a emulator that read and executed code from the original disk considering the architecture of the original Xbox is x86 (I understand why they had to do this for the 360, which used PowerPC), seems like that'd be more efficient than having the games rebuilt specifically for the Xbox One.
I personally say the only 4k tv worth buying right now is the LG 55in OLED at best buy and it's still $1,500, but it's the best value for that kind of tv. Everything else besides Samsung's QLED tech seems like older tech with higher res.
I'm really impressed with Xbox's turn around; they've gone back to their "roots" so to speak, with an awesome piece of tech. They just need more, higher quality exclusives and IPs, which take time, so hopefully we see some in the next couple of years. I'm a massive Halo fan, but it just isn't the console seller it used to be. Only reason I buy my 3rd party games for Xbox is that I'm attached to the Live ecosystem/gamerscore and prefer the controller etc etc. PS4 is just an exclusive machine. I'm waiting to get an X when 4k HDR monitors become more mainstream, and when there's some limited edition bundle. Edit: Just finished watching - agree with most of what you said, but wanted to add that, I remember reading that Bill Gates was a proponent for Xbox as it essentially was another vehicle for his dream of a Windows(ish) based computer in every home.
Problem is, there's a trojan horse with the Xbox One that few (if any) persons talked about at launch, and that's the Xbox Live Enforcement system. Through "hurt feeling" reports it allows anyone to get banned for anything. By banning people that violate their TOS in the broadest possible interpretation they may be able to make a little more money than they normally would, as you can't actually dispute any bans or suspensions in 99.9% of cases. I love all your videos. I hope one day you can discuss this plague on gaming.
The PS3 had a lot of system sellers. God of War 3 is one that stands out. Also, there are almost too many great PS3 exclusives to name. Some that come to mind are Uncharted series, Resistance series, Demons Souls, The Puppeteer, are some that come to mind.
A few things... I think it's sad that people keep forgetting that games like Halo Wars 2 came out this year. Also Shuhei doesn't run Playstation he is the head of their worldwide studios. Also why does everyone keep forgetting that majority of pc gamers play on windows which is Microsoft main OS/ Development ecosystem. If I'm Microsoft and I make games why would I distinguish the 2 segments? Just because they make a console doesn't mean it has to be a separate "ecosystem" from the PC, when the difference between the 2 really aren't all that large from a core tech perspective. This generation and past.
Also as a major technology and entertainment company like Microsoft to not have a dedicated gaming division would be foolish on their part and is a big reason they will never shut Xbox down. Theres an intellectual benefit to staying in and being one of the forefronts of the industry. Certain tech, and psychology R&D would be lost. Not to mention its a good look for a company to make games, gives some personality to a corporation.
this was a really good video. at first i was like "no shut up xbox has no games and it sucks!" but then i basically went on to agree with everything you said towards the end so it all worked out... :D
Hey love your channel! Just wanted to ask do you have to rehearse your videos, or make notes? Or do you just say what comes in your head. Either way its good, no way I could do it....
One thing he seems to have missed is like switching companies people don’t do it very often like the only people who would do it are game enthusiasts, collectors and newbies and 17:03 pretty much sums it up for me the expectation anyone will go out and buy an Xbox just cos it’s an Xbox is pretty dumb there’s no reason to get it if you have a pc.
The reason why Microsoft is still holding onto the Xbox program is probably why they started it in the first place: So Sony doesn't have a monopoly on, and control, the home entertainment market.
2018 will be, in my opinion, the year of the PS4: they'll just pushed so many games for next year, that despite One X is technically superior, people will probably choose the weaker console for the content. The XBOX has Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and maybe a new Forza game, probably Horizon 4. Even Nintendo went all out this year and they don't really have that much stuff scheduled for 2018.
I love your re-visit videos about the consoles! The huge change the one has gone though was MOSTLY thanks to all the shit storm the community got out. THANKS to all of you. The one now is a very nice option. Of course Spencer also had a lot to do with this. Lets try this one on EAs latest bs! :D
I would say that the Xbox One (X) is the ideal living room box for a PC gamer. Not saying they'll all be interested in one, but they may well want to play their library using an Xbox to avoid any PC faff when they're with their families.
Ouch! -6Million dollars. Yeah, I feel like X-Box are trying to pull out of the console market. I've had some good times with them, but it's cool if they drop out. We'll see what happens.
