I LOVE that interpreter, he does his job like he’s supposed to, barely ever changes words, and brings with the interpretation the energy that Charles puts into the original message.
But he did change the meaning (not on purpose I believe). Charles said he did pass the weight in and they took off his belt. The translator did not translate that, infortunately. It was the most important message of the post-fight..

he didn't translate everything he said, but I understand that memorizing everything he said is difficult. in the part where he talks about the team, he said it was the dude up there (God) who put him there, it would be nice if he had translated that.

Charles Olivera is a perfect example of how a fighter can grow. He lost a bunch when he was younger but trained and worked harder to improve. Now we’re seeing him in his prime. Dude has dominated the top lws so far and finishing them. The run he’s on is legendary
This is y I find him more impressive than khabib. Couple of years then he’ll surpass khabib as lightweight goat.

He knocked out Chandler and submited Dustin and Justin just like Khabib.
And he won 3 championship fights in less than a year. Khabib needed 3 years for that.
As a champion Olivera already has better achivements

I think you can excuse some of his early losses, when he probably should have been betting more experience at a smaller promotion rather than fighting guys like Jim Miller, but he lost to Paul Felder a few years ago. Say what you want about Khabib: even when he wasn't in his prime he didn't lost to a gatekeeper. Dude is a killer but he's got too many holes to be considered the GOAT.
That was brutal. Gotta respect both of them, absolute warriors. Regardless of all the scale drama, I'll always count that as a title defense.

What’s most impressive is that charles fought justin’s kind of fight. Literally toe to toe. Right in his face. Full pressure. This dude used to be just a grappler but his striking is insane now too. I think the cerebral mindset he applied to his bjj translate well to his understanding of striking too.

I was really impressed with Charles' striking speed, he was so much faster than Gaethje, even the leg kicks, Justin threw them and Charles leg was already up to dodge it.
And he was countering all of them. Justin kept throwing up his arms and looking confused after every leg kick b/c Charles was tagging him every time.
For 3mints hes getting battered by gaethje and kd two times only if gaethjes fighting iq is good he would have won this fight

Look, I wouldn't favor Charles vs Khabib. However, there's something about Charles that makes you just root for him. His poor background, his early career troubles, his dangerously risky fighting style, his politeness, his putting up with this title/scale nonsense, and his undeniable heart in wiping out the most competitive division in MMA. This man is a true legend of the UFC and deserves 100% of the praise without people comparing him to Khabib. Give him his flowers.

Charles last 3 fights he looked like he was almost finished before turning it around. His heart can no longer be questioned because he's consistently proving he will not quit
In this fight he was very far from finished, he may fallen twice but wasn't rocked, especially the second time.

I can safely say that this is the best fighter he has lost to, I did not for one moment expect Charles to be prepared to exchange in the pocket. I've always loved Charles and I was so worried that the missed weight would effect him negatively but Do Bronx literally used all that as fuel to basically dominate the number 1 contender in Gaethje. I’m convinced Gaethje never went to the ground with Oliviera because he knew Charles was bluffing and attempting to pull guard. Oliviera didn’t get rocked, he was merely trying to lure Gaethje into a grappling fight, which Gaethje knew he couldn’t win.
Are you out of your mind? Didn't you see Oliveira's bruised face? The guy was almost knocked out and wanted to be in his safe zone hence stayed down but if you said he has incredible recovery I would agree for sure!
First knockdown looked genuine but the second one looked like what you were describing. Extremely smart because if Gaethje didn't go to the ground (which he didn't), Charles just gets free time to recover and if he did go to the ground, Charles is in his element.

Charles is truly a well rounded elite fighter and there lies the difference. When Justin dropped Charles he was still terrified of Charles ground game and wouldnt follow through, unlike Charles who dropped Justin and immediately went for the finish confidently. Gaethje was never a match for him and getting choked out in the first round is proof of that.
This morning I was thinking .. damn Charles has wayyyyy more variety in offense and defense than Justin that it’s crazy he’s being considered the underdog in this fight.
