There is just something about Capitol reef that I love over other NPs - I am not sure exactly what it is but the colors and the lack of people make it pretty special
Real life is out there... Thanks Kraig you're my favorite filmmaker and you're awesome at your profession. Thanks for bringing us with you into your adventures.
We differ in our opinions about desert hiking as I feel as though there is something magical about hiking on sandstone. The desert has a special energy for me and is, in a way, a land frozen in time with relics and geological evidence so apparent. Regardless, there are definitely more interesting parts of Capitol Reef National Park to visit. Head to the southern part of the park (near Lake Powell, yes it spans that far North to South!) and there is a really beautiful and interesting hike to Halls Creek Narrows. I did this trip last spring and it was so much fun! Very remote, rugged, and a great opportunity for cross-country trekking as water sources allow.
Upper Cathedral Valley is a 70 mile round trip and it’s worth the effort. We planning another trip through it this month. Great area for drone video outside the park. And then there is the river ford which is fun. Looking forward to creating a great video from this adventure. Thanks for sharing your trip to Capitol Reek. Lynn Northrup
Wish I’d known your feelings about deserts before going to Big Bend. I was prepared to be underwhelmed when I went because of the video you did there, but I thought it was amazingly beautiful…in February! I feel like you should have researched this better. Navajo Knobs trail had the jaw dropping views on a cliff edge that you were looking for. I would also never suggest a lack of need for water on a desert hike. Even “short” ones. If something bad should happen, rescue could take a long long time in these under resourced remote places. Enjoy Denver but I bet you’ll feel differently about deserts once you live out west like I do. We don’t hunker down in winter!
I certainly realize that different people prefer different environments to hike in but personally I love desert hiking even though I live in Washington State, far from any great desert. I can’t stand the heat however so off-season hiking in places like Capital Reef is something I cherish. I think the two things that I like the most about desert hiking is the fact that the lack of vegetation often provides great long distance views and I personally see desert landscapes as natural sculptures so to me hiking in a place like Capital Reef is like hiking in an enormous sculpture garden, very beautiful indeed.
I'm from Utah. Capitol Reef has been a hidden gem for so long, it is my personal favorite of the "Big 5" in Utah! Happy to see this on your channel, although I just hope it doesn't get as crowded as Zion. Happy hiking! 😊
Ah, just finished watching. There are definitely more interesting hikes to do (and a lot not on the NP maps) in this area, but it is for the desert hiker for sure.
1st thing you do in Denver is buy 4x4 so you have more access to more remote areas. I guess I'll see around there, since my summer plan will bring me into Colorado for some hikes and peak bagging 👌✌️
Another wonderful video Kraig. Just saw the intro and it was stunning. It looks like such a great trail and adventure. Thank you so much for inspiring me. Would love to shoot a video there too one day. And congratulations on your engagement - Love and light and a long fulfilled life for you guys and Sasha as well. Can't wait to watch the full video this evening. Stay safe out there. Best wishes, Mario
your channel is such an inspiration to mine. solo hiking is a passion of mine. and i found it is so hard to capture hiking alone but your frames are perfect!! thank you!
This was great! You do the best hiking videos on You Tube. I feel encouraged to try more hikes because of you. Love how you let the mic pick up all the sounds nearby; from your shoes hitting the trails to the sounds of others nearby.
I just finished up at capitol reef yesterday and then saw this video! It was one of my favorites!!! Definitely want to go back with a bigger car to go off road for the dirt roads!
