I think it would have been better IF Frontier actually enabled a setting in sandbox where the herbivroes would be able to feed on the non-paleobotany plants as though they were their preferred food. Basically just turn off the paleobotany requirements without turning off herbivore hunger, and have the feed from either painted foliage or placeable decorative plants too. That would have been great.
I went down the rabbit hole of dinosaurs because my cousin showed me them like literally when I was born I don’t remember it but I can name some from the skulls lol
But this UA-cam actually influenced me getting the game, as I saw my cousin playing it I told her I might get it and then I saw your channel so thanks😂
As someone who’s recently switched to Ps5, I can also tell you switching to one era and trying to make a park off of a limited selection helps brainstorm ideas for later all eras builds As for old gen console gang, keep coming up with fantastic ideas
Herbivore feeders would be a nice return especially if you could use them in addition to the foliage as food system. I often run into issues with herbivores mixed in one habitat with conflicting foliage needs and its constant back and forth of fixing which sometimes is close but not close enough. If I could just chuck in a feeder or two to fix the last little bit it would make this process much easier and would give us just a lil extra breathing room to decorate for esthetics vs just the game mechanics. Love your content EVO!!
I definitely like having the foliage actually feed them, I usually end up building large forested areas where all of my herbivores live together technically, but they automatically stay to their own food source and create their own territory. Then you add attractions to view them. Basically im fencing the humans and carnivores instead. I also like to have park sections and technically more dangerous outer section, no one has ever died from an interaction with a dino but the inside park arrival section is much safer still, as sometimes there is hardly anything holding smaller herbivores away from the humans. I know the game doesn't care but I can't feel like I did it right if they don't have massive amounts of space to roam. It also opens the doors for great trips in those car things. Also it's more like what they where doing in the movies. lol
Just signed up as a paleobotanist 😊. Seen your channel about 2 weeks ago been watching every day to get ideas. It's insane how good your parks turn out keep up the great work Evo
What if frontier added those coin operated viewing binoculars. They could be at the elevated path areas, they would basically be a smaller version of the viewing stand with less viewing range
It's how quick you do path decorations! Would take me about an hour to do that path under the monorail to get the plant boxes straight and the right gap in-between to put the lights. 😂
Thank you so much for videos like these!!! Although I have the limitations of playing on a PS4 when it comes to variety for decorations, fences, etc (which is really disappointing and I hope will change soon), your builds inspire me so much and have helped me to create parks I’m really proud of 🥰❤️
Thanks for this video Evo my guest areas have vastly improved because of your videos and now I'm sure my enclosures will improve as well.(Also you're right about the herbivore feeders i miss them too)
Awesome video!!! Also I have the Idea of making a Lance formation Exhibit with Struthiomimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Corythosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus, what I would do is have a river with invisible fencing separating the trex from the Herbivores to it gives off the illusion that they're in the same pen but they're not
I dont miss the herbivore feeders, and I like using the paleobotany a lot (I like to try to make my enclosures as close to 'historically' accurate as i can) but i do wish a) they counted as forest (at least the calamite and tempskya) and b) you had tall and ground only versions, so i could create an enclosure that only used the seed plants suitable for smaller herbivores for example, and mix it with the calamites only suitable for the tall veggiesaurus's. I also miss the greenhouse from the first game, and would love to see it back in some way, would be a pretty cool attraction.
Sorry, a year late to this video but I have a question about 9:34 where you talk about using objects to create the perimeter. Do you not have any kind of fencing at all and just prevent escapes by making the area inaccessible like you discussed, or are you using invisible fences and masking the lines with objects to keep them out of the sight lines?
Amazing, i just picked it up again and try to remember how everything worked in this game :D Played the first part a lot but never really got started in the second part. So i am excited now to begin and with videos like this i am even more inspired. Thanks.

Although I'm not a beginner as I also bought JWE 1 (2018), I'm still ignorant about sandbox mode. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Apparently I have to play certain "challenges" and different "Chaos Theory" modes to gain access to all species and genome modifications/disease treatments in sandbox mode. I don't know to what extent the campaigns make additional stuff available. Can you tell me what campaigns, challenges and chaos theories are required to have everything available in sandbox mode? I agree. I hate it when I’m building a winter park and I have to use the ugly tall fiber for dreadnoughtus. I remember before JWE2 came out and I was complaining about my herbivores not being able to eat the trees and grass in JWE1🤣
2:17 i was like ???who tf is venom??? i dont know anyone on steam called venom, did one of my fiends rename themselves? nope... it was in the video lmao
I would like to see a return of the herbivore feeders as an alternative to the paleo-botanical foliage. I feel as long as they have viable food to eat from a feeder, they shouldn't lose their minds over lack of fruit trees. Maybe reimplement the herbivore feeders and the paleo feeders/greenhouse in a way that your dinosaurs can just eat from the basic feeder, but get benefits/higher score from paleo specific feeder(like JWE 1) or the "natural" plant sources. Both would have different benefits. Anyways, beautiful enclosure as always! Something i think about a lot, the way they changed dinosaur needs in this game vs JWE 1, is because we're supposed to focus slightly less on a park and more on creating a safe place for dinosaurs. I think they should implement a setting at the "park entrance", that would determine if it's a park(dinosaurs would have lesser needs, especially space), a research facility (on a challenge map/or the original campaign maps you'd make money based more on what you're researching and what dinosaurs you produce, and basically get a stipend based on that, since a real research facility wouldn't need much in the way of gift shops or hotels. Certain"guests needs would be altered to reflect.), or a sanctuary (makes you immune to taxes, and some other liability costs, and would get a stipend based on dinosaur biodiversity/population and highest standards of natural needs for the dinosaurs). I feel the last one would work the best if they implemented some sort of breeding mechnic, like "breeding grounds" which would basically be a hatchery without the building, and the dinos develop without any exterior input, you could only watch. Other constraints would happen, like for the research facilities, research and creating creatures in a labis cheaper. For the sanctuary, even if you had previously built a creation lab and used it, if you change it to a sanctuary you can no longer create lab grown creatures. You could always change it back and re-identify it as a research facility or park. Under a park setting, the settings would be exactly as they are now. I just think, specifically with the original campaign and even the Biosyn expansion, they were supposed to be geared more towards research and conservation than being traditional parks. Being able to switch between a park, research facility or sanctuary/preserve would diversify what you could do, especially with the custom challenge, and even being able to lock that setting. Also, on a different note/rant, I would still like to be able to travel between different maps and be able to transfer dinos back and forth, like the Malta DLC, but with Isla Nublar + Five Deaths. Maybe something similar with the original campaign and Biosyn. Yanking dinosaurs from orior maps that you can revisit, transport them to Pennsylvania for medical stuff, then sending them to the Biosyn facility.
I feel like the game mechanics somewhat inhibit making the a cool cute enclosure. I remember planning out a little habitat with some raptors but the lil guys needed more space so I had to move all my buildings because if it.
One trick I use is placing different paleobotany plants in different areas, which can lure herbivores to different parts of the enclosure. Not sure how well it works but I think it works alright
Im really bummed out that the older consoles don't get all buildings, foliage and decorations on all maps but for me it really helps with making more themed builds that reflect the biome and era more. Yippie :)
Classic pylons can make a good fence by putting the realy close together the problem is even when it seems a dino cant escape they can so you need to add invisible fences
