There's a special type of polymer granules you can put in the pond to fix the leaks. It'll actually get sucked into the cracks and expand. BamaBass used it to fix the leaks in their clay blanket, as well. I'm sure if you contact them they'll gladly share what they used exactly, and where to get it.

Not sure which type of polymer BamaBass used but some of the polymers require two different applications. My brother and I had luck with a product called Damit (aka Shalex) which was single application.

Hey Jon, love your videos. There is a channel called Bama bass and he did a 5 acre pond build. He had a leak and put this stuff in the water that sealed it. Definitely worth giving his channel a glance just for the amount of information he has on the process of the pond builds!

A study on crappies by a Mississippi university stated that crappie in ponds under two acres can disrupt the food chain for bass and bluegill. They observed crappie spawning first before any other species. Second, crappies take food from all other fishes at different growth stages.

Hi Jon, so I’m from South Africa and we stocked some dams with tilapia in our area that used to have leaks as well and we found out that the manure from the tilapia helps to seal the dam due to it being so fine. But we stocked almost 200 tilapia in a dam the same size as yours but we left them for almost an entire year

Little tip/idea, for your water level ruler, you can tie on anything that floats to it so you have a more obvious check on water level. Just a bobber with a line connected around the ruler works perfect. Just make sure to have a top that it can't go past in case it flows over! Love the pond vids Jon, always a pleasure!

When your pond is still full you can still make it bigger and deeper that way when the Sumer heat comes by they have some place to go when it get to hot. The bigger/deeper the better that way you can have more and add more fish. Air curation and aeration is also key.

I’m order to build a productive echo system you must start from the bottom up. Sure you could combine some of the steps to speed up the process but here’s one thing for sure, before you add any sort of bass, you need to establish bait. And that takes longer than a week. My advice would be, wait the year, let the bait do its thing, breed etc. then next year place your order for the tiger bass.

I wouldn’t add F1 bass, pure strain Florida are a better bet for growing giants down the road unless you restock fresh F1s every 3 years or so. Otherwise you get outbreeding depression from continued crosses of F1 bass and they won’t get big. You can research that on different forums. My recommendation would be to reach out to Overton’s fisheries in Texas. They have F1s available but they also have pure Florida strain bass that are offspring from Camelot bell which is known for fish over 15 lbs. they also have bluegill and stuff. You also want to seriously bulk your forage base, 10 lbs of shiners is nowhere near enough. For growing true trophy bass I’ve heard you want a bluegill to bass ratio of 30:1, that’s 30 bluegill per 1 bass. Ten pounds of forage equals 1 pound of weight for a bass so consider the long game here instead of throwing big bass in there before you have an established forage base. Also lots of structure and habitat will be a huge difference maker in how sustainable your forage and trophy bass population will be, so add lay downs and all sorts of stuff to make cover for baitfish and ambush points for bass. All in all just my two cents
