A bully chased me home from the bus stop one day and, unfortunately, my dad happened to come home early and he saw me run inside and lock the door. He looked outside and said, "Are you running from that boy?" I said, "Yessir!" He opened up the door, pushed me outside and said, "You're gonna fight this boy. You might kick his ass or he might kick yours, but you'd better make damn sure he never wants to chase you home again." I fought him. Nobody kicked anybody's ass. I put up more of a fight than he expected and he put up less of one than I expected and we just fought till we were both worn out. But he never messed with me again. And before all of you people start chiming in about bad parenting, and kids being scarred if you do something like that, this was 1974, a different time than now; I was 13 years old and--honestly--I think that was one of the best things my dad ever did for me.
Another time, this kid and I had a problem with each other so we went out into the yard to fight. I was doing OK for a while, while we were throwing hands, but then he got behind me and started choking me. He pulled me to the ground and squeezed till I started having tunnel vision and my head felt like it was growing to the size of a pumpkin. Then all of sudden I felt him let up. I didn't know why, but he was completely off me. I turned to see what was happening and I saw my older sister on top of him beating his ass. That was the worst thing she ever did for me.

@@stayhooked9499 I have a friend that is the sweetest person. She was in prison over drugs. She got a longer sentence than child molesters. Maybe you should educate yourself. Also people get falsely imprisoned too. So it's not so cut and dry.

@@Alyse1978 It's been a few years, but so have I. When I needed help the most I was pursued, prosecuted and persecuted by those who used their disdain and power to push me down some more. Only driving me deeper into the chasms, now too afraid to seek help. All the while the crimes of those disdainful criminals behind badges were committing far more hanis crimes against those already identified as victims ,and turning a blind eye to the crimes of their peers. It's been years since then and I've been on a different track a long time now. To this day however, I am still looked at and treated in the same manner as the first time I was arrested..

My son was bullied a lot by the neigbors' kids, and I was really pissed, I taught my son how to fight but why he always lose. One day he went back home crying (as usual), and I said "how did you fight that kid, didn't I teach you how to fight?" And he told me that he threw punch and then waited, then threw another punch. So I gave him a technique to attack relentlessly, don't wait just strike and strike. And I threatened him, "Son, If I see you one more time entering this house crying but your friend aren't, I'll make you cry even more"
Two days later he went back home with eyes brimming with tears holding them really hard and said, "dad, I just won" and I said "to whom?" And he said, "to that kid (our landlord grandson), I punched his face and when he started screaming I kicked his stomach then he went back home crying. Then his two older brothers came and trying to hit me, but I hit them first and they ran away".
That would be my proudest moment as a dad to date. My 6 years old son can stand bullies. After that was respected by the neighborhood kids and he kept fighting whenever his friends try to bully him.
I'm pretty sure that we can't stop bullying, but we can teach our kids how to stand against it.
