When he started here he utilized the best marketing of step by step horse training so anyone could train “if” they wanted to put in the time. He was also correct to say “Do the Method” step by step. Once horsemen establish solid horsemanship then tweak it to your program Clinton Anderson is great
      at this.

Gotta love Clinton! I have used one of his trainers on three different occasions and don’t regret a penny of the cost. His method works and his phone app is my most valuable possession. I am one of the old women spoken of 😂😂 and I’m thankful that he gave me a program that has kept me safe! I have grown up with horses, did the rodeo life for years and had no clue how much I didn’t know until applying his program. He deserves to retire early!

I love that he talked about people pulling up in a modest rig with 1.5 million worth of horses and then another has a 350k rig with a 40k donkey in the back....I relate so much to this. I love when someone pulls up to the barrel race in a rusty old rig and wins the 1D and smiles and drives off in their rusty rig!

Clinton’s right about pricing. Years ago I had an independent Apple computer dealership. I had a national chain open 1 block from me. They would price their product less than us and advertise their prices where the “lowest in town”. I decided to increase my prices 10%. Yes, we lost some sales but we also lost all the problem customers. We also made more $$ on a lower volume sales.

Haha, I don't know how it is that I've only just heard this one. Watching from Australia. My filly has been at the trainer for 2 weeks, and he's totally correct. I'm heading up this weekend to check out how she's doing. In another month, all going well, she'll be home and ready to ride out. She wasn't a blank canvas when she went, but never had a saddle on or a rider on her back. I had no idea the US trainers were so crooked! Glad you all get to see how it can be done, and hope you get to see an improvement in your trainers attitudes Great chat.

Clinton said, “I am a people trainer”. He said so much and totally spoke truth boldly. Clinton does a great job explaining the horse business world, he did work his butt off and did advance horsemanship to the general public. Maybe a little less f word, for me. Thanks for sharing the inside, behind the scenes of a truly great horseman. Love the statement charge them a $100 and make sure they leave thinking they got $130 or more. Clinton is definitely a rarity in his business practices, also in his blunt this is how it works.

That is very interesting. I used to ride 8 ponies a day for my trainer for free and not be paid. I thought it was more like my trainer was paying me for all the knowledge I got, and not only all of them to ride but watching all his and his wife's lessons going on around me while I was riding all those ponies every day. I got to ride 8 a day because I showed up 6-7 days a week no matter what the weather and rode all day. I walked into the barn, and we would look at a chart, and the chart would list the 8 ponies I was assigned to ride that day. I got to ride some great ponies. Well, I rode horses, too, but I'm 4'11" tall and so became the pony rider. I broke ponies, too. The first little horse I trained (and broke) was when I was 12 - I convinced my parents to buy me an AQHA colt at the place I boarded. He wasn't even weaned yet. My parents didn't know anything about horses, so they bought me a $65 seal brown horse that was a stallion until we bought him at age 12, the horse I boarded when I saw the colt, and they only gave me a bridle and didn't know I needed a saddle, so I would be thrown up on him bareback, he would rear straight up, and take off in a gallop on 100 acres with my hands wrapped in his mane, and that's how I learned to ride. That was when I was about 10 or 11. But I would say, I was really a little professional rider since around age 16, because of all the ponies I rode. I never set out to be a pony trainer. It just sort of happened, and as life went on, people kept asking me to "fix" their ponies. And, so I did. And, so then there were more ponies. I do ride horses, and ride one that was "the free TB that wasn't really free," a mare that is 17.3, who I later saved her life when a surgeon pulled her through a $5000 surgery for an ethmoid hematoma (CT scan of her head and all), and she decided I was ok when I had to clean her, etc. for 6 weeks afterward. She hated women, and was handled by big men at the track, until the girl who let her go got her and then I came along. But, yeah, that's interesting about all the "free" work that taught you so much. That's the same way I felt about all those ponies I rode every day. And it wasn't always the same 8 ponies; it was a big barn and lots of horses and ponies came and went. Top of the line hunter ponies. National champions.

I got Clinton’s original tapes, Gaining Respect and Control On The Ground, in 2008. They were the most impactful, informative and eye-opening lessons I ever saw. They gave order to the tools I already had in my training box and paved the way for the fabulous relationship I now have with my horses. I like them better than his latest DVDs.
