Nailed it! So beautiful to hear it on the exact unit it was done on originally. The details really make a difference, the mixer saturation, the noise modulation, the glide. Perfect.
What a luxury it is to watch this. I’m thoroughly enjoying these Plantasia videos, especially knowing that it was made with that very Moog. I think it was about a year ago all the stars aligned in the YT algorithms and your channel popped up, it was every thing I was looking for and more! Thank you for posting really interesting content.
The perfect sound to teach through a quick UA-cam video! A pretty straightforward patch to help demystify the wall of electronics in front of you. This was a sound I made when I got my first synthesizer, the Korg Minilogue. I originally heard it from Tomita's music and wanted to replicate it. I got pretty darn close too, but the characteristics of the Moog filter are important.
Your tutorials/videos are priceless. This whistle sound setup is close to original SH-101 sample whistle sound #29. Although the 101 patch uses only the filter and no oscillator. I'm trying to recreate your sounds on my Behringer MS-1 and PRO-800 as close as possible.
Thanks for sharing this!! I cannot wait to try this with the Moog Model 15 modular app on iOS!!! It's such a beautiful monstrous synth that ill never afford, but the Moog app is so great! Probably worth mentioning to viewers, maybe? Especially since these are so expensive and hard to find.
Liked this by about five seconds in :) Noise modulation of pitch is an underrated trick, I remember the Little Phatty didn't have noise as an audio source, only modulation - dial it in right and it's an interesting flavour.
Absolutely loving all of these recent videos on this synth and Mort! Excellent work on the tune too! Thanks! Just played my Black Mass: Lucifer album a couple of weeks ago. That synth couldn't be in a better place!
Love this so much. So excited to see whatever you’re going to do with this synth! You are the perfect person to own this gem. Thank you for what you share with us.
Very nice! I wouldn’t have thought to add the subtle modulation from the white noise directly to the osc driver… I would have probably mixed it in parallel with the osc, both going into the filter. I learned a new trick!
Thank you very much for the explanation. Don't have a iiic but I'll give it a shot with the 2600. Would you mind explaining how you sequence the, well, sequence bit? Specifically how keep it in scale when transposing up or down. I take it quantizers weren't invented back then, certainly not ones that could keep it in scale!
Thank you for this fantastic video ! Any chance to have a video about the 960 sequencer explaining how did you write this sequence ?? Thank you Anthony
Love love love this! Super nerd question. If Mort originally bought the system in 1969, did it come with 901 Oscillators? The later replace them 921s? Thanks for the details!
Hi Tony! The 904a´s frequency range knob doesn´t set the CV input range, it actually sets the cutoff knob range: 1) 1Hz to 5kHz 2) 4Hz to 20kHz 3) 16Hz to 80 (!!!) kHz The ranges are two octaves apart between them.
Awesome instrument! Great video! I think you forgot to mention the waveform you choose for vibrato, it sound like a triangle wave to my ears (instead of the more obvious choice, a sine wave) is that true? Congrats!!! 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Great content as usual but why is the keyboard playing at a different key from standard? Are you tuning at A=415? Again thanks for the great content and excellent step by step instructions! Someday I will have a modular synth of sorts 🙂
Thank you for the video! That's what I meant in one of my last comments: that this synth belonged to the keyboarder of Plantasia gives it a real history. Amazing! Another question: Does a Moog Modular need a lot of care (adjusting, repair) ?
Run the LFO into an amp first and modulate the amp with an EG to shape its amount. I also with that Moog had included attenuators on all audio signal outs such as the noise module. It would have made for simpler patching while not having to use so many modules. But hey, 1968.
👍Anthony, a genuine whistle blower! 13:27 "I don't know how many of you are familiar with a Moog modular" 😁 Hu... Well... Please, rise your fingers, just to know 😁
Very nice. The Arturia Modular V is a great VST to use if you want to patch this up and can't get your hands on a genuine Moog Modular. Thanks Anthony.
My Pro 3 can't thin out the noise, so it can't sound right, but I can use and external noise source. Will have to play with things and see what I can get. While te Pro 3 has 3 different filters, they can't all operate all at once.
Damn… Even the Enterprise is easier to handle flying through the universe… this is rocket science man. No Wonder the Model d was such a success haha. Love your content btw dont ever stop with deep Diving !
I'm sure you gave enough topics to go on about but .... I got a wah pedal, (very adjustable dulop Dimebag Cry Baby from Hell 🤟💜) and it seems that wah pedals are a foot moved filter with a resonance bump. interested if thats right, might fit in a video about filter ADSR and resonance and stuff No worries though, mostly typing to feed yt robo overlords 🤖
Geez, we all know by now it’s the Plantasia Moog by now after all these takes. You seem obsessed by your new purchase. Isn’t it time to actually demonstrate its sound capabilities and let us hear all of it and also its sequencer . All of us, don’t have the same reputation as a pop hit successful musician you were so nobody offers us to buy these great relics of the past. So yeah, stop the self adulation of owning it and please demonstrate it by jamming with it.
Nailed it! So beautiful to hear it on the exact unit it was done on originally.

