He only did the movie because his son was a big fan of street fighter. He took the role and did all his actions despite suffering from late stage cancer just for his son.
To me, M. Bison was the first video game boss character that I was fascinated by because I didn't exactly know "what made him tick." He was always such a mystery to figure out from all aspects from his origin and backstory to his ambition and overall purpose; he also had a badass costume. But as a kid, I always found myself wondering "what exactly is this guy."🤔 Both 1994 SF2 movies, the anime and live action version, provided some details about his ambition but I always wanted to know how he was birthed.
@Onikiller1284 Speaking of "never missing leg days", it seems that the "SF2" epilogue for Chun-li was probably the least complicated. Yeah, that storyline has a whiff or two of "Enter the Dragon" with avenging kin and taking down a drug lord.
Also, when selected as a playable character in Tourney, Geese's dialogue indicates that the CPU Geese is an imposter that teamed up with Bison (and vice versa if Bison is selected).
@@Gen965 Gill's not even really a villain, since he's basically looked at as a Christ-like benevolent figure (despite his manipulative and somewhat fascist motivations). His bitter brother Urien, on the other hand, would be a perfect candidate for M. Bison to overtake as his new vessel once his current one is destroyed, given Urien has the same Illuminati-based powers & skill set as his brother Gill, but he has the same "The world must be dominated through oppression, fear, & power" mindset of the Shadowloo dictator.
He uses Psycho Power which is based on chaos and fear. He was eventually replaced as an antagonist by Akuma, who uses Satsui No Hado, the purity of angry intent forms. M. Bison is a fearful threat to the world, whereas Akuma is an existential threat to existence itself. Bison's master is never explored or revealed and is a potential plot arc for other games.
_"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."_ - M. Bison to Chun Li on killing her father.
This is actually a really cool story. I watched the anime movie a million times, grew up on II and a big fan of Street Fighter V, but I never really knew what was going on. Just had the general idea of villains and organizations.
For years i hated the SF live action movie, then it became a guilty pleasure, upon learning of Raul Julia's reason for accepting the role of M. Bison it became a beloved memory.
There has never been a better theme for a character in any game. The goosebumps and fear the overtook me every time I started that boss fight was so amazing
Raul Julia is literally god tier actor in street fighter movie. Was so sad to here this was his last movie. Happy he was able to play the best character in the movie though. RIP Raul :(
While Akuma is a great villain within street fighter and his crossover into Tekken, M. Bison is the premiere villain of the street fighter franchise. In which he has a connection to nearly all the characters within the street fighter universe such as Ryu, Chun Li, Guille, Cammy, and more. Plus having an electric mix of his top members of Shadaloo: Vega the deadly claw wielding assassin, Balrog the crazy buffalo boxer, and the towering Muay Thai master Sagat.
Most people don't. Same goes for Mortal Kombat, especially in the Original Trilogy (despite the character bios & character endings, just like Street Fighter).
An unforgettable character, and villain. Definitely a legacy that is cemented within the series. SF x PR, that was awesome SF2 animated film.. seriously I wish they kept the art style with the SFIV animation (sigh but nope) No telling what the future holds for this baddie
This is an absolutely lovely series, i often forget just how many fighters have been in the Street Fighter games. Genuinely hope we get a video for every one of them. 😄👍
I respect M. Bison as a memorable last boss in a fighting game, but when it comes to the whole Street Fighter Saga, I most definitely choose Gill as my favorite last boss in it. I loved the fact that Gill and his Illuminati Cult stayed in the shadows throughout the events of Street Fighter 5, as M.Bison and his Shadoloo Empire falls to the World Warrior Alliance, along with Ryu mastering a very powerful and calm skill to take down M.Bison for good. After that, Gill and his Cult start making their cunning moves to unveil themselves to the World.
Although nothing was confirmed, I suspect that Capcom meant to have FANG working for the Secret Society (often wrongly called Illuminati) when he tried to bring Vega/Bison down in his story in SFV. His win quotes against Kolin, Urien and specially Gill clearly hints that he knows about them. In Urien's story, Urien buys the plans from Mike Bison/Balrog about Operation CHAINS (the Black Moons plan) and that everythng that was about to happen was a farce. The farce being the Black Moon plan. The Secret Society prophecy mentions that, when a black moon splits into 7 pieces and would bring terror to the people beneath it, a blond haired child controlling hot and cold would appear as their savior. However, that was meant to happen in 2200. The Black Moon project happening was enough to convince the council that the time of the savior has arrived... and, that the savior was Gill. It can't be coincidence and that would be a interesting plot that Capcom could have developed in the general story....
@@luizfernandoportugalfuchs1740 very interesting, the fact that there were some Shadowlaw members that knew of the Secret Society was a pretty cool detail. It showed that some of those characters were cunning in their respective ways. While all that was going within SFV, we kinda still don’t know “G”s true intentions in the grand scheme of things, he says he only wants what’s best for his country and his people, but does he really??
There's another medium that this series doesn't address, but which adds a lot to the Street Fighter characters; manga and comic books. The Udon comic books in particular are quite good, although they tend to mirror the official stories pretty closely in most respects.
