Just finished hitting chest. The guillotine press is the best chest workout and my favorite after watching you and Charles. Thank you guys so much 🙏 much love from New Zealand
@@earlcoles5215 i'm guessing the guillotine press focus more in the upper chest itself more than the regular incline chest which focuses both on the upper and lower chest (a bit)
@@earlcoles5215im assuming their logic is that due to the bar being in a position thats higher than the usual incline press, It activates the upper chest more. Ngl I wouldnt risk it, the incline is safer ofc but also You devolve your whole chest with your upper chest being primary. The guillotine one looks like suicide 💀
This guillotine press feels like it’s a rotator cuff killer because of the elbow position. Sometime ago I decided to try it using dumbbells, after some weeks my right shoulder was so fucked I couldn’t lateral raise 3lbs dumbbells anymore. Probably the solution is to just load up less weight than you can handle and do slow and controlled reps, but I don’t know if I will risk it again.
Troy, your wife's got your upper chest beat! Hey mine too 🤣. Great content always man. The two exercises that boosted my upper chest and gave me that squared off look are 20 degree incline dumbbell press (John Meadows special) and the Hammer Strength incline single arm cross press which targets pec adduction. Those two using intense TUT sets is really showing now.

Huge fan of your videos especially involving the arms and chest. Your behind the scenes workouts with Charles Glass and individual workouts are informative and motivating. Please keep up the solid work. - Swole Bro in Training from SD
Those Charles Glass push ups are freaking hard. I can max the Army PT test for push ups for a 27 year old with 40 seconds to spare, 72 push ups in 80 seconds. First thing i did when I got home… thinking I could probably knock out forty or fifty. Nope. I could barely do twenty. And wow am I feeling it in my upper chest and triceps. Awesome pump after only three sets of twenty. Thanks for the suggestion.
I vote for a “why your arms suck” video. I’m going to add that particular guillotine bench press. It’s different than how I was taught years ago. I was taught to lie flat with my feet on the bench, knees bent. I didn’t get much out of that move back then, but I’m excited to try the technique you demonstrated here. Speaking of Jeff C… what do you think of the dumbbell pull over for chest activation? I’ve never gotten much out of it, either for chest or back.
Did the incline guillotine bench press last night. I did about 70% of my flat bench five rep max, for 12 reps with 90 second rests, three sets. I felt it in my anterior delts, but this morning my upper chest is a little sore. Looking forward to keeping this in my routine and perfecting the lift. Thanks. Edit. Actually 10 reps and I needed assistance for the last two reps in each set.
Thanks Troy I’ll try that push-up challenge and just to let you know I started doing the guillotine incline press in my chest workouts adding four sets to my workouts three times a week for the last three weeks. I plan on using it more and more thanks again Nate
I almost did these exercises watched your previous video for chest and most of the exercises were awesome as i have a home gym limited access as i cant do cable crox
Charles glass is the man ! So many clowns on UA-cam telling you what works and what doesn’t and they are 20. I like this dudes approach to describing things and saying “do what works for you “ not “don’t ever do this this is the only way !”
So i’m 5’9 220. Benching 315+ squatting 400+(got X-rays and MRI’s on my left knee due to a bad hyper extension.) and while I’m lifting decent numbers for a semi new lifter, I’m only doing upper and lower chest days now. Day1 Upper, day 2 Lower, day 3 Alternate. And I’ve been noticing some very good chest development
Great content man! Never tried the guillotine before but definitely the low to high cables is the exercise in which I feel the biggest activation of the upper chest. I try not to go for it as a mere end-of-workout exercise.

I always put the bench on 30 degree to try to hit the upper chest, and very often I feel like it didn't hit it. I will try your advice and put the bench 40-45 degrees instead. I train with dumbbells and Smith machine. Thanks for the video.
Elbow joints seem to be under alot of stress with the guillotine press, but granted you're not going to go heavy but I'm wondering how over the long term does this affect the elbow joints and tendon. I'm curious about your thoughts on this?
Since Troy didn't answer you, I will. He pretends to wonder why Jeff Cavaliere doesn't promote these. Lots of internal rotation in the shoulders when you bench like that and you significantly increase the risk of shoulder/rotator cuff issues. Jeff's content is catered to those looking to lift the long game, hence why he doesn't suggest this lift. The fact that Troy tries to narrowly throw science at you from one direction and doesn't warn his viewers about the risk is a big red flag to me. I'd suggest Cavaliere or Jeff Nippard if you plan to lift past your late 30's.
I use to do this but not anymore. My ac joints are all damaged and developed arthritis .So I do floor press only nowadays.I feel the guillotine press is not good for your shoulder
I've never thought benching was a pec developer. And, I feel bad for those who still think that it is. Genetics play a big part, but incline close grip dumbbell presses work for me, and low to high strength band flys. All the best!
Liked the upper chest video. Could you please add a similar leg video. My legs, although has definition, are not proportional to my larger upper body. They just don’t seem to get larger.
Watch my new video on What I do EVERY workout go build muscle faster - ua-cam.com/video/PEV3-4Wn0pk/v-deo.html
I have question-can't you just put tension between the origin and insertion of the muscle you want to work, and call it a day once it fails?
Flat bench and for that matter wide pullup hurt my shoulders but incline no problem
Your spotter in this vid had a well developed chest. 💯😎
