I visited Brazil in 2019 - Sao Paola and Rio and was blown away !! A very developed nation and met lovely people. I lost my wallet in Paris (I flew enroute Paris) and when I arrived in Rio, I was waiting at the airport for a few hours so my wife could send me money via western union when they open back at home. While waiting an airport official noticed I had been around for sometime without leaving the airport. She came and asked me why I was waiting for so long and why I hadn’t left the airport - to cut the long story short, she made a call and got someone to lead me to a taxi driver outside the airport to take me to my hotel and she paid for my fare. When I got to the hotel, I told them that I needed to get to where I can claim the money sent to me by my wife and again they allowed me to check into the hotel and also arranged for a taxi to take me to where I cashed the money and bring me back to the hotel. That was so kind of them and I thank God for the favour I was shown. By the way and most importantly- a very educational video. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾👍🏾

Blessup and yes... for us who are descendants of those who were taken away from Africa... slavery is a big part of our history... Our ancestors were captured and traded to foreigners for weapons, assorted valuables and money... back then it was considered just business, but our people suffered. We live in a different world now and it would nice to see a unity among all african peoples... whether by slavery, colonization or tribal wars... we all have some pain and now that pain can be used as a common ground to unite us. Blessup Maya, one Love. #NewGeneration
I know how hard you work. So today I comment just to support you. The truth is that Africans on the continent did not know what actually happened because the ones who were snatched away never came back to tell us. Our history taught in school was sanitized to not mention the crimes against humanity. Movies romanticized life in the new world. It is only with Social Media that we are getting to hear of the horrors first-hand. But many of us now suffer from cognitive dissonance.
God bless that great guy who took Wode Maya around and paid for transportation and all San Paulio, Bravil. He also got a restaurant job for the fair-skin guy in the white cardigan/sweater👍🏽. Thanks to him being the tour guy again.

Re-watching the video again. It was visually amazing first time but even more so the second time. Wode Maya, your video captures the hidden treasures of Brazil and reconnects them back to Africa!❤
It is impressive that every video of foreigners visiting Brazil has Caribbean rhythms, cucarachas, as a musical background. This is imperialism! They level, out of ignorance, all the countries of Latin America, where each country has its own particularity, rhythms and totally different cultures!
Wow! This is an interesting perspective. I guess it could be from football and "samba". I run a global culture education programme where I showcase all cultures. What would you say its a more representative music of Brazil, please?
@@djpete2009In addition to Samba and Bossa Nova, which are really the most representative rhythms of Brazilian culture internationally, we have other more popular rhythms such as Brazilian Funk, Sertanejo Music (similar to Country Music), Forró, MPB, which are the rhythms that actually play the most on streaming and radios here in Brazil.
It was very refreshing to see this video with Afro Brazilians who are proud of and loving their culture there. I'm on that would love to go to Brazil;I've had the opportunity to visit Panama and Cuba and loved the experience of meeting the people of African Ancestry. Ty for making this great cultural video.
Considering the many similarities between Brazil and Angola in terms of food, music, mannerisms, etc., it proves how closely connected the Brazilian people are to Africa in general and Angola in particular.

Race is so interesting in Brazil. I lived from 1988 - 1990 in Sao Paulo and I've been back a couple of times since; I'm African American. I always try to keep up on happenings in Brazil. I do speak and read Portuguese. Interestingly my French tutor who is Haitian lived about 4 years in Brazil with his wife and daughte, and about a year ago they immigrated to Portugal. We frequently discuss racial issues in the world and of course in Haiti, the US, Africa and Europe. I never forget that yes, Brazil has the largest population of people of African descent outside of Africa and 2nd only to Nigeria as you said in the world. Truth is there were large populations of blacks all over South America but in places like Argentina they really tried to whiten their population. Brazil got way more slaves than the US did. I love Brazil, Brazilians, their usic, the way the speak. It's a huge country. Beleza. Happily the idea that there is no racism in Brazil has and continues to be proven false. I love your blog. I really feel that Brazil is a part of me now. I feel so lucky, I'm from the US, I've lived in Brazil, in France which has a large black population and I've been to Africa so the diaspora is a passion.
I'm sorry to tell you, but Brazil is not just black. bWe have the largest Italian colony in the world here and the second largest German one, and the black population is actually a minority. A mixed-race person You may consider yourself black, but genetically you are NOT. You guys in the USA think that children of black people are black, regardless of whether their mother or father is white. They simply DELETE this miscegenation. I cannot consider myself white, because like most Brazilians I'm mixed race. I have black, indigenous ancestors, a deceased Spanish father, an Italian grandmother. And black children, they are children of a black man and, they consider themselves black, but despite their phenotypes, they also have the white side of their skin. family. In the USA there are more black people, because unfortunately they rarely mix. I do not know why.

