Immediate like from me. I follow the rule that ANY video showing someone enjoying an Alfetta GTV, be it a four cylinder or the V6... you get a like. I have fond childhood memories of GTVs... sorry.
Ongelooflike restorasie ek is oud genoeg om hulle nuut op die vloer te gesien het, joune is so goed soos nuut, waarskynlik skoner😀 Die fabriek was in Brits, nie Rosslyn nie, dankie vir die video!
Nice video, awesome car. Cool channel. You have a really good selection in cars. Your Porsche is cool too, also wanted to buy one when I lived in SA. Anyways look forward to lots more videos in Future of these cars. Enjoy
Such a beautiful car😍. My dad owned his 2.5l but unfortunately was stolen is 2002. Obviously I was really small at the time so I don't have much memory of the car. From the pictures alone this has become my dream car and hopefully one day I will be able to say I own a Alfa Romeo Gtv6.
Hello Kreepy Crawley! Love your GTV6 and it appears the restoration came out very nice. Agree on the teething problems. I'd say with any restoration there will be that. In addition, like you say, any old car will have issues. I call it old-car"itus". I've had my GTV6 for a good 30 years now and recently had a shop strip the car down and sent to body and paint. It's back but needs to be put together plus have the transmission gone through. Honestly, I think my GTV6 has been a great car. The real problem is me!!!! ;-) Can't leave it alone. I now has a Alfa 75 gearbox with LSD, 4-cam 3.0L with some up grades, suspension upgrades, Girodisk brakes all around (vented on floating hats for the inboard rears), different seats, and an arms length list of other detail changes. I tell you though, I think the 4-cam engine was more than necessary since I'm not putting the car on race tracks (used to in the past). I believe your configuration with the 2.8 upsize yet stock Bosch L-Jetronic is nearly ideal for these cars. Seems the 2.5 is just too underpowered, but more displacement (up to a point) really helps. Good luck with your car and I look forward to getting behind the wheel of mine in the next six months or so!
Thanks for the great comments Snarge, please do share some pics of your lovely car! P.S. I also struggle to leave the car alone, if I'm not driving her I'm improving her!
I'm fairly sure they all had the split dash until '84 when they changed to the newer style single integrated dash. The rev counter was meant to go in front of the driver because when racing it's the most important gauge and the rest moved to the centre. Change your diff for better gearing. I forget the years when the ratios were better for motorway driving (84?), but a bit of research will find something more to your liking.
No I think that might have just been a South African thing, until Alfa used up all their old dashboards. I had an 82 in period with the later. It’s the same as the safari seat fabric, I never saw that outside of SA. Unless it had been exported.
I find it interesting that you have a 2.8L displacement due to the car having 3.0 pistons, does it use the 2.5L case and crankshaft to achieve this? Any info would be great!
Hi Ryan, initially we also thought she was running hot, but then we hooked up another GTV's heat gauge and it was at 90 degrees, so seems gauge is over-reading a bit...
Hi, That was my observation as well and also on oil pressure when it was running at about 3000 rpm the gauge showed about 1 bar wich is quite low for that engine speed. On the other hand other part of the video shows 3 bar around 4000 which is perfectly good and somewhat north of 4 bar at close to redline. To be safe, please, check it with a proper manometer in a workshop that just the sensor has problem reading the lower pressures and not your oil pump fail to deliver enough oil at lower and mid-range rev.
What a stunning car and so beautiful...Thank you for the history on this classic!
Amazing restoration. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Hi Paul, yes stock crank etc, just the 3.0 pistons, and block needs to be skimmed...

Hi Alphonzo, original lights, but new old stock

11:57 is it not running a bit hot otherwise lovely car ive got a 2.0 gtv and I'm just about finished its engine restoration

@@kreepycrawley6713 ok cool but still 90 degrees is even hot for that engine the mod is to run a slightly cooler fan switch

Are you thinking of selling it?
Nope, plan on keeping her as long as possible
