Warm coat, and the meat is good for the dogs and emergencies. That fuzzy thing that protects the seal and makes it so perfect as a cute animal is the same thing that makes the difference between life and death in cold weather. If you removed the element of survival from the equation I think they're really cute and wholesome animals.

Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.

Do not approach seals, not only for your own safety but theirs as well. Seals are mostly solitary creatures with terrible mobility on land. You tower over them, and stress them out. The older individuals will either flee or if they feel cornered, try to bite. Seals harbor nasty bacteria in their mouths that could result in very serious infections. Baby seals, while less dangerous to humans, can be abandoned if the mother feels it is no longer safe to be in the area, or die of stress. It’s actually quite sad something so cute is so terrified of humans. No matter how cute they are, do not approach the seals. Stay well away from them.
This little visit didn't hurt that seal one bit. I had no intention of harming it and if you watch and had I kept filming you would have seen I backed off immediately and left the area. We are a small land area that has 8 million of harp seals just in the northern part of the province. About 300 dead ones washed ashore this week and wildlife officials didn't give second thought about them. My friend was calling and emailing to report it and had to contact media before anything was even investigated. The majority of the people here bashing me have no idea about this animal, nor do they know I backed off and left it alone. Internet is filled with ignorance anyway.

The older individuals will either flee or if they feel cornered, try to bite. Seals harbor nasty bacteria in their mouths that could result in very serious infections.
Baby seals, while less dangerous to humans, can be abandoned if the mother feels it is no longer safe to be in the area, or die of stress. It’s actually quite sad something so cute is so terrified of humans.
No matter how cute they are, do not approach the seals. Stay well away from them.
This little visit didn't hurt that seal one bit. I had no intention of harming it and if you watch and had I kept filming you would have seen I backed off immediately and left the area.
We are a small land area that has 8 million of harp seals just in the northern part of the province. About 300 dead ones washed ashore this week and wildlife officials didn't give second thought about them. My friend was calling and emailing to report it and had to contact media before anything was even investigated. The majority of the people here bashing me have no idea about this animal, nor do they know I backed off and left it alone. Internet is filled with ignorance anyway.
