God is sovereign over good and evil! Good to remember this in these crazy times we live in. Nothing is wasted or random with Him. Lord, help me to remember this when I get worked up over the evil in this world - YOU hear our cries, YOU will deal with the evil and the wicked.
"Nothing is random where God is concerned, He is so intentional, He hears the cries of the righteous, He wipes out the wicked, and He can't be stopped ..." Thank you TLC
“Mark my words!” (1 Kings 22:28) This is the first time in the Bible so far that we see this phrase, and it shows a contrast between Micaiah and Jehoshaphat, in the way that they follow the Lord. Micaiah has to confront 400 evil prophets, a king who will imprison him, and another prophet who assaults him. Yet, he will he “will only say what the Lord tells him to say” (1 Kings 22:14). Jehoshaphat, on the other hand, has his son marry Ahab’s daughter (2 Chron 18:1); he immediately agrees to go into battle with Ahab, but then catches himself on second thought after committing to do so and says, “Let’s ask the Lord” (2 Chron 18:4); and even agrees to the plan to be a decoy for Ahab in battle (2 Chron 18:29). God, however, overcomes Jehoshaphat’s poor judgment and guides a random arrow to kill Ahab and fulfill His word (1 Kings 22:38). We’ll see the result of Jehoshaphat’s mixed adherence to God’s word (whose son is evil, influenced by Ahab and Jezebel’s daughter). God is looking for men and women who have the courage to stand on His words and say, “Mark my words! God is the Lord, and I trust in Him completely.”
God is over ALL! Evil spirits answer to God as well as good spirits. God allows both to move only in accordance to His ultimate purpose and Will. We need to remember Our Heavenly Father is Supreme, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Divine, Full of Grace, Glory and Love!!!
God is sovereign over ALL things and by His authority will use whatever He will to accomplish His plan! Nothing is arbitrary when it comes to God🙌🏽 Father God, by the power of Your Spirit help us to trust You and Your sovereignty over all things when we can’t see the big picture. I'm glad TLC spoke extensively about the part that struck me the most. God saving Jehoshaphat after he cried out and God fulfilling His word even though it was recorded that Ahab was hit at random. The end point as TLC said is that God hears the cries of His people and He destroys the wicked. God sure has all ways to brings His words to fulfillment.
God is faithful to keep His promises. Whether it's blessings or fulfilling righteous judgement, He will follow through. Nothing is random. He is intrntional and everything has purpose. Praise Him!
Today we finish the 16th book of the Bible. We see the Northern and Southern kings form an alliance to go into battle against Syria. King Ahab is accidentally killed even though he is disguised. It was not a random arrow or error that killed him. It was the word of judgement that God had spoken coming to pass. Everything that God says will happen will always come true. We can’t look at our time clock. God accomplishes all things in His perfect timing.
I’m impressed that Jehoshaphat decided to seek the counsel of one more “Godly” prophet. He had already received the “counsel” of 400 so called prophets. I pray for that level of discernment. It’s too easy in our culture to trust the experts, the expert physicians, the expert psychologist, the expert scientist, especially if 400 to 1 are in agreement. But scripture confirms what Jehoshaphat already knew. “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked…” Psalms 1:1 “The thoughts of the righteous are just, But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.” Proverbs 12:5
After Jehoshaphat attains great wealth and reputation, he conspired to support Ahab and has his son marry Ahab’s daughter, who becomes the evil, murderous Queen Athalia. God wants me to stay close to Him, because there are great consequences when we think better of our own plans.
"For three years Syria and Israel continued without war" (1 Kings 22:1 ESV). So, there was peace between them. Yet, Ahab wanted to go to war over a piece of land. Jehoshaphat is involved because of the marriage alliance he made with Ahab (2 Chrome 18: 1). Jehoshaphat used wisdom in asking to seek God before proceeding. There were 400 prophets saying to go to war. But, there was 1 who told the truth about what would happen (Micaiah). Despite this, Ahab still goes to war, and Jeroboam joins him. Even though Ahab tried to disguise himself, Micaiah told the truth. Ahab died just as the Lord said. Lesson: God's word is true. We can try to go ahead in our own ways, but there's no thwarting what God says will happen. It didn't occur to me that those 400 prophets were the ones that didn't come to the confrontation with Elijah. And, the angels inciting those prophets to speak deception was God's doing. Wow! God is in control of everything!
I'm so thankful to be able to follow what's happening and see them all as real people. And again, how God uses any means to meet His goals - here to end Ahab. He doesn't even say his name. It's the king of Israel and King Jehoshaphat. Ahab is so despised by God. I love knowing that nothing is random. God is working to His glory and the good of the righteous.
Kinda struggling today with so many people I know and love getting cancer and dying very quickly, also working with the abused I see such evil. When will God step up and fix this please God hear my prayers.
I know what you mean. When God allows unrepentant people to be given over to their sin, innocent bystanders- often children - get caught in their sin. It is heartbreaking and difficult to contend with. But I know that I know that I know that I know that God is good and he has a plan and with ultimately wipe away all tears. I don't know when, and I don't understand how, but I trust that he will make it all right; that it will make sense; and it will all have a purpose and a place in his plan. HE is God. HE is sovereign. And I'm so thankful He is working for our good.
@@handsfullofgoodthings ty so much I really appreciate your words. I don’t doubt him but there is just some days that are so hard. I don’t want to see harm to anyone but I won’t lie people that hurt innocent children and the elderly truly bother me.
Wow. Beautiful God Shot. God is intentional! He’s precise, too. He protested Jehoshaphat in the frenzy of battle. He directed one arrow precisely to kill evil Ahab. Wow!
But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.” Then Micaiah answered, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’ ” Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left. And the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’ “One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “ ‘By what means?’ the Lord asked. “ ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said. “ ‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord. ‘Go and do it.’ “So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.” All day long the battle raged, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died. 1 Kings 22:14, 17, 19-23, 35
"And the Lord said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' " Here, it's clearly the Lord who is asking who will entice Ahab, not a spirit asking the Lord to entice him.
I know we read it yesterday, but I'm trying to imagine Elijah killing 400 men. Did he do it himself physically or did he have the king's captain or soldiers do it? Were they pierced with a sword or beheaded or something else? It's so sad that they went to the grave without repenting. Thank God for Jesus who died for even them.
just a question: When God says He will not bring disaster on Ahab in his day ( 1 Kings 21:29 ) but then God planned Ahabs death at Ramoth Gilead. Was this because Ahab never truly repented at all?
That wicked heart of unbelief..as believers our own hearts are being transformed to follow the righteousness of God, but we don’t always listen. If we did that would mean that we are perfect. We are not🥺 but we are striving to bear our cross daily to crucify our flesh and live for God. Ahab didn’t really want God.. he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.