Hey Kraig! A follower from Israel here! Super excited to hear you're going to visit soon, and hope you'd be able to go hiking because there are many great places to see and this is pretty much the best time of the year to hike here! Also if you're in Tel Aviv and up for coffee let us know! :)
Just got back from a camping trip out here, can confirm you did not miss out on Fruita. Watched your videos leading up to my trip, so inspiring love your content!
Capitol Reef combines Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, and Zion. Not as remarkable as the other individual parks, because they specialize in something specific, but Capitol Reef is incredible. So many great hikes, canyons, arches, bridges, plus Cathedral Valley, and Bentonite Hills and Factory Butte are so close. Capitol Reef, canyons, desert, etc are amazing!
Been to glacier twice, Logan pass usually opens up end of June still lots of snow end of June. Best time to go is middle of July. August is way more tourists and higher chances of fires or smoke. Thanks for great content
The cathedral district with the temple of the sun and moon were the highlights of CF for me. You need a high clearance vehicle to get there but it’s worth it
I know from what he was saying after the video segment about how this wasn't his favorite place and it wasn't super exciting BUT I have very fond memories of going there and it is still very beautiful :) the lack of people for sure makes it very nice, also the town of Torrey was very cute. When I went, we did a drive through the park with this app guiding us and telling us history and stories about the area and I think that made it way more interesting.
I personally love desert hiking and Capitol Reef is a gem. The overall environment is just calm and quiet compared to Moab or other national parks. I know you said day hikes arent your thing, but for those less experienced or didn't grow up around outdoor activities I think you are higlighting accesible ways to be in nature and that is very important. So I hope you keep doing it. Also the restaurant you went to is so good!
Sitting in Torrey on our last night at Capitol Reef as I watch your video. You captured the extraordinary beauty of this special place so well. Am doing Cohab Canyon Trail before we leave for Colorado Natl Monument and if time, would love to go down Frying Pan for a bit after seeing your footage. Can't believe we missed you by a week. Edited to add: just listened to your commentary and was amazed you would choose this park to hike if you despise desert hiking and aren't impressed with its geological features. Seems like you were destined for disappointment..why choose to hike it then make a video complaining about it. Left a bad taste.
He's back! Love the videos man. There was definitely something missing from my life without some new Kraig Adams hiking videos. Thank you for sharing these adventures with us
Cathedral Valley campground is my favorite vehicle trip campground. The stars out there on a clear night are just incredible. Worth the drive out to it if you have a 4x4 vehicle. The Capitol Gorge Trail can take you to some natural tanks with tadpoles in them at other times of the year.
Cathedral Valley Loop was epic and totally worth the drive. Went in a Jeep Cherokee with some off road tires and super beautiful experience. Almost no one out there either. Passed another car maybe every 30 minutes.
Beautiful drone intro, my man. Nice change up without a music track for the hike. My favorite shot is at 0:24. Looking forward to the next two videos from that area.
My dream is for you to go hike around Cerro Gordo, California. Would love to see the amazing captures you get of the scenery there. Dream collab of my two favorite UA-cam channels.
Love your videos. Watched it from start to end. Sounds like you’ll be in Israel a week or two before me. My first scheduled trip there in November got cancelled the day before. Good luck if you make the move to Denver, at least you’ll be closer to great hiking areas.
Hi. Great video. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I’ve been very inspired to make similar videos myself. I’ve been recording on my hikings for years and now I start making my channel out of these.
