🔹Don’t forget to address your rib cage and thoracic spine mobility!
👉🏻The rib cage and diaphragm are sometimes referred to as the roof of the core and the pelvic floor as the basement.
🏠What happens up in the roof has a big impact on the basement and the pressure inside the entire core house.
🔹The ribs are attached to the thoracic spine. When ribs get sticky the thoracic spine can also get sticky. Ribs and Tspines need to be able to move for the diaphragm to move well and for a balance of pressure throughout the core.
👇🏻Try these moves to mobilize your rib cage and thoracic spine and make space for the diaphragm to move more optimally:
🔸Blanket rolling: Work your way from the armpit down until you run out of ribs. Roll back and forth slowly and pause and breathe into any tight or restricted areas.
🔸Thoracic CARs: Hug a pillow to help you isolate the rib cage and flex, twist, laterally flex, and extend your Tspine and ribs making a big circle in each direction. Try not to let your pelvis and legs move.
🔸Lunges with rotation: Add rotation to your lunges. Keep your head stacked over the rib cage and pelvis as you rotate toward and away from your front leg. Now move it up and down dynamically with your breath. Inhale on the way down twisting toward the leg and exhale on the way up.
