Great to see Chief constantly innovating. These are not world-shaking, but if they touch an area you care about, they can be huge.
Although not for me, at least not yet, I have to say I'm always impressed by Chief Architects version updates, from what I see presented every year, the new features always seem to be worth upgrading from the last👍💪
Great improvement! I look forward to seeing container house design / Tiny home / House on wheel in X17.
Would love to see improvements in terrain some day. Using a topo with a house plan and 3D is just too much for the average bear.

Lots of nice new little updates but I don’t know if it really deserves a version number. Seems like 15.1 would’ve been a more appropriate since there’s nothing really game changing happening.
I think what we’re all ready for is a whole new platform as this late 90s style UI it’s just so so tired
And a rebranding to go with it. We got versions one through nine and then it stopped at Roman numeral X and now inversion Roman numeral X 16
I’m OK with that. Photoshop is still Photoshop. They don’t feel the need to put version numbers in front of it anymore.
But where we really need to see is a modern interface, new imagery, rethinking of what’s efficient like a timeline at the bottom of the screen instead of a separate window that eats up a third of your Real Estate like Adobe fusion, definitely a dark mode because my eyes boil after a day of using the software
And then it’s time to modernize the tools and how the software works. It’s very clunky still and certain things like creating a very modern floating staircase in the shape of a U should take minutes and it’s a good step to be able to save those, but it would be a better step to just efficiently plop in a floating staircase
It also be nice to have some modern features which are actually becoming more common such as flush baseboards and flat ceilings and better ways to deal with the trim around flat ceilings, much better ways to deal with the land and terrain because the current system is absolutely bizarre
In other words, it’s time to completely rebuild the software from the ground up and stop patching and patching and patching to the point where it’s now 22 years worth of bloat.

Can someone tell me how to fix the excel imports? Worked perfectly in x15 but now all of mine in x16 are messed up.

I find Chief Architect interesting. But my constant question about this software is whether I can design an entire house with cement walls. Like it's been done in most European countries. Because you only showcase wooden frames houses, like in the video above.
The software has flexibility to do concrete designs but you will have to do a lot of setup work, I have tried using it for concrete construction and found that it specialize in American home construction, thats why they alway show wooden framed designs. It does not have as extensive details for concrete a steel as it does for wooden structures, it can do light commercial projects as well but over all it seems to be focused on American residential design
I live in Florida and we primarily do CMU block homes. The software works great for us. Easy to use and setup.

Thank you for the detailed reply. May I ask your opinion, since you use the software. Would you recommend it for designs with concrete walls? Or is it to complicate to do the set ups?

@@despoina.markaki. Yes. You can fully customize the walls. They even have block and ICF walls setup in the standard template I think. It's a great program and has the lowest learning curve to produce plans quickly once you get the hang of it. I recommend downloading a free trial and checking out their free online training videos.
