Picked up an account that had 200 cya. Ph did not want to rise on its own like my other pool with 30 cya and that was with stopping the use of trichlor tabs. Even with 120ppm on the tested total alkalinity. This video gave me relief. I was like “wtf is going on?!”
Thanks for the videos, very informative. When you talk about the alkalinity levels for your pools are you talking about Total Alkalinity or CYA Corrected Alkalinity? Im trying to figure out if my TA or Corrected Alkalinity should be around 90.
If you have a reading Alk of 90 and your CYA is 60 your Carbonate Alk would be 70.8. A simple way to get your Carbonate Alk is to take your reading Alk subtract your CYA the multiply that by .32 Example 90 alk - 60 CYA X .32 = 70.8 Carbonate Alk
Awesome video. So in the end, is this a good thing, or a bad thing? For a pool, how do you figure out how much more acid to add to bring down the PH to the proper level?
All of the figures are already figured in for that. I have a lot more informative videos on my Instagram. #poolchemistrydoneright. I believe I have a video on UA-cam that goes over the math for Alk and pH drop.

I Haven't posted on UA-cam and I don't plan to. You can follow me on Instagram @keepitcleanpoolservice
Got it, thanks for your reply.

Watch Lets talk chem dosing on youtube
What is that tester you’re using?
your thoughts and process are confusing; perhaps using a white board to outline your process ?

What this video shows is that CYA buffers your pH against dropping BC it took more acid to move the pH to 7.5. So CYA buffers your pH against drop.
