I'm not a addict, but was put on Xanax for high anxiety and anxiety is no joke...I always took the medicine as percribed, I actually told my doctor I wasn't going to take the meds any more because I really didn't like how it made me feel and how I was functioning while I was taking it, He actually told me that wasn't possible I could not just stop I seen the fear in his eyes so I didn't stop taking it, I actually read about it and I seen that a person could actually die from withdrawal alone and at the time I didn't understand exactly what everything meant or why I was never told about that, I never was a drinker and I'm still not a drinker, I was a pot smoker and felt some kind away about that...But I kept reading and looking up anything that could help me stop taking it and what and how I could quit without dying....I think because I didn't abuse my dosage helped me..but I started by reducing by half then I started reducing reducing from twice daily to once daily it took six months I was only taking half of one pill and 3 months later I wasn't taking that...I kept the script because I was scared..I kept 10 pills and took the scripts into my doctor because all the pharmacy didn't have a disposable bin in the pharmacy anymore where you could discard old medicine..I explained to him what I did and he hugged me and took all the old medicine and discarded it safely... And I did that while still going to work every day and no one knew...I recently put the last 10 pills I had kept down my garbage disposal, I use other methods to control my anxiety, and yes I do actually smoke but not often..I learned breathing techniques, meditation, finger tapping and I learned them from a school teacher that uses those techniques on children that suffer with ADHD, it helps calm them.... Proud of you Sir. For excepting the help and wanting to be better