Your right about the exclusive part apart from halo. as far as im aware theres no way to play the full version of halo 5 guardians on pc at this point in time.
Hey Adam, I hate to break it to you, but the Cuphead (and from what I read PUBG) retail release is just going to be a retail box with a code card inside, much like what Was done with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, and the final PSVita version of MLB The Show a few years ago.
It's two different releases. The first Cuphead "physical" edition is not what I was talking about. Supposedly a disc based release is still to come. Incidentally, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris got a disc based physical edition in Europe. I have that.
I personally think the Xbox One S will outsell the X because it's over half the price and 80% of console gamers don't give a shit about specs or performance.
I bought the XboxOneS in the Summer of 2017 at Walmart. It was the most offordable way for 4k content at least $200.00 than the cheapest 4k blue player and cheaper than the Pro. I'm fed up with exclusives. I want to be able to buy a gaming console or pc and play any game I want.
I purchased a OG Xbone on black friday 2016 just so I can have my racing fix. Forza and Halo have been my go-to game thus far. Yes, I have a ps4 and I do not support EA... No NFS. At the time, GT was still in dev. To be quiet honest this whole generation has been lacking terribly. I've already considered selling the PS4 and Xbone... Kinda sad where gaming is going. Just my opinion...
I don’t see the XBOX ONE as a good collecting console due to the fact that the default settings have the DRM, so if support is dropped, you’re walking on ice.
Despite the fact that the division is not profitable, you cannot ignore the fact that the Xbox division gets quite a bit of revenue from Xbox live subscriptions. If you take away the console, we already know for a fact that PC owners are definitely not going to pay for that subscription - they never have. That would sure be a lot of revenue that Microsoft would miss.
XBO is MS's 3rd console and there has been a long standing trend (known as the 3rd console curse) that a platform holder's 3rd console does not sell (or be as popular) as their previous ones. It has effected Atari, SEGA, Nintendo, Sony and now... MS. Should they decide to make a 4th, then the trend reflects better popularity than that of the 3rd.
I got both ps4 pro and One X in Black Friday Sales. Halo 3 and 5 look absolutely stunning. Currently I'd have to give the edge to how the Sony exclusives look though. Uncharted 4 looks a lot better, as do Horizon Zero Dawn, Wipeout and Gran Turismo. Think thats due to art direction and way games use HDR. Waiting for patches of Witcher 3 and Forza Horizon 3 on One X before testing them
to think that presentation would still influence the market four years later. what a shitty decision that was.
Yep.
You might say they diskinected it
David Robitaille
Badum-Tsssss!!!
You win.
Booooo😆
Following this series of videos has been so epic. I legitimately think I'll marathon these even a few decades from now, these videos are a window into console history that's unrivaled when it comes to interesting and well-informed predictions and analysis. As far as I know, no other section of gaming media comes close.
The original Xbox was my first ever console when I was 8yrs old, if they stop doing consoled I will cry :'(
Larry Rudedude no it won't be the last one, as long as home video game consoles are a thing then generations won't stop
Same here I have the original microsoft xbox original microsoft xbox 360 and the original xbox one

Rare Replay is a better deal than Master Chief Collection if you disregard the fact that some of the games can be emulated
The real question is "how?". Imo ms dont know what to do, they put games yeah but its more like the public is critic and dont like anything.
Professor Who Phil Spencer came out and said that Microsoft is looking to invest in more new exlusives and gaming studios
Make the original available, include the map packs, and I think that a lot of Halo fans will be happy.
heh "Xbox one X"
Microsoft's naming conventions have come full 360...
Heyooooo.
When you buy a new Xbox One X, it comes in an Xbox One X Box.
The next x box is gonna be called x box x3
I think it was Steve Ballimer that said that Xbox exists to soften Microsoft's rigid corporate image.
Without Xbox MS would be some faceless giant company (post Bill Gates) and that's not really what they want.
Yeah, that's basically exactly my theory.
This is becoming a yearly tradition for me. Thank you Mr. Koralik.
Thanks for watching brah. Think you're going to TooManyGames again?
I thought for sure you would have acquired an Xbox One X upon release. I've heard that it performs better visually even without using a 4k tv.