Kraig---I know day hikes in the desert don't wow you, but this was beautiful. I have done Arches, Canyonlands, and Bears Ears but still have to do Bryce, Zion, and Capitol Reef. I have lived my whole life in the Northwest, but really like the Southwest. June in the Olympics? Might look to see how much snow is still there. I am doing Olympic Coast with Sierra Club in July. Looking forward to what you do next.
I can totally see you living in Colorado! ...but as a local New Yorker, I think it would be cool if you did a Adirondack group hike before you go with some subscribers who are working on their 46er challenge, like me :)
I was waiting for so long to watch new hiking videos of you. It's good one. But try to put hiking part longer than guiding and behind the scenes part in your videos.
Was just out in Utah for Bryce and Angels Landing! Beautiful land out there and would love to go back for more hiking. Must have just missed the chance encounter with Kraig 🤣
Kraig, you gotta take a trip out to Hawai'i. There's amazing 10 to 22+ mile hikes that'll blow your mind. We just did the Haleakala Crater Trail (12 miles) a few weeks ago on Maui, it was insanely awesome. Just keep in mind that our winters are our rainy seasons and during the summer, we're prone to tropical storms. Reach out if you're ever on O'ahu, you gotta a tour guide to the best hikes. Aloha
K. I’m a little offended about your opinion of Capitol Reef. Lol.😅 It’s my favorite NP. I LOVE the desert though... and winter camping & hiking. To each their own. But you did miss a ton of cool spots inside and outside of the park. Cathedral Valley is def a must see. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Definitely recommend checking out Glacier NP. I’ve been there twice and while you’re at it drive over the border to Waterton, Alberta, stay at the Prince of Wales hotel and try the Crypt Lake hike.
You should try Death hollow or Escalante, two of my favorite "off season" or desert hiking areas. I'm breed & born a mountain lover but appreciate a lot of what deserts & other eco-systems have to offer as well.
I appreciate your minimalistic style and have used it as inspiration for my own videos which are about the beautiful landscape I've shot while mountain biking. On this particular video of yours, I noticed that you only added sound for the intro. As a creator who tested videos with and without music in the background, it appears that more people like this style of video with music. Most people don't realize it but the music really sets the mood. In my opinion, I like your videos with music too. One last thing -- you mentioned that you flew the drone outside of the national park so there would be no issues. I keep reading that more and more creators are getting their videos demonetized for two reasons 1) even if you are not using the drone in a national park, you still need a commercial drone licenses in the USA to monetize any UA-cam video. 2) If you shoot any video in a national park, and you plan to monetize it, you need a commercial permit from the park to do so. Are you not worried about your videos being demonetized because of these two reasons?
I still carry my tent and backpack in the closet, but a while ago I picked up a travel trailer that's now my base camp. I was in the Fruita Campground in late February, and saw 15F was common.
I hiked the Navaho Knobs trail in 1994 and climbed the tallest Navaho sandstone pinnacle at the far end of the trail. Ten mile round trail with magnificent views South. I don't think many go that far past a well known Arch, (name escapes me). This was mid September, didn't meet another person.
There is just something about Capitol reef that I love over other NPs - I am not sure exactly what it is but the colors and the lack of people make it pretty special
totally agree
Glad others are thinking the same thing
for me it's canyonlands... particularly huge, no people, absolutely magical.
Real life is out there... Thanks Kraig you're my favorite filmmaker and you're awesome at your profession. Thanks for bringing us with you into your adventures.

