This entire En Concert 1989 is incredible, when I was in Paris I got both the CDs and the DVD of this performance. It also features songs from the first album sessions she never performed again in her concerts - such as Puisque and Jardin de Vienne.

These costumes are actually kind of reminiscent of Gavroche, a young boy who is a character of Les Misérables. And the mime like moves you are mentioning are more like puppet moves, because in the official video for this song she is seen as a puppet (and wearing a Gavroche outfit).
1989 tour was such a fun live show, she is so professional! I wish Mylène could somehow perform "On est tous des imbéciles" during the Nevermore 2023 tour, even as a part of a medley would be incredible, it's so quirky and fun song! Still, seeing her live fills me with excitement! 🇫🇮😍🇫🇷

Remember, in the original video she was a marionette that came to life, so the mime-like gestures fit. Did you see Sophie Tellier (your favorite backup dancer/actress) to the right of Mylène? Her lyrics are contradictory "i wouldn't get undressed for an empire". She actually did get undressed fully in one of her clips but you had to live in the 80's to really understand the moods of those days. It would seem like a different planet now.
Mylène Farmer's vocals in official live videos and albums are always good because she is known to re-record all songs in studio beforehands. Something she never tried to hide by the way, that's just the way she decided to always do it. Those of us who have seen all her shows know that even though the emotions and energy are of course always there, her voice is never consistently that good and often drowned by the music and/or replaced by the backing vocalists when she's out of breath. That was especially the case back in 1989 when she didn't yet have any experience of the stage and live singing - after that she did get better and better with each new tour. Nevertheless she continued to this day to always re-record live performances in studio for all official supports. In the age of cell phones with cameras there are loads of live clips available out there for those interested in examples of what her live performances really sound like. (Don't get me wrong, she's never been really bad! Just not consistently that good.)

The best live version of the song, very similar to the single realeased just 1 year and half earlier. Mylène and the belgium public (this concert was filmed in Brussels) were on fire.

So it remains few very good songs to see from this Tour 89.

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Mylène Farmer. "Sans Contrefaçon" (Without Counterfeit) is one of the most anticipated titles by fans (with "Libertine" and "Pourvu Qu'Elles Soient Douces") and will be sung on all dates from May 11 to December 8, 1989.
I agree with you for this version which is the BEST for ME but also her BEST CONCERT.
If you love it, that's normal, because we're still in the 80's, the song dates from 1987, almost 2 years before the release of the single release, but also in the "base" and the structure of this LIVE VERSION is much closer to the 'ORIGINAL which explains why you prefer it much more for example to that of the TOUR 2009 with her dancers in skirts as you say so well because this song like all those of her 80's career lose this "famous sound" that we will NEVER arrive to "recreate" too much and that you love so much.
Then you should know that at the time of this tour Mylène was barely 27-28 years old and already 5 years of career to her credit!
At the time, it was Thierry Mugler (who died on January 23) whose manager of Mylène, Bertrand Le Page was a fan of his work in the 80's who designed the costumes for this tour (as for certain videoclips: "XXL" in 1995 or "Souviens-Toi Du Jour" in 1999 as well as certain TV appearences or ceremonies), while in 2009 it was Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Mylène wears a black and white checkered jacket for the choreography (the "gay" moment for this tour 😉) as well as a cap in the style of a Gavroche as well as her dancers (different for each dancer made in secret to thank Mylène, Laurent and Bertrand Le Page the manager) and will ask her audience to take up the refrains in chorus, which will be her "trademark" for the future concerts of the following decades.
For this same live, I recommend the song "A Quoi Je Sers..." (which was included in the setlist in September 1989 cuz it was released in the summer and won't be heard again for 20 years!) and "Sans Logique" which were very well covered for this concert.