Hope to hear the breakdown of the brass sound that comes after that.
Thanks Anthony. Love the content!
Similar to Tomitas sound?

Yet another great video Anthony! And congratulations for being part of the new Minimoog book! What a great piece of amassed knowledge
Just lovely. Really looking forward to more Plantasia Videos. :)

Can’t wait for you to ‘blow the whistle’ on this one 👍
Keep the Moog Content coming! Exciting to see and hear!
Love your videos, and the moog is sooo beautiful! ❤

Encore! I love seeing/hearing this synth in action.
So much to learn from each video. You really do like your saturation and expression 😀
Another great video!
I love plants and people who make music for them!
I've listened to this album so many times I never thought I'd actually see the ACTUAL synthesizer it was recorded on!!😲🤯🤯🤯♥️🔥
Love these sound design videos. I get a lot out of them :)
Thanks for the learning,
Thank you so much again for your time, and for sharing free to us so much knowledge, and love for music!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Love this so much. So excited to see whatever you’re going to do with this synth! You are the perfect person to own this gem. Thank you for what you share with us.
Amazing vid! Thank you for sharing your historic gear and talent!
Wow - I never knew the IIIc had so much (or any) signal normalization. Very cool!
Awesome video anthony

Amazing thank you for sharing.❤
It has that Theromone kind of feel to the sound.
Btw thanks to Dante keeping the conversation going and holding down the forte ✌️😊👍
Beautiful !
Funny to think that this was played on this back in the day 😮
Love this video series! Learning a lot and applying to my 5U modular. Thanks.

The 'cable' around your neck looks like an accessory😂😂 and is cool!!!!!!!😎😎
Cute sounds ❤
Allready smashed the button!
It's kind of like whipping out Eddie Van Halen's Beat It guitar and rig start hammering of licks. Well played, sir... well played.
awesome video!!
Some doctors where their Stethoscope around their necks... Some doctors where their patch cords around their necks
Awesome instrument! Great video! I think you forgot to mention the waveform you choose for vibrato, it sound like a triangle wave to my ears (instead of the more obvious choice, a sine wave) is that true?

I want to see how you program the huge brass patch that comes in after the whistle!
Thank you for the video! That's what I meant in one of my last comments: that this synth belonged to the keyboarder of Plantasia gives it a real history. Amazing!

I still have that album on vinyl with the mattress sticker on it! 🪴🌿🌱

Magical!
shoutout the plant in the corner jamming
Can these sounds be replicated on the Arturia Moog Modular V software?
👍Anthony, a genuine whistle blower!
13:27 "I don't know how many of you are familiar with a Moog modular" 😁 Hu... Well... Please, rise your fingers, just to know 😁
Mort Garson's owned moog modular??!...my oh my....
More Modular Moog Mort Music Mr. Marinelli. 🎵👏
Very nice. The Arturia Modular V is a great VST to use if you want to patch this up and can't get your hands on a genuine Moog Modular. Thanks Anthony.
Génial👌☺️👍
Reminds me a bit of the In Search Of theme...
Is that same whistle sound used in songs by ISO Tomita as well?

So it looks like there’s no pitch wheel like a mini Moog, how do you set that or use it during a live performance? Thx Anthony
How were the vibrato and portamento patched? Are those built into the keyboard controller?
So where does the vibrato come from? Didn’t catch that part. Sounds like a 5hz or so sine..?
nice
Just done the exact same sound on my 2600 clone
Love the white tape🤪
Magic😍💖😍🐶🐶
Holy Moly I thought that was a real whistle haha
AH YES ! 🥳
Michael
Struggling to reproduce on Serum. The oscillator is so rich.

Iconic tune, made by an iconic composer, on an iconic instrument and explained by an iconic composer/performer. We appreciate you Anthony!!
It’s always fun to “whistle” while at work 😉
Very theremin-y.
