Lifecycle of a handmade project 😂😂 they forgot my most common stage: get bored of it and abandon for months, forgetting about it, then maybe rediscovering it later
I lost my most used Clover Amour hook a few months ago... looked everywhere then after a few days I figured I had accidentally thrown it out or something. I ordered a new one online and of course, as soon as it arrived I found the old one ( hiding in plain sight on my dining table... I know I looked there!). Anyway now I have two! I sometimes think things slip into another dimension for a day or two🙄!
That has to be it. The secret craft dimension that steals all our stuff but only temporarily lol. And I suppose, silver lining, at least you have a back-up hook now??
Yes! The different dimension thing OR: My husband passed away 2 years ago. This is gonna sound bad, but you really need to know this before I type it, MY HUSBAND HATED CROCHET. He thought it was a HUGE waste of time and money…until he wanted a blanket in his Dallas Cowboys team colors 🤨😏 I made him the blanket and he wanted another one, though he passed before picking his yarn and the color 😔. Prior to me making his blanket, he was horrible to me, so bad that I stopped crocheting for the first 10 years of our marriage (he passed before our 25th wedding anniversary). I just didn’t want to hear it anymore. Then in 2016 I decided SCREW WHAT HE THINKS! I picked up my craft and learned way more than I knew before. That’s when he wanted the blanket. When he passed away I was sad and truly missed him, I STILL MISS HIM, BUT DO NOT miss his bullying where my crochet was concerned. I spent $240 on new yarns I always wanted but he never allowed me to buy 2 weeks after his passing!💯 Anyway, the man told me that if he died before me, he would haunt me forever. NOW you have context for this part: There have been several times when I have put my hook into my bag only to come back and it NOT be in the bag. So I EMPTIED the bad, NO HOOK 🤷🏽♀️🤬. Yes I have a grandchild, but he only comes in to attempt to take my yarn or something else that he knows he shouldn’t take from me (he is 4 and stage 3 Autistic) but not my hooks because I gave him his own set 🤷🏽♀️. I will search and search and not find the hook. I will ask my daughter to help me and together we still can’t find it. So I get a replacement (I have full Furls sets) and just keep going. Like 4 days later, I find the hook…IN THE BAG WHERE I KNEW I HAD LEFT IT! 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫 Insanity! And it’s not just my hooks, it happens to my grandson’s binkies. We will search for them, never find them, then randomly my grandson has the Binkie we couldn’t find! I am CONVINCED my husband in ghost form, has been doing exactly as he said he would do, and is haunting me and the family🥹😅💯. He opens doors when there is no draft, he whispers in my ears and I am alone in my room with my dog, who also hears the whispers. He touches my arm or legs when I am sleeping. Yeah I just know he moves my hooks and my grandson’s binkies. 😑🤔

The meme about how I spend my money hit hard lmao, I'll be like "eh food is expensive I'll just drink water" but then when it comes to yarn I go insane lmao
I'm the same with the stitch markers, they are an absolute necessity for me, I don't have the attention span to count past twenty 🤣 Hope your recovery is going well, we still enjoy the videos even without the crochet 😊
I use the stitch markers like this as well, only I assign each color a number. Ex. I place a pink stitch maker and then I know I have worked 20 rows, yellow stitch marker is 10 rows and a dark blue one is 40.
I looove these memes! More plz. One weird thing I do.... Judge items I don't need but want compared to how much yarn I could purchase if I bought yarn instead.😂❤
Forewarning the fur yarn is a nightmare from the depths of nightmare island. I just made my son a spider and wound up just making a base from worsted acrylic and surface stitched the faux fur yarn onto it. I can not grasp how anyone can make anything usable from that awful no good, cant find the stitches amongst the soft fluff hellspawn yarn.
Lol, yeah just looking at it gives me bad vibes 😂. I think it'll be good to try for a one off challenge but I don't see myself wanting to use it beyond that.
My own furry rascal loves to 'help' while I'm working, and especially when I'm balling up yarn, but at least he's stopped chewing through it while I'm knitting. That doesn't stop him from making biscuits on the half finished blanket I'm working on while watching this video lol

I used to count stitches as I crochet, but now that I have a kid I count before or after the row and use markers as needed, so I can drop everything on a dime if he wakes up or starts crying. So the interruptions while counting does not bother me as much anymore
I loved the memes, such a fun video. I’d certainly watch more, and ones you made as well. And i think crocheting with a pirate hook sounds like an amazing video idea. Love your videos, always excited to see them pop up. Wishing you all the best and that you always win at yarn chicken :)
Losing time when crocheting is REAL. I’m making granny squares with my leftover yarn stash rn and even though it felt like just 1-2 hours had passed I somehow listened to two whole audio books 🙃
I usually use yarn scraps for stitch markers (helps me keep track of the drift in my amigurumi), but I don't ALWAYS use stitch markers at all. I also never use book marks. What can I say? I walk on the wild side. I laugh in the face of danger. Ha ha ha!