Brazil is indeed a beautiful place to live.
I love Brazil ❤
I read a lot about Brazil on Nairaland and I told myself I had to see these things for myself but when I got to Brazil, I was blown away... Paulista is an iconic place to be. took a lot of pictures there.
Me too..I hope to go some day
I'm planning to come over too I'm a nairaland too
Wode is a real African deal

I'm so proud of you and all that you do! Thank you for connecting South America and Africa! From an American living in Ghana.❤
I was in Sao Paolo in 2012 and i can truly say that the people are one of the nicest in the world...very diversell!!! beautiful city, very friendly people and you can literally ask anyone on the streets for help with anything ....i personally didnt experience any racism and i was there only a few weeks so i cant speak for everyone but i felt at home and will definitely visit again
You must be white, not Black!
@beulahokonkwo oh No!!! I'm a pure blooded African born and raised....and have been to many countries...everyone's experiences are different...did you ever visit Brazil? Well if you haven't then don't comment!!! As a traveller I can tell you for a fact that there's more Racism and Colourism in the USA where I currently reside, than there is in Brazil...so if you don't have any experiences, don't make false allegations and assumptions...
@kingkweku9761 there is definitely racism there.
@@jlionmenelik77 did you experience it when you were there?
Wode Maya, you are just amazing! Nice to visit our Africans cousins in Brazil. Give us more of other African communities in south American countries !
Wode Maya I love what you do, you are bringing our people together one country at a time. There are so many of our people in the Caribbean countries and Islabds, you wouldn't believe your eyes. Some of our people don't acknowledge them selves as Africans but I know and accept my ancestral roots. I have been to Kenya and loved it. Africa is a special place to me. Do your thing, the universe will lead and provide for your travels.
Thank you Wode Maya for showing us Brazil. Watching from Namibia 🇳🇦
My beautiful country my wife is from Brazil my first daughter is born in Brazil before i move to USA i miss Brazil a lot God bless Brazil ❤❤❤❤❤
I've met a number of Brazilians in Johannesburg but they were all white. Thanks for brining our brothers & sisters to us via the channel. And please do come back to Joburg & explore the museums.
I am a black woman from Brazil and I am in Canada. Most Braziliams that immigtate here are white because they have money.
I've brought back my previous comment on this video! EXCELLENT PRODUCTION💯👍. You have our support always!
I appreciate that!
Hello Maya,we really appreciate what you're doing for us with your slogan "Africa to the world",I can't wait to see you and your team in my country of Sénégal where I'm watching you from presently.thanks a bundle!!!
MAYA AND HIS TEAM WERE IN SENEGAL 🇸🇳 FEW YEARS AGO .
Love that he is showing not just Africa, but the African diaspora. It matters!
I lived in Valinhos a beautiful city some 80 kilometres away from Sao Paulo. My children were born in Sao Paulo at the Albert Einstein hospital! I miss Brazil a lot! Que saudades❤.
Albert Einstein...? What did he do for Brazil...I wonder ..🤔

My second home , the country that gave me all . Eu ti amo Brasil❤
Woooow am speechless, is this Brazil so beautiful
Blessup and yes... for us who are descendants of those who were taken away from Africa... slavery is a big part of our history... Our ancestors were captured and traded to foreigners for weapons, assorted valuables and money... back then it was considered just business, but our people suffered. We live in a different world now and it would nice to see a unity among all african peoples... whether by slavery, colonization or tribal wars... we all have some pain and now that pain can be used as a common ground to unite us. Blessup Maya, one Love. #NewGeneration
Watching from the United States of America Baltimore Maryland
I am Brazilian and I have been to Baltimore twenty-two years ago.
I appreciate this
It’s amazing seeing Wode Maya explore and educating us about other cultures of the world not only Africa 👏🏾👏🏾
God bless that great guy who took Wode Maya around and paid for transportation and all San Paulio, Bravil.
He also got a restaurant job for the fair-skin guy in the white cardigan/sweater👍🏽.
Thanks to him being the tour guy again.
Beautiful city of Brazil 🇧🇷 and yes it looks very clean 👌 we love you Africa to the world continue ❤ 💙 ♥
Ohh I can not wait to visit Brazil! thank you for sharing!
First time commenting here. I admire you for honouring your mom with your channel name, WODE MAYA. I saw your channel for the first time a couple months ago. Since then , I check in frequently. I majored in History and Geography in Teachers College. However, there is still so much to learn continuously and I am learning a lot from you! I am originally from Jamaica, now living in the countryside of Ontario Canada. Just love what you do. Your laugh is contagious. Keep on laughing. Blessings and protection to you! 🙏🙏
Brazil is beautiful ❤️.
Brazil single handedly hosted the world ... I will love to visit the country one day
I love Brazil so much the most beautiful people very kind of people the most safest place to be these people are very unique different ❤❤
We can never get tired of watching......you are not alone Maya. You are a true son of the land (Mighty Africa 🌍 )!!!!
Keep up the good work 💪💪💪. Re-Watching from Malawi 🇲🇼 🇲🇼 🇲🇼
I also I did nnot expect to see a beautiful Brasil like what you are show us. Thanks Wode for this
Cant wait to do Brazil❤
This is truly the Brazil you do not see. The propaganda has been very strong. Caucasians typically have always shown the best part of their countries and show the worst part of other people who don’t look like them. And we have all bought into it. Thank you for showing us beautiful Brazil ❤
It’s heat warming to see that they have held on to their history. Beautiful episode, Maya.
What do you mean. Americans are always talking about the homeless people in their country
Its not propaganda. Brazil itself fails to show the world how amazing this country is.
@@davidk.d.7591 but they are very skilled to hide their failures under the superheroes stereotype.. they present themselves like they are the saviors of the world when in reality they are destroying democracies all over and are in the way of some countries getting autonomy. If the workers are starting to organize themselves, the USA is not shy to destroy a whole country
Thank you maya for the wonderful work that you are doing. You are a man of integrity and wisdom. You have a purpose and with God as your guide you are going to accomplish your goals. The great Jamaican singer Peter Tosh said, “ no matter where you come from,if you’re a black man, you’re an African “ .
I never knew Brazil is this developed.
Is more developed than some European countries.
I have been living in EU and I have to agree with you.
I'm so proud of you and all that you do! Thank you for Also for showing, the world, am a UA-camr from Africa but live here in Brasil, and I also make videos about Brazil. Brazil is a very Beautiful country. Thanks and God bless for the Inspiration you give to other Travel youtuber
Thanks for showing us a different side of Brazil. Watching you from Grenada in the Caribbean. Stay safe.

