Love my 2014 adapts. They did take a good few sessions to bed in and get that good feel.

Pretty relatable with the switch-up thing Sir Ben! On point!
There's really skates that luring you into doing such.. and there's this one solid smooth trick type of skates!

These are the old version of the skates before they put in the separate padded ankle protection/liner - much much more comfortable now no rubbing in that area

Yes! You nailed it with the adapt feeling like a single trick skate. I bought the deck last march and by Christmas I was in Mesmers. I don’t dislike the skate but I wasn’t loving them either. They are still one of the most comfortable skates to ware but not that great for grinding

I both detested these skates when I tried someone's on, but also am curious is I had a fresh pair + I think it makes your (Ben) style a bit more textbook / squatted and perpendicular to the ledge on torques, etc, which I think looks cool, just my personal pref)...
Switch ups are more difficult I imagine due to squatted lower (takes more leg strength to squat than stand tall), plus the steeper angles (possibly, narrower soul than your usuals?) = the skate is more decisively in a certain position (further committed to that specific angle vs. some other), plus that they are stiff AF with very little "buffer" in the liner which (just guessing) is probably not real comfy to be switching your foot position over and over inside there. That was my experience anyway, felt painful, sorta like USD carbons, not sure which was more painful.

Have you heat molded them, I mean at all?

Always fancied a pair of Adapts, but i’ve started skating my usd carbons a bit now. All these types of skates seem to have that thing with the ankle for some reason. Not been too bad at all with the carbons i’m skating now.

I found a cheap used pair last year and was really excited about them, but had the same experience as you. Same size foot, too. Thought the fit itself was great, they were light, really responsive and had good power transfer in transitions, but frankly I'm not good enough to make a skate like this work. I'm still learning topside stuff and these just weren't working for me. But I know there are people that swear by them and kill it in them, so again I think it's more on me and not the skates. Just not for me.

Back to blading for myself I wanted these skates so bad just the fact it’s meant for your foot and I was thinking if I ever did get them probably wouldn’t get the straps

    • @Eightscult
      @Eightscult Рік тому +1

You need the straps the straps don’t affect the flexibility the boot is a non hinged cuff that’s what makes them stiff and completely different to other skates 👌🏻🙌🏻

Did you intentionally have the soul plates on the wrong way round, at least on the left skate you mainly hold on your walk through. You have the negative on the positive and vice versa.

You know that’s the correct assessment you have there for a first impression in order to really get comfortable on it a day at Skate are you really got Skating for at least three weeks and someone like you know not every day of the week but does three weeks or month skating on average in it then you’ll start to feel the sweet spot about the scape but yeah they’re super Stephen a cough if you go to your dad website even say you got a just a lease to get the right amount thanks Julie why but once you have that time on the skates that feeling you get where you think you do you don’t want to do switch up like you want to be solid one trip and will change over to you I want to switch over something because like you said it requires your body to get used too.

Feel like basically giving my 30 year old trick blades away was a mistake after seeing how much money some of these are worth. They'd have been pretty expensive for that time though I guess.

I have these skates and there are a few things I can massively agree with.
    - Ankle rub/pressure point. This is bad. However I heat moulded and exaggerated movement and it resolved it.
    - Lacing. I noticed you leave the top eyelet open. I removed the power strap and have two lace/tie points. I tie them at the ankle and at the top. Stops movement but makes a very rigid skate.
    - Tear up of the nubuck - I have a child and he destroys trainers so I bought crep spray for his shoes. This has helped a bit BUT I went for a black skate as I expected these to be banged up.
Decent review and a lot I agree with. I have a few pairs of skates and if I jump back to my Sway or M12 I notice that I feel floppy AF.

What you skate non-carbon, bro this things must be heavy, I bet you can save at least 69 grams if you got the Carbon version. Then you can literally flex on the skatepark with your job infront of the 12 yearsold scooter kids.