I used to hate weaving in the ends, but i don't mind it as much now that i have a decent yarn needle (when I first started crocheting many years ago I had one hook my mom let me use and yarn and no notions at all). So while I understand the Gollum reaction (that was a great impression, by the way!) it's not the worst thing in the world for me anymore. I do still hate sewing amigurumi. The main reason is because no matter how careful I am, it never comes out looking right. And I don't have the patience to undo sewing stitches, it's a huge pain compared to frogging crochet stitches! When I was pregnant last year I found the cutest dragon pattern, and I thought this would be the time I'd learn to love sewing because the assembly instructions were so detailed. But I made the mistake of sewing pieces on as I made them, which was apparently not the order in which I was supposed to sew them. Some parts had to go in the wrong spot and I had to make up my own pattern for the belly patch because it didn't fit by the time I got to it.
100% agree that that's another issue when it comes to sewing. It's amazing (and not in a good way lol) how one little mistake like placing pieces in the wrong spot, or sewing out of order can ruin hours of previous crochet work.
Idk why but a lot of my wips end up staying wips because of the sewing... most of the patterns I make are no-sew/low-sew because of sewing. And I enjoy sewing! I just. I don't even know why it's like having to switch gears in my head is Too Hard (it might be the ADHD)
'Switching gears' is a good way to put it and yeah, like you said, sometimes your brain is just like, "nah-uh not today." (......and then you proceed to forget about the project for the next few months to years lol).
I don't make stuffies, because I hate trying to sew on parts after the body and head been stuff and closed. So I decided make pieces first and sew them on while I making the body or head.
i crochet in bed most of the time and i can't even count the amount of times I've sat down hooks, scissors, st markers, needles, my entire notions box a few times, and immediately lost them, i usually end up finding them a few days later in the floor somewhere, or i was sitting on it.
Thank you for the laugh. That was fun going through the memes. On sewing, my thing with it is usually the fact that sewing could pull stuffing and I prefer making sure all my ends are not going to fall apart. So I usually make all parts and then the main piece last so everything gets sown onto it as I make it. It makes me feel like I have got all knots on the inside of the project. It doesn’t always happen like that but most times there is only one knot I am doing from the outside of the project.
2:50 yeah… I literally just got over this problem on the dress I’m working on. The pattern is the Juliet dress from the 1960s. I couldn’t figure out how they wanted the increase done… until I found a video of someone doing the pattern! 😂
I just stumbled across your page, so I'm not sure whether you've done this one yet, but while you can't crochet, maybe you could do a WIP video! Sort into finish, frog, or forget (cut it off the skein or de-stash the entire project to a friend)?
Crocheting with that furry yarn is the hell! You might as well be blindfolded. You cannot see your stitches and and could be sticking your hook in a bag of raw wool... I could not get a straight edge! But it was pretty... Good luck with it. I hope you can give it a go real soon! And I liked this video. I love to see your crochet-videos and - mainly for yourself - hope you will be able to do some work again, but I really liked this one as well
I got a good chuckle out of the memes you went over. Thank you for that!!! The sweater you're wearing-- what yarn did you use for it?? I absolutely LOVE your sweater!!! Do you have a pattern/tutorial for it!?? Thanks for another great video!!!
It was a neon rainbow variegated yarn I got from Spotlight years ago but unfortunately, they don't seem to make it anymore. I alternated between that and a plain black yarn each round to make the cardi and it's just a granny hexagon cardigan. I don't have a tutorial for it myself but there are plenty of great ones here on UA-cam.
Lucifurr took off with a small plushie i was making, I screamed no and chased him around the house and my son came out to see what the commotion was and cornered the cat under the bed to wrestle the yarn back for me. It's a family affair when it happens here lol
Great to see another fun video! Thanks so much!! I would like to go on record saying: I don't HATE sewing ... I HATE the tiny needle that makes my hand cramp and go knub when trying to push it thru the extremely tight little amigurumi stitches in my project. Sewing does take time but it really isn't that bad.
I dislike sewing my part because I have to concentrated on it and only look at it. I can't watch a show or read for this part 😿 I do the same as you for the longer chains :)
What a riot! Looking forward to the next one. I'm also unable to crochet due to a shoulder bursitis. I live in Czechia, & recently got a job that involves a lot of driving. I never want to touch a gearstick again!
