Lol. I played with tap jump on since the first day I played smash and it gives you so many more options and applications vs not having it on. The only changes I made over the years was having a shoulder jump button and tilt stick. Manually doing smash attacks is pretty easy, the game was designed with people doing it manually anyway.
I find it funny how people struggle so much with accidentaly jumping with tap jump that they turned it off, excluding themselves from more options because they can't press buttons slower.
I know right. Some Bayonetta mains out there for example have to set a complexe keybind for their controller for Up B cancel into another Up B when it's just simply as doable with ONLY stick jump on.
How do you do it without throwing out a special move? Because if you begin to hold down the special button you throw out a laggy special move just to set it up.
Another question that I can't find the answer to, is the up air possible to do with limit on? I can't seem to hit the falling up air when limit is active.
ive come to the conclusion that people who complain about mashing in this game won't do better than be decent at the game, cant deal with mashers? say goodbye to consistent results cause there's always that 1 terry main in the region.

Has anyone applied this to other characters? I've been trying to find uses for characters like Pyra, ZSS, Banjo.. I don't have the brain to think of scenarios. I've found that IDJ using tap jump can be pretty helpful to have consistent low fairs and bairs, but at the cost of a double jump🫠

wait is there an error in ultimateframedata or did i miss something it say cloud's fh is 49 frame, but bair is frame 11 & has 42 total frame, so it should add up to 52 which is more than 49, so the hitbox shouldn't come out same thing for up air, it is frame 8 & 44 total frame
It does not add up to 52. Bair is 42 total frames and that already includes the 11 frame start up. 2 bairs should take 53 frames then to come out. Which is still more than 49. Thing is, aerials can affect a character's gravity. Also, hurtbox shifting might play a factor too. I tested and Cloud does take longer to land when performing a buffered f4 full hop bair.
I know I might be a lost cause because I'm not that hard on Smash but can someone tell me what is "f4" full hop, bair's "FAF" and "AC" dair? I don't really find results on Google... The only acronym I know with AC is Advent Children from the FF7 movie 💀... Btw thank you for that video!
This video is a bit more advanced in terms of tech, so I took some liberties to shorten some of the terms used, but I'll help you out. F4 is frame 4. Full hop aerials in this game always start on frame 5 and this tech allows them to start a frame earlier. FAF is first actionable frame. Is the frame right after a move where you can do another action, so if do a bair and that move takes 42 frames to complete, your first actionable frame or FAF would be 43. AC stands for auto cancel. Tho advent children is sick 😂. Auto cancel is landing with a move on a specific frame usually at the end of the move so that you land with no lag.
You can hold special while holding shield or to do a pummel with special then hold it. Some special moves you can hold special after doing the special move
You can cancel a slingshot with an upsmash in this game. 3:22 you can see the beginning of my slingshot be cancel by an upsmash. This is faster than reverse upsmash as this can be done out of an initial dash, you also slide more.

Oop, nevermind, I saw you held shield and the pressed the special button, which stopped you from doing a special.
Just charge limit with down b, then cancel it with the shoulder button

Yes this is a bug that only happens with tap jump. Probably an oversight by the devs. Regular jump does not work.

Hold a special button that can be set to any button. The default is B button but a shoulder special button is recommended
