One look and the car is just brimming with character. Hats off to Suzuki. There's a sense of toughness that comes alongside it's adorable image. Stylish, practical interior and the color combo in the video is fantastic. Great thing with this car is it's actually a capable 4WD which is a rarity at that size segment. Another top review Thomas.

Another huge pro is that the engine is a clean multipoint injection engine and passes EU 6c and EU 6d easily which most cars don't. This is extremely important for the future, for new models EU 6c is already required by law but most cars were introduced before and have extremely harmful emissions and are far off from eu 6c and 6d.
Also for the same amount of money other manufacurers cars are much weaker, heavier, slower and thirstier, if you compare cars with the same price the models from Suzuki are stronger, quicker and more efficient, thanks to their low weight and the 1.2l 4-cylinder engine. The official numbers from Suzuki seem to be underrated, in a test from Auto Motor Sport the Swift with the same 1.2 90 hp engine did 0-100 km/h in 10,5 seconds.

I saw (and sat) in this car at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show and I have to say I really liked it. It is very distinctive and the retro design inspired from the old Suzuki 'Whizzkid' make this a cool car IMO. It's interesting under the bonnet too with AWD and hybrid powertrain options. It's my new favourite car in the A - segment.
I am not in need of a new car right now, but if I was, then I would certainly put this one on my short list. Never expected that before seeing this review.

The Maruti has come a long way. Having lived in India in the 90's, that ultimate matchbox car was everywhere. This is a nice upgrade, even if I don't quite like the center console.
About the only review of this vehicle out of the seeming hundreds that is worth watching. Very good job indeed.

I've owned the Ignis GLX (Australia) for 2 months. The ride, handling and performance are all very good. It doesn't feel quirky or funny to drive at all. In fact it's very poised and planted and feels like a car twice its size (in terms of stability, drive assurance and general road competence). The little 1.2 motor is spirited and the CVT give plenty of 'off the line' 'go' and responds very well to all driving conditions. Sometimes the CVT takes a little while to adjust but not often (this occurs when cruising at constant speed and sudden acceleration is required). The SUV seating height gives a feeling of safety. The seating height is actually higher than many SUV's such as the Honda HR-V, CR-V and others - very commanding feeling in a car of such small external dimensions. It really is a ripper and worth test driving. Thank you Thomas.

This is such a cool car exterior wise. Interior not so amazing but I still love it for how different it is. But it’s still nice looking and you can use the phone mirroring so that’s all you need.

It's sad that in India this car is not selling well. Rarer than even GLS and other such luxury cars.

for this kind of car is quick, 0-100 (gps) in 10.9 seconds and even good fuel economy, the engine is very smooth, the ground clearance is not bad and in this segment only this one and fiat panda are available the 4wd
the weirdest thing are the glossy plastic of the interiors... a mate surface is a lot better

Very nice and informative review. I bought the lower trim Indonesian version, the GL six months ago. And it really worth from value for money point of view. It is not the best car, but if you want simplicity and practicality without sacrifying safety, i think this can be the alternatives. It is really fuel saver, but the suspension need a little bit improvement to make more comfortable. Good review Thomas, and I will watch your next video... :)

Got one of these a week ago and the best part is that it's already doing 16.1 km/l. Quite unexpected since our Swift does 14.6 average.

Good one. I've had mine about 5 months (Australia) and I couldn't be happier. Plenty of go in the engine and refined ride and cabin experience with excellent tech. Ride height is brilliant - it's a beauty!

i have bought my maruti suzuki ignis delta amt (automated manual transmission) we can drive it as automatic or manual both transmission.nice to have bought a car manufactured and sold in multiple countries

Interesting city car. The seats look out of place compared to funkiness of rest of interior! There are design hints from the SC100 from the 80s which was an awesome little coupe Suzuki.

Thank you Thomas for great video. Very good driving part looking forward through windscreen. Amazing interior space for a small affordable handy car, especially in the back seats. Nice to be different from the majority of small cars. An alternative to the Fiat Panda 4x4, or the Suzuki Jimny 4x4. There is an automatic available but only in 2WD! Many thanks.

Perfect first car / beater ?
I bought a Swift with basically the same engine (1.2 l, 94 HP) 4 years ago and it is an excellent, reliable little car. So I believe that Ignis would not disappoint either. The only Thing is that I wouldn't choose this engine with allgrip option. It loves to rev until the limit, and it is quite fun when you get used to it, but it don't have enough torque in the low rev range for an off-roader, so allgrip is just slowing it down. All.grip would work much better with Turbo petrol or diesel engine.
The Swiss love the Subaru 4wd and they are not diesel! Consider the Suzuki to ride on snowy roads or in rainy weather and not off-road. Yours truly. Patrick

i had owned ignis for 2 years with AGS transmission in indonesia....manual gear with device mimic automatic transmission. 17 km/ liter petrol in combination road.

@@ds.888 yes so simpel and cheap maintanance reguler servis in indonesia, half of toyota city car Agya in indonesia. Reliabel for engine know 60.000 km for two years because i work in diffrent town, 40 km for a day. For the transmition its like motorcycle Honda Supra, good acceleration for stop and go.

Do the doors rattle when you drive it over poor roads? In my VW Up they do.
No, but the passenger seat belt buckle might rattle against the door lining - put some padding on the belt buckle or where it vibrates on the interior door panel.

I did a test drive last week for automatic 2017 Select model. I am upgrading from waganR and I felt a lag and much noise when I put gas pedal.
I love the car look and height which is important for me as I have knee issue.
Is it me or automatic has issue of lag???

Was the auto you test drove a CVT? I have owned the CVT auto for a couple of years (Australia). The Ignis, like all new vehicles, uses 'drive by wire' technology rather than a throttle cable. This causes a lag because it is programmed at the factory. You can add a potentiometer device between the accelerator pedal and the electronic fuel inlet system which allows the accelerator pedal to be dialed to the right feel for your driving style - it can bring the power on quicker or slower or more economically - fully configurable and 2-minute DIY install. I installed the 'iDrive by iDrive Australia' but others are on the market.