I agree that those memes are rude. Some of them can work for knit or crochet or any projects, not everyone matches the memes. Your videos and background look very cool and fun to watch. 😎
This was my first video from your channel and I really enjoyed the content and related to most things you said, especially about the sowing. I quite enjoy the sowing in general, but when I have finished crocheting a project I just wanna be done with it xD So therefore in my opinion it's just the last extra part to make it seem finished xD
I like the idea of you doing a different video on stuff like this it was fun !! Good to see you!! Glad you are doing as well as you can , have to use stitch markers!! See you soon sweetie ,
Look depending on skill level and interest, you can justify yarn as a clothing expense. Gollum weave in the ends is me. The last finished project I saved all of the weaving in the ends for the end. It was awful. Current WIP, I'm weaving in as I go, and it doesn't bother me. Granted, the last one was an amigurumi that I added color changes to and now I'm making a vest using multiple skeins of the same color way, so there are different magnitudes of weaving ends in. I agree with impatience making sewing suck. Last project I wanted to finish assembly in one night so I could bring a new project to the library knit/crochet get together. It was a lot. Granted, this was also my third time doing something that included wire (and was my phoenix of a bunch of color changes).
So glad you said that about stitch markers! ❤ My sister hardly uses them, and she laughs at all the stitch markers I use, but I NEED them, because I’m such an airhead. 😅
15:37 I hate sewing on the parts of the crochet because I get so nervous that I’ll sew it on in the wrong place and it’s so hard to undo sewing after you’ve done it. It’s definitely one of the more stressful things to do when making amigurumi
I think I dont like sewing because I never learned how to do it properly. When I started with crochet I watched tutorials but then I went to make projects and all the patterns no matter if written or filmed just tell you to sew on and don't tell you how. So I actually don't know how to do it and I have to think about it every time I need to sew something. Thinking is costing me brain energy and I don't really have that so I feel really tired after sewing and the results are at best mediocre
Trying to chime in to why do I hate sewing on amigurumi parts: Firstly, I usually use chenille yarn, which shreads like crazy when you try to sew with it, and secondly I feel like it won't hold on very well in the hands of a child for example. Ok, I could use other yarn to sew it on, I'm now learning how to do that, unfortunately though it's not going very well, I can see the other yarn popig through here and there. It might be a matter of time until I figure it out, but for me right now it's quicker and more secure if I just crochet them on.
So happy to see you. Sorry your in a funk! I know that feeling all too well. Don't worry about making videos for us. You need to take care of your health (mental and physical).
I have LITERALLY frogged an entire WIP because I saw something wrong back at the beginning of starting. Not only did I do it once but I frogged it 6 times….and realized I WASN’T WRONG, THE PATTERN WAS🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️😩🤣
One time I put my main hook in my sock bc I didn't have enough hands and mouths. I got distracted and when I went back to crochet, I couldn't find my hook anywhere. Hours past and when dinner came, I had given up. I sat with my legs on the chair (it's comfortable okay) and felt something poking me. It was my crochet hook. I surprisingly haven't lost my hook since
What about reacting to the crochet Reddit stories? I’ve seen another creator doing this xx take care lovely your health is the most important we will still be here xx
I have dozens of nearly finished projects that ended up in the trash after a few years because I finally got to the sewing together stage. ='( Knit/crocheting follows the strict path of the yarn below it- it's on a guideline almost the entire time. You follow the steps decently and don't majorly miscalculate something and the project will turn out. Sewing has no signpost for where exactly to insert the needle to succeed, and it's stressful to freehand when a single centimeter too far requires undoing that tedious work. It's a problem for me. x/
I don't mind sewing, however making a mistake and sewing something on wrong makes me super anxious. Also, all the pieces are done, so the project is essentially done and i can start another one right? lol ETA: I would watch a video of you making memes or another iteration of this vid. like a part 2.
start of the video im guessing counting stitches - seeing you have one too many so adding a cheeky decrease…then realising rows later you counted wrong so adding an increase… 🤣😭
Hey, I don't actually hate the sewing itself, but I find placing the parts correctly very hard, so I guess it is a bit impatience and the knowledge that after all this work, I can still screw it up... Very nice sweater btw.
We care more about you than the crochet

The Memes are awesome- a great fill in until you can safely crochet again- and making your own too 🤩💜
Lucifurr took off with a small plushie i was making, I screamed no and chased him around the house and my son came out to see what the commotion was and cornered the cat under the bed to wrestle the yarn back for me. It's a family affair when it happens here lol
My son always says I’ve fallen into the black hole of art when I lose track of time.
Loved it, another please!
Those were hilarious. Hoping for a Part 2
So much of this applies to knitting as well 😂
I dislike sewing my part because I have to concentrated on it and only look at it. I can't watch a show or read for this part 😿
I do the same as you for the longer chains :)
What a riot! Looking forward to the next one. I'm also unable to crochet due to a shoulder bursitis. I live in Czechia, & recently got a job that involves a lot of driving. I never want to touch a gearstick again!