It does, but I have no reason to yet, as explained in the video.
I play it half in 1080p most of the time unless I move it to my living room, still day and night
Got my attention with your console generation vids and I've stayed nice content!
Thanks!
Really happy with my Scorpio and 4k monitor
CEWIIH its not just resolution its also textures which is a big difference
Nerdy Fello They are almost identical on both! Compare the X to a Maxed Out PC and then you will see a Big Difference.
Woodworking Buddy how old are you to call me a "Bit.."? And like i said i'm not a Sony Fanboy because i game on a PC.
I think that the reason why we got the pro and x was to prolong the generation. The 7th gen lasted almost 2 normal gens (8 years) Come 2020 or 2021, we will see the next gen. Think they are doing this to help wait until the 4K components they want to use are cheaper. Just a thought.
As usual, a very thoughtful and considered essay. Well done, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I really enjoy your content
Thanks!
I really like that you don't have some long, goofy intro and constant editing like other content creators.
It is also happening in Tv's. Samsung no longer licks TV processors in the box, but use a external box. As new features come out you replace the external box.
I really love the backwards compatibility. I've been playing dark souls lately with my save on both xbox one and 360. I find that pretty darn cool.
The original vision for the xbox one was an absolute disaster !
Tons of money, no sense.
@@Captain_Neckbeard I wonder how the series x will turn out
Still no Sunset Overdrive on PC! ;)
Ha, shit, is that true?
Woodworking Halo 5 Forge is on PC.
Cylonic Rage Yeah but the Campaign was bad compared to Halo 1/2/3 and you can still play Halo 5
Lmao! That's the game to get the Xbox One for, not.
Lakster37 I do enjoy that game
Xbox one issues are 3 fold:
Issue 1 no new games
Issue 2 no new games
Issue 3 no new games
Argument doesn’t hold up as Nintendo Switch is selling a ton and it’s content is made up of rehashing Wii U games
nintendo is more popular, of course its selling more. plus its had better exclusives than xbox 1 and nobody really owned a wii U
Thanks.
Thanks. Like I said in the video, I don't have one yet. I will do the video whenever that happens.
Adam Koralik Cool cool, I commented before I watched the video so I spoke too soon, lookin' forward to your next one!
I hope they never go all digital, or sans console. I like consoles and their ease of use.
Me too, but...digital is inevitable. :/
I made the jump to a 4K tv & the X! New generation for sure!
Thanks!
I pretty much just sit down and talk.
Nah, bad habit, I tend to play with my hands a lot.
The only console I've ever sold.
fcukugimmeausername same and I'm never the type to sell consoles.
Same here. Bought a PS4 instead and never looked back
PC gamer here and my justification for getting a PS2/3 was Metal Gear Solid. Handy to have a console still 😉
Wow I was not planning to watch the entire video, man you are on point. Great video
+Patrick Dhlamini Thanks for watching!
Hi Adam, I watch almost every video of you, there always very good and you look like a very down to earth guy. Thanks for the good videos!
Thanks for watching!
I will Buy a Xbox one X when Microsoft makes better exclusive games.
elisha davis was sorry bud
"I can only enjoy video games if its locked to a system"
its a wonder why people hate console gamers
Didn't Microsoft recently say that now that the X is out, they were going to focus more on software?
Here's hoping.
Go buy a 4k tv
tedo fuentes We already have one.
The fact that PS and Xbox are becoming more PC like also makes them boring for me, though exclusives on PS are interesting
I would love a Gears of War 2: Ultimate Edition for 2018
I have noticed this week at my various trips to Walmart and Target. have seen customers buying 4K TVs.
Now we have to wait a little more than 3 months until the next birthday video. Hooray...?
I don't think the XBox will go away. It will be what the Steambox wanted to be. It probably will have something like the windows 10S version with a nice overlay so you can use it with a controller. Probably will be called Surfacebox or something.
its already as low as 80bucks in alot of ads if it patches & has all the xbox OG games playable it will rocket up in collectivebity
You forgot about the Supergrafx which was a mid cycle upgrade to the Turbografx. Also, the DSi vs regular DS. :).
Well, that were just revisions with extra features. They're pretty different.
I'm happy that I have an Xbox one s and I'm sticking with it.