Capitol Reef, one of my favorite national parks. There's something really special about that place. It's like a less-visited Zion.

In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks. Enjoyed watching your video 😍

Just moved to Denver a month ago and already loving it. Hiker’s paradise.
Amazing images. The footage was magnificent. Beautiful landscapes. 🏜️🏕️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸
Denver is beautiful. I really enjoy living in Colorado. Thank you for the wonderful videos. Looking forward to seeing the Isreal trip.
We LOVE Capitol Reef! Utah offers so much incredible opportunities!
Try the HIGHLINE TRAIL some summer in the Unitas Mountains here.
Love this park! Did a Sierra Club service trip there many years ago, when it was really uncrowded. Thanks for posting this.
Been touring the southern Utah NPs for the last 10 days, and Capitol Reef is my favorite. Small crowds, striking otherworldly beauty, and solitude.
Absolutely gorgeous out there. Thanks for bringing this to us. I always enjoy your videos, Craig.
I see you, Kraig. Matching the footstep sounds between shots. Very effective emersion technique.
Hi! Awesome video Kraig! First time seeing your channel. Looks like a great park to explore. Thank you!

I was just down here 2 weekends ago. It is absolutely beautiful.

I’m the same about Las Vegas, BUT I really appreciate its existence because of the cheap flights to that Tri state area.
Love watching your films
From England 🏴🙌🙌
Your videos are awesome! What is the name of the comet ☄️ visible in the first 2 minutes of the video?
Was so excited when I saw you had made a video! Amazing content as usual! I have been watching so much of your stuff lately. Thank you!!
Looks like a great park- thanks for sharing. We didn't have time to do that one last week, but will next time around.
Just got back from a camping trip out here, can confirm you did not miss out on Fruita. Watched your videos leading up to my trip, so inspiring love your content!
I always find it fascinating you are able to visit these places peacefully with no people (or not many) around. Solid planning.
Keep killing it!
Another amazing video, Kraig! Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Brazil!
I like your videos, this is a weekly meditation for me, thank you for your work! hello from Ukraine
great video as always Kraig. Please consider coming to Bolivia!! I recommend the Transcordillera Trekking

Do you think a Subaru Crosstrek (8.7" clearance) could make it?
@@ropersix I made it with my ‘19 Subaru Outback. Lots of loose sand areas though so be prepared
Watching this after having lunch with a cup of tea. Perfect!!
그것은 멋진 광경이다. 나는 그 비디오를 보는 것을 즐겼다. 좋은 영상이에요.

I frequently let your longer compilation vids play throughout the week as background vibes.
My fav hike channel on UA-cam. Thanks Kraig!
You shared some pretty good views on your hike. So enjoyed! 😍

Another awesome video man, love the drone shots and the audio of the footsteps you take on trail are well captured
OMG I was just there, ugh I wish I met you. That place is breath-taking.

Been to all the other national parks in Utah except Capitol Reef. Planning to head there soon!
Was just there! Such a beautiful place
Holy shit....a hiking video from Kraig. It's been a while. Welcome back.
What a landscape. Definitely on my to go list.
Great video and very inspiring! I cant wait till the weather is warmer so I can hike up here in Canada, without any snow :D
Beautiful work, as always! Definitely needed this today 🙂
anyone know the name of the music at the start of this video?
My dream is for you to go hike around Cerro Gordo, California. Would love to see the amazing captures you get of the scenery there. Dream collab of my two favorite UA-cam channels.
Finally! Utah! Thank you
Very glad to be here with you! Thanks for the trip! :0
amazing camera work man, really captured the place in its glory here
Beatiful Music
Amazingly beautiful Arizona😍😍 Love ur channel from Russia
Love your videos. Watched it from start to end. Sounds like you’ll be in Israel a week or two before me. My first scheduled trip there in November got cancelled the day before. Good luck if you make the move to Denver, at least you’ll be closer to great hiking areas.
I was just there a few weeks ago. Capitol Reef is probably favorite of the Mighty 5 next to Bryce Canyon and the most underrated.
I wish it didn't end so soon 😭😭 great job
Hi. Great video. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I’ve been very inspired to make similar videos myself. I’ve been recording on my hikings for years and now I start making my channel out of these.

You are the man go to amazing places 🙏
I enjoyed Red Sands when I stayed there. Was surprised to find something decent and "modern" in that area
Love your videos.. keep making them..
Always inspirational 🙏
I was waiting for so long to watch new hiking videos of you. It's good one. But try to put hiking part longer than guiding and behind the scenes part in your videos.
Was just out in Utah for Bryce and Angels Landing! Beautiful land out there and would love to go back for more hiking. Must have just missed the chance encounter with Kraig 🤣
Looking forward to seeing where you come in California.
Very beautifull places.
Sorry Kraig but...I'm glad to see a classic Kraig video again :D

I was just there a week ago! I did the Cassidy arch, grand wash, and Hickman bridge trail! Did you get pie and ice cream while you were there?

.. and the dispersed camping throughout that area is legendary
I always wait for your new upload. I would love to imitate your style.
This is awesome Kraig, been missing good videos from Utah, did you move to the internal mic on your camera?
I hiked the Navaho Knobs trail in 1994 and climbed the tallest Navaho sandstone pinnacle at the far end of the trail. Ten mile round trail with magnificent views South. I don't think many go that far past a well known Arch, (name escapes me). This was mid September, didn't meet another person.
5:12 though XXD
some high quality wholesome stuff right there!
Love these vids man!! Been a fan for awhile, keep ‘em comin!!
Capitol reef was my favorite park out of Utah’s national parks