Cheers and I'm wishing you a speedy recovery!
@@SkeinSpider You too! 💙
In the black part of the cycle instead of despair its all my rage of being interrupted over and over and the "Im ALMOST DONE JUST ONE MORE ROW PLZ"
I agree that those memes are rude. Some of them can work for knit or crochet or any projects, not everyone matches the memes. Your videos and background look very cool and fun to watch. 😎
This was my first video from your channel and I really enjoyed the content and related to most things you said, especially about the sowing. I quite enjoy the sowing in general, but when I have finished crocheting a project I just wanna be done with it xD
So therefore in my opinion it's just the last extra part to make it seem finished xD
God I love you Spotlight clearance yarn bin
100% 😂😂
My bet? They’re gonna mention some combination of yarn stashing/destashing, yarn barf, pattern woes, counting, mistakes and fixes.
My sister hardly uses them, and she laughs at all the stitch markers I use, but I NEED them, because I’m such an airhead. 😅
this was fun! do another one!
I love this video. You are true joy!!💖💙🧶🧶🧶
Omg I loved this video, memes that i can actually relate too
I wanted to do the 6 day star blanket. My brain stuggled and i ended up cutting in half with rage 😂
15:37 I hate sewing on the parts of the crochet because I get so nervous that I’ll sew it on in the wrong place and it’s so hard to undo sewing after you’ve done it. It’s definitely one of the more stressful things to do when making amigurumi
I'd love to see you try to crochet with a pirate hook!
❤❤❤❤😂 this was absolutely enjoyable
I'm surprised there weren't more memes based on a play of words.. Like 'Wips/whips" or 'hook ups/hookers' and nothing about frogging..
I am a first time viewer. Absolutely loved your video. ❤ Hope you are able to crochet again soon. I’m looking forward to seeing more. 😃
Hello and welcome! Thank you for your kind words of encouragement as well 💙
I think I dont like sewing because I never learned how to do it properly.
For me, I hate sewing together everything at the end because I always manage to get things crooked 🤣🤣
I liked all the memes.
"no, that's not discord, that's minecraft" iconic
I have minecraft next to discord and pinterest on my samsung tablet lol
i've learned how to not use stitch markers 11:04 i just count my stitches as i go to keep track 😜
Lol, oh how I wish it was that simple 😂😂
love some good memes so much fun!!!!
I have LITERALLY frogged an entire WIP because I saw something wrong back at the beginning of starting. Not only did I do it once but I frogged it 6 times….and realized I WASN’T WRONG, THE PATTERN WAS🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️😩🤣
I am currently trying to knock out a few of my wips so that my project bag pile can be put away :D
very much enjoyed this vid
Yarn sales are definitely my weakness
One time I put my main hook in my sock bc I didn't have enough hands and mouths. I got distracted and when I went back to crochet, I couldn't find my hook anywhere. Hours past and when dinner came, I had given up. I sat with my legs on the chair (it's comfortable okay) and felt something poking me. It was my crochet hook. I surprisingly haven't lost my hook since
obsessed with your eye color
I had a lovely time.
What about reacting to the crochet Reddit stories? I’ve seen another creator doing this xx take care lovely your health is the most important we will still be here xx
The interruption while counting is so true I get a little mad the 6 th time I have to count to 56
theres a guy under the name club crochet who explains very well how to recognise each round or row, so you dont need stitch markers
You don’t need a stitch counter if you don’t count in the first place. 😂😅
😂😂😂😂
Weaving in lose ends
I don’t have three projects worth of ends to weave in…I have no idea what you’re talking about 😅
ive seem to have forgotten how to count today. so not knowing how to count
Love the memes!
I have dozens of nearly finished projects that ended up in the trash after a few years because I finally got to the sewing together stage. ='(
Knit/crocheting follows the strict path of the yarn below it- it's on a guideline almost the entire time.
Also, all the pieces are done, so the project is essentially done and i can start another one right? lol
ETA: I would watch a video of you making memes or another iteration of this vid. like a part 2.
start of the video im guessing counting stitches - seeing you have one too many so adding a cheeky decrease…then realising rows later you counted wrong so adding an increase… 🤣😭
Me watching this while making a giant pumpkin to sell for $50 that no one will ever buy:
Hey, I don't actually hate the sewing itself, but I find placing the parts correctly very hard, so I guess it is a bit impatience and the knowledge that after all this work, I can still screw it up...
Very nice sweater btw.
It was fun
Nearly finish the item and be 4 cm to short of yarn
