I literally can't believe how cute this thing is. I watch A LOT of animal videos and these guys are the most adorable things I've seen. They make me want to cry because they're so cute. I have never cried because of how cute something is. Like, what? How is it possible for something to be so cute that I have a physical reaction? Question to the photographer: I would love to hear from you about your process. Like, what does it take for you to get this outstanding footage? It must be freezing and there must be very few resources suited for a human around for you. Do you backpack in? I am so curious!

So the thing is, this seal is gonna, or probably abandoned by its mom, harp seals stay with it for a few weeks, then abandon it starving and vulnerable for the next, what 2 months? Until it can swim.

I heard that Antarctic photographers cant actually feed/pet any of the seals and other animals, since the animals might become dependent on humans, and i just wanna say that i applaud and deeply respect all Antarctic photographers for their self restraint to not pet and adopt these beautiful fluffy boys
I am definitely petting those things once the camera is off

They are going extinct because of their hunting
Seals are adorable and would be awesome to pet but most seals are larger than humans and even a baby seal like this has sharp canines and molars due to being a pinniped. Plus the bacteria from raw fish as well as saliva and blood doesn’t make the risk worth it. Hell elephant seals can be 20 feet long and 8,800 pounds

@@dragonlordplacidusax9413 it was scary episode but I think it was called “the empty child” if you wanted to search it up. I watched it a very long time ago so what I say might be wrong. When people wear this gas mask, they would start chanting “are you my mummy”. I remember one scene where everyone wore the mask and surrounded our protagonists repeating that phrase- I definitely forgot a lot about this episode but do remember that it was very creepy and gave me nightmares for a while

Baby seals are eventually left behind do lean how to do stuff by themselves before they can swim, so that may be possible if the parents aren't still there. If the parents are there you'll get clawed.