Brazil is absolutely beautiful. I never knew it is so developed...I will definitely have to visit. Thank you for reposting the video.❤
You are always welcome to Brazil 🇧🇷 anyway I was the translator
You need to check out Guyana. It’s right next door to Brazil; a beautiful Country that speaks English and the people are friendly. You can contact the Guyana Tourism Authority and they will give you a royal treatment and welcome to the Country- also take you around to different places.
Who else was watching the views changing every second. Wode Maya thanks for extending the narrative beyond Africa. The story of our time.
Re-watching the video again. It was visually amazing first time but even more so the second time.
Wode Maya, your video captures the hidden treasures of Brazil and reconnects them back to Africa!❤
Thanks Wodemaya for this wonderful education on a dark chapter of African history in the great nation of Brazil.
It is impressive that every video of foreigners visiting Brazil has Caribbean rhythms, cucarachas, as a musical background. This is imperialism! They level, out of ignorance, all the countries of Latin America, where each country has its own particularity, rhythms and totally different cultures!
I noticed the same thing...
Wow! This is an interesting perspective. I guess it could be from football and "samba". I run a global culture education programme where I showcase all cultures. What would you say its a more representative music of Brazil, please?
@@djpete2009In addition to Samba and Bossa Nova, which are really the most representative rhythms of Brazilian culture internationally, we have other more popular rhythms such as Brazilian Funk, Sertanejo Music (similar to Country Music), Forró, MPB, which are the rhythms that actually play the most on streaming and radios here in Brazil.
you should search for Catira, a caipira dance a bit similar to tap dance@@djpete2009
Yes Brazil is Samba, Bossa Nova not Latin Caribbean music.
People from Congo were brought to Angola and sold along with angolans
We share the same language as Angola, Portugues.
There are many Angolans working here in São Paulo that arrive either as refugee or migrants. Angolans are family.
@@larissamello374 refugees maybe in the 90's if there any refugees now they are not Angolan and your government should deport them. now as migrants yes there are just like there plenty of brazilians in Luanda living and working
I have really enjoyed Brazil through this video.
If you are still in South America and want to back home, there are two flights you can take from Brazil to Cape town or Johannesburg direct flight and cheap too.
You can even go through Ethiopia
We need flights from west Africa too.hope business men and women are listening (Peace Airlines NG)

I don't know. I stumbled to know you, but you are the best son Africa could ever have. You have globalised and united Africa and the world.
I love to see that you are expanding out of Africa to other nations where people of African descent reside. So awesome!!

Oooh woow. This is not the Brazil you see when you Google to learn anything about this beautiful country. Thanks for showing us this beautiful side of Brazil. I feel like visiting ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, because Google is a racist organisation.
Love what you're doing.

Amazing discovery of Brazil history to the world. I'm surprised and speechless. Thanks for showing us the Brazil history today 👍👏🤓
Great video bro. Watching it again. Brazil is so diverse. I cant wait to visit this country! 1 love bro✊🏾
Thank You🙏🏿
Hi, Wode! I'm Angolan and currently living in London. I learnt you've been to Angola and you relish the fact of acquiring more knowledge regarding African history. I root for you brother. Keep the momentum.
To see our people in all their glory in the West - another great one--you've given visibility and information on Brazil in a way we've never seen or heard.
You always got our support my brother love from somalia 🇸🇴
@WodeMaya this was excellent. The editing and filming on point! Seeing the museum depicting what our people who left the motherland was heart wrenching and I am so proud of them choosing not to shunn their African heritage. Look forward to seeing you explore every country that our people were taken to and what they feel about the continent, how they have been surviving all these centuries, and if they feel compelled to reconnect with Africa. Shout out to @travelogist for hosting you - I subscribed to his channel too. This was massive!
Thanks for this Maya! I LOVE their music!🎉🤩 I was dancing throughout your video! The soul of Africa lives in/through Samba!❤
The editing is superb 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