I personally say the only 4k tv worth buying right now is the LG 55in OLED at best buy and it's still $1,500, but it's the best value for that kind of tv. Everything else besides Samsung's QLED tech seems like older tech with higher res.
Hey Adam, have you played Ori and the Blind Forest, if so what're your thoughts? I think it's one of the best games on the Xbox One.
Just out of curiosity, what would be your hardware of choice from this current generation if every game was on anything?
Is the ps3 the winner of the 7th gen? I think in 2013 the 360 was ahead but as of now the ps3 has sold more.
PS3 came in second. Trust me, I was stunned too. Wii ultimately won.
Oh yeah, already forgot the wii was a thing that happened. Such a gimmicky piece of garbage that tricked everyone into buying it including myself.
once you notice the sleeve tuggin' its all you focus on. every video with a hoodie has this.
You can tell by my hands gestures I tend to play with my hands and arms a lot, bad habit.
Hey love your channel! Just wanted to ask do you have to rehearse your videos, or make notes? Or do you just say what comes in your head. Either way its good, no way I could do it....
I basically just sit down and talk.
The reason why Microsoft is still holding onto the Xbox program is probably why they started it in the first place: So Sony doesn't have a monopoly on, and control, the home entertainment market.
amazing views. such wise words. love the videos man.
Thanks!
Xbox One X sales plummeted after about a week. Unless they can start pumping out first party games like mad they’re basically done.
I love your re-visit videos about the consoles! The huge change the one has gone though was MOSTLY thanks to all the shit storm the community got out. THANKS to all of you. The one now is a very nice option. Of course Spencer also had a lot to do with this. Lets try this one on EAs latest bs! :D
Jeez it must be so hard to only make videos on anniversaries of things, you should really make other content in between, that would be cool
It might be cool if you looked at the other content in between?
I would say that the Xbox One (X) is the ideal living room box for a PC gamer.
Not saying they'll all be interested in one, but they may well want to play their library using an Xbox to avoid any PC faff when they're with their families.
Ouch! -6Million dollars. Yeah, I feel like X-Box are trying to pull out of the console market. I've had some good times with them, but it's cool if they drop out. We'll see what happens.
Your right about the exclusive part apart from halo. as far as im aware theres no way to play the full version of halo 5 guardians on pc at this point in time.
This video was great Adam; it educated me on so much
Thanks for watching!
You're awesome
Hey Adam, I hate to break it to you, but the Cuphead (and from what I read PUBG) retail release is just going to be a retail box with a code card inside, much like what Was done with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, and the final PSVita version of MLB The Show a few years ago.
It's two different releases.
The first Cuphead "physical" edition is not what I was talking about. Supposedly a disc based release is still to come.
Incidentally, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris got a disc based physical edition in Europe. I have that.
Adam Koralik Doh! Good to know. I was so happy to see screenshots of the box, only to see the “download code inside” on the packaging. 😑
I hope you’re wrong about Microsoft pulling out. Even though their products don’t light the world on fire, they make a lot of people happy.
Another awesome video Adam.
Thanks.
I'm actually considering getting one now
I personally think the Xbox One S will outsell the X because it's over half the price and 80% of console gamers don't give a shit about specs or performance.
Brilliant video cheers Adam
Thanks for watching!
You inspired me to make my own video like this... love the content
Send me a link!
Adam Koralik ua-cam.com/video/cn6swnU-4hU/v-deo.html Yours is alot better but yeah haha
That's exactly where I am. PC and a Wii U. You can't justify Sony or Microsoft.
That's only in the launch models. The S' X's and later older models have newer firmware built in.
love the hoodie! thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
I love my nintendo switch
Gonna buy a xbox one and forza 7 tommorow
MS. Should they decide to make a 4th, then the trend reflects better popularity than that of the 3rd.
darthv72 that’s deep
I got both ps4 pro and One X in Black Friday Sales. Halo 3 and 5 look absolutely stunning. Currently I'd have to give the edge to how the Sony exclusives look though. Uncharted 4 looks a lot better, as do Horizon Zero Dawn, Wipeout and Gran Turismo. Think thats due to art direction and way games use HDR. Waiting for patches of Witcher 3 and Forza Horizon 3 on One X before testing them
Did PS3 finish 2nd place? Who did they beat? Wii? The 360?
Wii, PS3, 360. In that order.
