Whilst we’re on the subject of John Cleese, I’d like to nominate Amanda’s for the ‘bad’ category. It’s not the worst show ever, but more a case of “what was the point in making it in the first place?”
It was a US remake of Fawlty Towers starring Bea Arthur as both Basil and Sybil. Well, kind of. They cast Bea in the main role, but instead of having a gender-swapped Sybil character (which I think could have been interesting), they made her a widow and gave her both Basil and Sybil’s lines for some bizarre reason. John Cleese talked about how baffled he was by it in an interview. He said “they told me “we’re doing a remake of Fawlty Towers, but we’ve written out Basil””.
The show was a flop, and Bea was devastated having just come off the huge success of Maude. Apparently she vowed to never do another sitcom again. Thankfully, a few years later, Rue McClanahan got her to change her mind and convinced her to take the role of Dorothy in The Golden Girls (which was written with Bea in mind but not initially offered to her, as the producers were convinced she’d say no).

Rock and Chips was one of them shows were I don't know if it was bad or good. I remember thinking the story was interesting, but throughout I was thinking where is the comedy?. It's a big tonal departure from only fools. Now that I know it's a drama based around the origins of the beloved Only Fools characters the series could possibly benefit from a second watch. It is an interesting show but it's definitely not a comedy, so just be more open to that than I was when I first watched it.
Also I feel like the cast for a young del and co was a bit off. James Buckley and co gave good performances but they were probably a bit too old to be playing 15-16 year olds at this point in their careers. For that reason I never really bought into the idea that this was a young Del since James Buckley looked 10 years older than the character he was playing.

HOLD THE SUNSET - 2018... And BBC... Yeah, I had stopped watching TV about that time and dont pay a TV license as I still dont watch TV now... So never heard of it!
ROCK AND CHIPS - Never watched it, I know it was supposed to be some kind of Only Fools and Horses Prequel Series... And I think that put me off!
KATH AND KIM - Why so many I have never heard of??? LOL!
THE BALDY MAN - OH GOD NOW THIS ONE I REMEMBER!!! I only ever saw one episode... That was ENOUGH! Just cos something works in a short skit or a TV Commercial does not mean it will make a good sitcom! Gregor Fisher could be very funny... I loved him in Naked Video - But this was DOG SHITE!!!!

The Baldy Man was just awful.
Not sure if this was inspired by the Baldy Man but another terrible show I'd recommend is Pompidou staring Mat Lucas as Pompidou. Only ran for 6 episodes in March-May 2015. Based around a down-on-his-luck oddball aristocrat who has lost his fortune and is forced to live in a rundown caravan with his butler and his dog. Every week they try to get food or money and fail, in a world where nobody speaks intelligible English; instead, humans gabble and rhubarb gibberish. Pompidou is immediately comparable to Mr Bean and Laurel & Hardy. But in no way lives up to these excellent shows and is just plane bad.

It’s a shame that the BBC didn’t quite know how to handle the gorgeous Ed Westwick’s legal tribulations (this was during the height of public outrage and moral panic over Hollywood’s shady sexual underbelly). I laughed at that Never the Twain clip. Through all those clips from bad ones I have sat there stony faced. But that one made me laugh. Never saw it, but that has to be a good sign.
John Cleese has had huge alimony bills for a while, so I think that was behind his choice to do the one here.
The foreign character in that only fools and horses prequel clip sounds like Darren Farley's impression of Mikel Arteta.
Underrated; Third Rock from the Sun. Always overshadowed because Red Dwarf was on at the same time and as a science fiction comedy it had a much bigger profile in this country, but Third Rock was always great. And had proper actors rather than comedians, so it worked better. For me.

One of the "comedies" I hated the most (aside from Mrs Brown and Citizen Khan, it's an afront that they play on UK "Gold" alongside true classics) is "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps". So unfunny. It was supposed to be edgy, laddish humour like Men Behaving Badly, but it contained none of the character. The so-called jokes were quite often just rude or gross, not that I am a prude at all, it's just that being rude alone is not funny.

I do remember watching, 'The Baldy Man', and did give it a chance, but it has to be said that there's certain instances were a sketch from another popular comedy show that's been drawn out into, not only a complete episode, but a complete series, (2 series, apparently), isn't going to go down very well. Much like trying to spread a single dollop of jam over all the slices of a whole loaf of bread. The humour was so thinly spread as to be practically unnoticeable. The fact that it was in the style of how the previous Mr. Bean was played, i.e. no dialogue, didn't help, either. There were one or two instances of genuine comedy, but they were few and far between. Good for a 30 second advert, (Hamlet), or a sketch on a comedy show, (Naked Video), but as an entire series? Nah..

A quiz called 'Wogan's Perfect Recall was broadcast on Channel Four a few years ago.
It was an awful attempt by the Togmister to try and convince people he could host a quiz.
I always felt 'Through The Keyhole' with the brilliant David Frost and Llyod Grossman was an excellently entertaining show.
An underrated quiz show was 'Fifteen to One', which was hosted by William G. Stewart and aired on Channel Four.

If we’re going down the Matt Lucas route, ‘Pompidou’ was another of those silent comedy jobs in the Mr Bean/Baldy Man mode and it was terrible.

6:45 I would have classed Kath & Kim as rubbish and overrated personally, I tried to get into it but I just find it really boring and unfunny.
For female lead Aussie sitcoms I thought Fisk was a far better show.

Also the show summer heights high a mockumentary of the aussie school system. You might like as you enjoy the Aussie stuff. The main character is disingenuous with everyone and makes everything about themself.
There was another gameshow with Jimmy Carr called your face or mine(what were they thinking) people went on the show and their partner had to say who wss better looking out of them and their brother cousin etc 😆 and think the audience voted too. 😅 Completely demoralising.

Even prequels to excellent source material are a letdown, eg...

      Hannibal Rising
