London Tube Piccadilly Line On Board Announcements - All Routes and Rare Announcements in One Video
Welcome to Yata-Tetsu's Station & Train Announcements Channel from Japan!
London Tube’s announcements on the District Line service from Tower Hill to Wimbledon, recorded on S Stock trains.
I confirmed there are at least four versions on S Stock’s announcements as follows:
Version 1) The arrival announcement says ‘This is xxx’ followed by ‘The next station is xxx. This is a xxx line train to xxx’. (next station first, train destination later.) No interchange announcements regarding Elizabeth line.
Version 2) The arrival announcement says ‘This is xxx’ followed by ‘This is a xxx line train to xxx. The next station is xxx’ (train destination first, next station later), but the Passenger Information System (PIS) hasn’t yet been updated after Elizabeth line opens and still says ‘TfL Rail’.
Version 3) The arrival announcement says ‘This is xxx’ followed by ‘This is a xxx line train to xxx. The next station is xxx’ (train destination first, next station later) and the PIS has already been updated after Elizabeth line opens. There are some rolling stocks which have been adopted to this version but still says ‘TfL Rail’ at Ealing Bdwy, Paddington and Liverpool Street and says ‘Elizabeth line’ only at Whitechapel, Moorgate and Farringdon.
Version 4) The arrival announcement doesn’t mention the station where the train is, and only gives the train’s destination and next station. This version has appeared after the Elizabeth line extension and being used on very few stocks only.
Version 2, 3 and 4 announcements have an error on ‘Wimbledon’ announcement and CANNOT produce correct messages on Wimbledon bound train; any sentences containing the fragment of ‘Wimbledon’ will be cancelled. However, once destination is changed, all Wimbledon announcements work properly; this means the driver needs to reset the destination to give passengers correct messages on Wimbledon bound train.
In this video, I mixed Versions 1 and 3 announcements. Version 3 includes a destination alteration announcement at Tower Hill, so ‘Wimbledon’ is read throughout the journey. This means arrival announcements at some stations say the station names first, and at other stations the train’s destination first. And the announcement upon arrival at Wimbledon also has a difference; Version 1 says ‘London Tramlink’ whereas Version 3 calls it ‘London Trams’.
Some service update announcements including Piccadilly line South Kensington station closure are recorded as well.
