    Very instructional video, well presented. New guidelines if you are pressure canning , which kills all bacteria , you can save yourself a lot of time. Just wash jars till clean , and you no longer need to boil lids..

    Fabulous video. This took all the mystery and hesitation away from using my pressure canner. I've read the instructions but seeing the process makes all the difference. Perfect timing! Thanks, I love all your videos.

      Just follow the instructions for the type of veggies you are canning carefully and be careful around the steam. Always check your jars for spoilage when opening them to be safe.

      they are just some 1/2 x 1/2 maple strips stapled together with 18 gauge narrow crown staples made from scrap wood. Thanks for watching.

    Love watching your videos. The gardens ones remind me of my childhood. My Dad had a garden we canned all summer and come winter it was like they where picked that day. Thanks so much for sharing my friend.

      Thank you for watching my videos. A garden is definitely a labor of love. The rewards are well worth all the work. My memories were opposite yours. We had a small garden and my mom would freeze the veggies in little plastic containers. When we ate it everything was freezer burned and rubbery.

      Thank you. The plasma table is one of the most usefull tools that I have designed and built. I figured that many others would run into the same issues as I do and thought it would be fun to share some of my ideas, and hopefully make a couple of dollars from UA-cam advertising in the process. Now I just need another 100,000 subscribers.

    Is it necessary to peel the carrots?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  2 роки тому +1

      The skin is edible so shouldn't be a problem if washed well. Thanks for watching.

      Thank you. I am glad that someone enjoys them. Before we started canning the carrots they would stay in the garden untill the end of Nov and then I would place them in the root cellar in buckets of sand and they would last most of the winter. We are getting ready to plant the fall greens now.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  8 років тому +1

      Not much anymore. We usually just plant several types of lettuce, bok choy, beets for greens,& kale. Everything else there is a great public market in Rochester that we visit to stock up on cabbage, brussel sprouts, onions, & potatoes fresh from local farms for extremely low prices to finish filling thr root cellar for the season.

    I'm curious, what size bed did you plant your carrots in? Did you add more soil/compost to it?

    Did your mandoline come with the box to catch the veggies ? I am deciding which one to get

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 років тому

      No, they fall on the counter. The food processor will catch them if we are in a hurry. Thanks for watching.

    I really need a new pressure canner, mine is not deep. It would be wonderful to make two stacked layers at a time. Thanks for another great video!
