I can clearly see your story telling style cementing in the next video. While you may not have conquered this hill on your bike... you conquered a mountain in story telling on your next video. You might have a career in this. I suggest watching USA olympic coverage from the 80's to current. (Mainly anticipated rivalries shown as small stories) Also watch a series on HBO called "hard Knocks" They have good journalism techniques you can learn from.
I just love the way You make pauses to say stuff like : " They opened floodgates", the countdown for the arm. You just have something in the voice or is it the New Zealand accent. Great work, keep it up.🙃

The thing about the big 5 is its too much for most and they shouldn't even be on it but do it for attention. Anyway, I'd love to bring my kx500 there for a go, the guy on his dad's yz, he has the right idea, he needs a 5 and he would blister that hill.

We used to ride hills like this in Cal. You were balls out almost all the way up or you never made it. Towards the end if some of the climbs it would get steep so you found a happy medium to keep front end just off the dirt. So much fun miss those hills.
Whatever gear you start in has to be a low enough ratio that you are not bogging the engine. Change sprockets or go down a gear, but your engine should never be falling on its face like that off dirt.
So let me ask you this what are the classes is at 2:50 two-stroke against 250 4-stroke? Or is it basically -a 125-2stroke against a 5002-stroke. ( The size difference or I should say performance difference between a 250 3 stroke and a 450 2 stroke just no comparison)

My old man was NZ Hillclimb champion once or twice back in the 60's. His ribbons all got old and fell apart but I have some of his trophies somewhere.

The smart carb LOSES power vs a Keihin or Lectron. Numerous dyno pulls & the Keihin & Mikuni are up all the way through the rpm.
Bailey’s bike was much more crisp and sharp than yours. Throw that smart carb in the garbage bin and hang a factory keihin back on. Sweet video! 👍🏽
